area guides for every project area? The Iowa

4-H webpage has these for each project area.

The project guides include ideas for every

project area. They have communication ideas, civic

engagement ideas, leadership activities and

entrepreneurship ideas. They even have great

information on goal setting and record keeping,

career connections and educational connections.

These guides are very helpful when you

want more information about a project area. They

also contain information about Iowa 4-H event

opportunities. I encourage you to take time to look

at the project area guides for the projects you are

enrolled in.

New this year for SWINE weigh in! Performance hogs will be weighed in on March 27th. Maximum

weight of 70 pounds at weigh in. If you are not showing in the performance class, you do not have to

weigh in, unless you want to. If you are not weighing in on March 27th, you will need to make arrange-

ments to pick up tags and forms March 22nd—April 2nd Monday—Friday 8AM—4:30 pm. All exhibitors

will enter their information on v2.4honline. An information page will be provided on how to enter

information at weigh in and for those who pick up tags at the office. All swine ID Forms will need to be

turned into the Page County Extension Office by 4:30 pm by April 15th. If you have any questions, please

call Lexy Davies CYC at (712)542-5171.

Middle school and high school students

from Iowa are invited to compete and

showcase crop scouting abilities in corn

and soybeans.

The Youth Crop Scouting Competition is

to provide students an opportunity to

learn crop scouting and principles of

Integrated Pest Management for corn

and soybeans and to obtain knowledge

and skills helpful in future careers related

to agricultural and environmental

sciences.

` YQCA is available 2 ways

YQCA training can be completed online at yqca.org. Simply use your v2.4honline information to sign in for testing.

Cost is $12.00 for online testing. Make sure to mail , drop off a copy of your completed course certificate, or you can

send by email to [email protected]. YQCA certifications are due by July 1.

Face to face training with Lexy will be available March 14th, 21st,26th and April 14th for getting your YQCA certifica-

tion. Cost will be $3.00. Go to https://learngrow io to register for a training. Log on with your v2.4honline information.

Select the training you will be attending and select the $3.00 purchase using a credit card. If you need help, give us a

call. Class size will be limited to twelve. Face Masks and social distancing will be required.

Are you wanting to purchase an animal to show at the fair, but don’t know where to go?

We have contacts for sheep, goats, swine, rabbits, and poultry. Call ISU Extension & Outreach

Share-A-Kid! The Iowa Dairy Goat Association is offering the Share a kid program for

youth 4th –12th grades who are in 4-H or FFA. The Application deadline is March 15th.

Breeds available are Toggenburg, Oberhasli, LaMancha, Saanen, Alpine, Nigerian Dwarf,

and Nubian.

The essay of 100 words or more, should tell why the applicant would like to have a dairy

goat, how they are going to take care of her (food, shelter, and medical care), if they have

ever raised a goat before and if not, who will help them, and why they love goats.

As a Junior Superintendent, you will be working with the Superintendent and helping them to prepare for the

our fair a success you will learn leadership and communication skills. What a great resume builder and a

chance to share your 4-H spirit!

Iowa 4-H Youth Conference Join other 4-Hers from around the state for a full day of speakers, workshops,

teambuilding, service-learning and more! If you are interested in animals, there will also be an Animal

Science Round up as part of the event.

If you have completed 8th grade and are an Iowa 4-H member, you’re eligible to attend. You will get to

experience campus life and meet new people from round the state. The West part of the state will attend on

Tuesday June 29th. Registration will open in April.

New State Fair Photography Rule:

No 4 x 6 photographs will be accepted.

The minimum size of a photograph will be 5 x 7

All photos must be mounted or matted.

Pop Tabs for Jacy

The 2020—2021 State 4-H Council is honored to

carry on Jacy McAlexander’s legacy of serving others

through their 4th annual “Pop Tabs for Jacy”

initiative. Jacy was a member for the 2017—2018

State 4-H Council who passed away from his

courageous battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma during his

term.

Please help the State Council reach their goa of 2.021

pounds of pop tabs collected and donated to the

Ronald McDonald House of Des Moines.

Please use the Page County Extension Office as a

drop off location. Donations due before June 23rd.

One of our exciting changes for this year is 4-H Online 2.0. If you have been a part of the 4-H family for a while, 4honline as we know it has been around since 2009. In the world of technology, that is a long time! When re-enrolling make sure all contact information is up to date! This is our way of communicating with you. To re-enroll, sign up as a new member or as a volunteer. We have a new and improved website

for enrolling in 4-H! https://v2.4honline.com There are help sheets and more information on enrollment available at

Select “Don’t have an account”. This will

allow you to Create Your Account. Select

your state from the drop down menu,

and then Iowa 4-H Youth Development,

then Page County.

Enter your e-mail and create a password.

Make sure your password is one you will

remember.

You will then be asked to enter your

address, demographic information, and

Emergency Contact. Select the club you

want to join and the project areas you

want to enroll in.

Then answer a few questions about your

family and complete the health form sec-

tion .

Finally, consent form and confirm your

information .

re-enroll. Your username and password

are still the same. Do not use the old 4-H

online link!!!

Add family members on the Add Member

tab at the top of the page. To enroll in a

program click on the Enroll Now link

under the program name.

If it shows Continue Enrolling under a pro-

gram, that means you have not completed

enrollment, no worries, just click on the

link to pick up where you left off.

To navigate to a family member click on

the View Button to the right of the name.

When you are finished viewing the select-

ed member click on the Member List link

at the top of the menu.
