Before the clock people used to use the sun to tell time.
The sundial is the tool they used. Let’s see how it works!
This sundial shows 5 o’clock.
When the sun shines on the triangle the shadow shows the time. The shadows change directions
as the sun moves across the sky.
Let’s make one of our own!

Make your own Sundial
Ask your Parents or Teacher for help with this project.
Find your your angle of latitude for your location. Look it up online or on a
map.
Cut out a triangle from cardboard or wood.
Make a base with a line on noon as shown.
Mount the triangle on the base to line up with noon.
Draw in the lines marking the shadows for the other hours.

Kit-Cat Klock Building InstructionsPick a Classic or Lady Kit-Cat
to color.
*Mount pieces on cardboard then cut out.
*Attach the tail to the eye piece.
*Use a brad paper fasteners to layer all the pieces together in the following order from the
top layer.
