The following courses are held with IBA Ireland (Right Track Security) a registered City &Guilds and EDEXCEL Training Provider. The courses are held at their center at

West Coast House. Oldenway Business Park, Ballybrit, Galway, Co. Galway, in the Republic ofIreland. Flights from Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, London Luton, Isle of Man arescheduled to Galway Airport. There is also a bus and rail service to Galway from Dublin andShannon Airports. Course fees do not include Accommodation or Meals. Reasonably pricedBed & Breakfast accommodation is sourced within Galway. The IBAHQ reserve the right to

reschedule courses when a course is undersubscribed.

To Register for a Close Protection Officer’s licence with the United Kingdom Security IndustryAuthority will require the candidate to provide proof of a Close Protection certificate Level 3 (eg.:BTEC or City & Guilds) and a First Aid Certificate (eg. First Aid at Work or Level 2 BTEC AwardIHCD First Person on Scene)

EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONER TRAINING (Already a trained International Bodyguard)This course is designed for those with IBA training who hold the IBA 100 hours badge and havecompeted training to that standard and can show proof through existing certification. See theIBAHQ brochure on the International Bodyguard Skills Certification Programme (IBSCP)

CITY & GUILDS Close Protection Level 3 (1892)A professional qualifications in close protection are for those working or planning to work asclose protection officers or bodyguards in a range of settings. These include security,transport, care or community services.The City & Guilds close protection qualifications are suitable for people whose job sometimesincludes dealing with the public and are vulnerable to incidents involving violent oraggressive people. They enable learners to recognise when someone is becomingconfrontational and master techniques for calming and defusing the situation.

FULL CLOSE PROTECTION CourseThose without the 100 hours IBA Badge can avail of the complete 3 week course in Galwayat the end of February, end of May, August and October. It has been designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help aperson in a life threatening situation. Areas covered include:

• Scene safety• Minimising the risk of infection• Patient assessment• Basic life support and automated defibrillation (to re-start the heart)• Providing initial emergency patient care• Being part of a medical response.

This qualification has been developed with the NHS Ambulance Services and is clinically endorsed by theFaculty of Pre-hospital Care. FPOS also meets the Security Industry Authority first aid requirements for CloseProtection, and can be delivered internationally. You will also require the Conflict Management modules whichis included by IBA in the CP3 training

Both sets of courses (Experienced Practitioner Close Protection and Full Close Protectionincluding the FPOS award can be delivered internationally. National Directors or companiesshould contact IBAHQ to schedule courses in 2011,

The IBAHQ has been involved in the provision of Close Protection courses since the inceptionof the Security Industry Authority Close Protection licence. In the late 1990s the IBAHQ gave

evidence on the bodyguard industry to the House of Commons, Home Affairs Select committeeon the private security industry and subsequently was contacted by the Secretary of State for

the Home Office for further information on Bodyguarding.
