VMware VMworld Report Survey of IT Professionals

October 2015

2

Executive Summary

This report finds that companies continue to look to the public cloud

for more and more of their IT workload. Nearly 8 of 10 surveyed

stated they intend on operating a hybrid cloud. The top concern

with this rapid progression to multiple clouds is the ability to

manage IT and cloud costs. However, most of those surveyed

admitted they don’t do a good job of tracking or managing costs.

The number of clouds managed is poised to continue increasing

as VMware's new cloud offering, vCloud Air, tops the list of cloud

services considered for new trials. With a growing number of

vendors and an increasing reliance on the cloud, companies

must look for a better way to track, understand, and

manage costs beyond spreadsheets.
