Recommendations from colleagues, also gives more credibility,becauseyourpeersknowwhatthestandardsare.Now if you’re a new coach, youmay not have any testimonials. What do you dothen? What you can do is ask fellow coaches and/or colleagues to do coachingexchanges,whereyoucoacheachotherandthenwritehonesttestimonialsforeachother.Askingcolleaguestodothiswillputyouintheballgame.2)CredentialsThe second strategy for establishing CREDIBILITY is to get coaching certification.Therearemanydifferentkindsofcertificationprogramsoutthere.Theyrangefrom6-weekprogramsto3-yearprograms.Thecostofthesevarygreatlyalso.Therearealottochoosefrom.And,dependingonwhatkindofcoachingprogramyouwanttolearn,alottoconsider.Credentialshelpyoustandoutfromothercoachesinyourspecialtywhodon’thavecredentials. Being a member of aprofessionalorganizationcangiveyouinstantcredibility.The two largest professional organizations for life coaches are the ICF, and theIAPLCandyoucanbeamemberofboth.Asamemberofmyassociation,theIAPLC,yougetabadgetodisplayonyoursiteshowing your membership.
