Background and Introduction!

The OHS Club 57 is an unsyndicated, but well managed group of 1957 graduates from Oswego High School, Oswego, Illinois. The group is comprised of seven OHS graduates including their spouses and / or friends. The basic purpose and objective of the group is to have frequent get togethers to meet and discuss old times over dinner or lunch, but mainly to just have a good old fashioned time together.

Bill Perkins and his wife Shelia invited Club 57 to their Wisconsin Lake Home on Golden Sands Lake for a week-end event together for July 17-20, 2015. The meeting happened in the small town of Neshkoro located in the northeast corner of Marquette County, Wisconsin. Most of the attendees acquired over night lodging in the nearby town of Wautoma, Wisconsin, which is the county seat of adjacent Waushara County, Wisconsin.

This slide show contains information and photos about that Club 57 week-end event, with photos concentrated mainly on the attendees and sites to see in and around that part of Wisconsin, as well as sites to see in other nearby areas of Wisconsin.

Lunch Creek Vineyards and Winery was established in 2008 with the initial planting of 2.5 acres of cold hardy varietal grape vines. The Winery opened in September 2013 and is named after the Lunch Creek, a Class A trout stream that flows through the property. The winery is located approximately 45 minutes west of Oshkosh, Wi. Currently we feature four varieties of cold hardy wine, by spring of 2014 we hope to offer 8 - 10 different varieties of grape and fruit wines using all Wisconsin grown fruit.

Lake Winnebago is a 137,700 acre, 215.2 sq mile, freshwater lake in eastern Wisconsin. It is the largest lake entirely within the state, covering an area of about 30 by 10 miles, with 88 miles of shoreline, an average depth of 15.5 feet and a maximum depth of 21 feet (6.4 m). It has many shallow reefs along the west shore, and a drop-off type shoreline on the east. There are several islands along the west shore.

Cities on its shores include Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Neenah and Menasha. Municipal drinking water systems serving over 250,000 people draw directly from the lake, including systems serving the cities of Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha and Appleton.

The tallest flagpole in North America (400 feet) is at the Acuity Insurance headquarters in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and it is visible from 9 miles away.

Page 80: Club 57 hits wisconsin!

In April 2014, Acuity announced it would try another attempt at erecting the nation's largest flagpole by July 4, 2014, this time with a400 foot pole built by Manitowoc wind turbine manufacturer Broadwind Energy.

The flag to be hoisted will measure 120 feet x 60 feet, with an LED lighting system designed to be visible from Cedar Grove 11 miles south and much heavier reinforcement of the pole structure. The new flag pole stands 400 feet tall. A flag 120 feet by 60 feet was raised for the first time on May 22, 2014. The pole has a 680 cubic yard concrete base spanning 11 feet wide at the bottom.
