What is Cloud Storage? Cloud storage is a service model in which data is maintained, managed and backed up remotely and made available to users over a network (typically the Internet).

There are three main cloud storage models:

•Public Cloud •Private Cloud •Hybrid Cloud

Benefits of Cloud Storage• Flexibility in cost

• Elastic

• Easy access to data

• Reliable infrastructure

• Unlimited Storage

• Hierarchical Storage

• Global Performance

• Strong Consistency

• Change Notification

• Robust Security

• Version Management

• High Reliability

• Unlimited Capacity

The Impact of Cloud Computing on Computer Forensics

Cloud computing is an expression used to describe a variety of computing concepts that involves a large number of computers connected through a real-time communication network such as the Internet

Companies That Had Maid an Impact on Cloud Computing•Apple – iCould

•Google – google drive

•Microsoft – Microsoft Office

•Netflix – Streaming

Computer Forensics Impacts Due to Cloud Computing • No more physical storage• No knowledge in where your data is • Be able to trust cloud service companies • How safe is your data

Pro’s vs Con’s of Cloud forensics Benefit of cloud computing is centralized data, having the data all in the same place assists in forensic readiness, which leads to quicker, coordinated response to incidents.

Other benefits to computer forensics stem from the services and resources that cloud systems can offer, or more precisely the scale and power of these services.

Additional benefits include inbuilt hash authentication for authentication of disk images. For example, Amazon S3 generates an MD5 hash when an object is stored, which means that it is no longer necessary to generate time-consuming MD5 checksums.

The main drawback of cloud computing from a forensic perspective is that of data acquisition knowing exactly where the data is and actually acquiring the data.

A further shortcoming is the lack of tool support available for dealing with cloud datacenters.

The final problem stems from the legal/people aspect of computer forensics in that whatever digital evidence is acquired from an investigation it must still be presented to a jury, who will pass judgment on a case.

Cloud Storage vs. SSD (Positives)

Access information anywhere and anytime

Software provided online is upgraded and maintained by the provider (saves company money)

Former employee familiar with your company might be able to guess your passwords or answer your security questions and get into your accounts

Having no mechanical parts make SSDs immune to physical vibration, shock, and extreme temperatures

nothing will happen to an SSD if you drop it. It is their ability to work in extreme conditions that makes them very attractive for military use.

SSDs offer blazing-fast performance being 100 times faster than HDDs

Cloud Storage vs. SSD(Negatives)

There are incidents where online services lost supposedly secure data or went offline for some period of time, during which their customers' accounts were inaccessible.

Recommends that entrepreneurs choose established providers like Google.

The NAND flash memory endurance cycles are still too low. That’s why data retention is much shorter than with conventional hard drives.

They still are a lot smaller than traditional hard drives, which means that you simply won't have a lot of disk space

SSDs are not that popular yet because they are really expensive

Costs

Cloud storage may be cost-efficient for many corporations and small businesses for everyday use

Average users the costs may outweigh its benefits◦ Local wired hard drive◦ Local wireless hard drive◦ External USB hard drive.

There are a variety of free cloud storage options on the market.

Thank You!!
