The Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center is a partnership between the Urbana School District and the Urbana Park District. It is open to everyone during public swim time with a paid admission, punchCard, or membership card. During public swim hours, the water spray toys and water slides are turned on. Lap swim times are for individuals age 15 and up who wish to swim for exercise. Attend Urbana Park District water exercise classes by registering and paying for a specific program.

The Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center is also home to the Urbana Park District swim lesson program and diving lessons, and PE programs. Local swim team practices and meets, special events, birthday parties and private rentals are also held here. The Urbana Park District is proud and grateful to have access to such an exciting facility. Take advantage of this great community pool—and bringa friend!

Lap swim is for individuals age 15 and up. Due to the popularity of lap swimming, lap lanes for the general public are not guaranteed during public swim hours. Early morning activities from 6-8am include lap swim, water aerobics and occasional swim team practice.

Pool Rental During Public HoursAll rentals include the use of the party room and swimming. An additional $75 damage deposit is due at time of request. Call 217-367-1544 or 217-384-7665 for information about reserving your party. Fifteen minutes of set-up and clean-up is included in the 2-hour time block. Your party may not enter until the starting time. The party room must be cleaned up and all attendees must exit by your scheduled ending time. Due to popularity, please reserve your party at least three weeks in advance. For more information, email [email protected].

Party PackageThere is a special party room waiting for you at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. Swim and use the room for a 2-hour time slot during public swim hours. When calling for reservations, ask about our discount for supervising adults. On the day of the party, please provide the pool cashier with a list of names of children that will be participating.

1-15 participants: $125, Call 217-384-7665 about having more than 15 participants.

Private RentalsRent the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center before or after public hours for your own private facility rental! Includes unlimited swimming, party area and use of facility. Lifeguards are provided. An additional $75 damage deposit is due at the time of request.

Youth up through age 10 must be accompanied by a paying supervisor age 15 or older any time they visit UIAC. This is for the safety and enjoyment of all pool visitors. Children age 11 and up and may attend the facility without a supervisor.

Punch CardsPurchase a punch card as a way to try the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center before committing to buying a pass. Or give one to family or friends from out of town. Take advantage of this alternative that saves you money.

Get the building blocks for becoming become a better swimmer. Competitive swimming technique, including starts, turns, streamlining, “wall work”, are taught. Triathlon/long distance swimmers will also benefit from this clinic by becoming more efficient and faster. Coaches have extensive experience in the field and they want to help you improve your stroke and performance. This is not a “learn to swim” clinic. Swim Clinic is for those who are able to swim 25 yards consistently. Register early, this class fills fast!

Adult Learn to Swim ClassesBeginning swim lessons for adults who want to build confidence or overcome a fear. Urbana Park District Swim LessonsEarly registration is encouraged. A waitlist may be started for programs that fill quickly. The deadline is one week before the session begins. Instructors and supervisors evaluate participants to place them in the appropriate level. New participants will be tested and placed in the proper class.

Multiple Student Discount: Enroll more than one child in swim lessons and receive a $5 discount for each additional child.

Swim Lesson Information

• No shoes, food or drink on the pool deck.• Children may not have free swim before or after their swim lesson. If

their lesson ends during public swim, you may re-enter after paying or scanning your UIAC pass.

• Parents, guardians, siblings and friends are not allowed in the water during swim lessons.

• Family members must watch lessons from the Mezzanine level. Not on the deck.

• According to the Illinois Health Code, all children wearing diapers must also wear plastic pants over them or wear a “swim diaper”. This is to help prevent the spread of infectious disease through fecal accidents. Swim diapers are available for $1 at the entrance.

• For group lessons, the child must be 3 years old by the first day of the class.

• Contact a shift manager at 217-387-7665 if you need to cancel. A private or semi-private lesson is forfeited if 24 hours advance notice is not given (no credit will be given).

Private and Semi-private lessons provide very individualized instruction for anyone at any age. These lessons help the student become more confident in their swimming skills. We also recommend these lessons for anyone who wishes to perfect their strokes or for those who need a little extra attention before rejoining group lessons. Please call 217-384-7665 to register.

Swim Lesson DescriptionsParent Tot I/Parent Tot II (6-36 Months)Children are introduced to the water with games and songs. They work on jumping in, splashing, and being comfortable floating on front and back.

Preschool Lessons (Level 1) (Ages 3-5)This class is for preschool aged children. Children learn to be comfortable in the water through play and skills. They will begin to learn lead up skills for the front/back crawl. 30-minute classes.

Youth Group Lessons (Age 6 and Up)Level 2 - Children comfortable performing swimming actions independently; begin to put stroke actions together.Level 3 - side breathing and lead up skills to other four strokes; diving.Level 4 - Intro to breaststroke and butterfly; Work on distance/endurance for other strokes.Level 5 - endurance for all four strokes; instructors critique each stroke to improve efficiency; introduce open turns/flip turns.Level 6 - focus on endurance and stroke assessments; swim longer distances refine stroke technique.

How do I know where to place my child forswim lessons?During the first class of each session, instructors/coordinators evaluate each child’s abilities and place them in the appropriate level.
