Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. program)The Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology degree program is based on the scientist-practitioner model. Specifically, its goals are to train future psychologists in the core knowledge areas of the discipline; to prepare them to advance this knowledge by evaluating, developing, and scientifically examining important applied aspects of professional practice; and to acquire necessary skills in evidence-based assessment and intervention techniques. 119 credits
Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D. program)The Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree program is based on the practitioner-informed-by-science model. Specifically, its goals are to train future psychologists in the core knowledge areas of the discipline and to prepare them to provide evidence-based assessment, intervention, and consultation services across a full range of populations, settings, and formats. 118 credits

The doctoral programs provide broad and general preparation. Additional training opportunities include
• forensic psychology• health psychology• neuropsychology• psychodynamic psychotherapy• long term mental illness• child, adolescent, and
family psychology• multicultural/diversity• trauma and victimization
The Ph.D. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree programs are full-time, on-campus programs with residency requirements. The programs typically require four years of coursework and one year of internship; the Ph.D. dissertation may take longer. Students are eligible for an en-route master’s degree upon completion of the first two years of either doctoral program.
Gain practical experience with on-site clinics providing expert care in addiction, behavioral modification, counseling for older adults, depression, family therapy, neuropsychological assessment, pain management, parenting skills, psychodynamic psychotherapy, stress management, trauma, and numerous other services.

Center for Psychological Studies
The Center for Psychological Studies is dedicated to providing the highest quality of education to its students, superior mental health care services to the community, and research contributions to mental health sciences. The center offers two American Psychological Association-accredited doctoral programs (Ph.D. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology); a specialist degree in school psychology; and master’s degrees in mental health counseling, school counseling, clinical psychopharmacology, and counseling. The center also has an APA-accredited predoctoral internship program and sponsors the Consortium Internship Program. Both internship programs are members in good standing of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
