Espessura variável (7 km nos polos e 14 km na
região equatorial).
Concentra 80% do volume da atmosfera, por isso é a região com
mais instabilidade.
Aqui que ocorrem os fenômenos meteorológicos.

Por possuir ar muito rarefeito não apresenta grandes fenômenos
meteorológicos.
Aqui se encontra a chamada camada de ozônio (O3) que absorve grande
parte dos raios UV.

Aqui formam-se as auroras boreais e austrais, quando correntes
