When you start your journey much will be explained in game, however there are few things untold or things you haven’t thought about. In this topic we will explain the headlines you need to know about leveling.

What is the fastest way to level?Probably the fastest way to level is by just following the quest line, however if you enjoy PvP (Player vs. Player), you can also level up by that fairly easily.

Leveling with other playersFor some classes or situations this might be a good idea, however if you plan on leveling together for long, keep in mind the level differences. A too high level player (approximately 10 levels above you) will suck more XP than you get and you will end up being under leveled for the next quests eventually. This means you have to gain XP somewhere else and it can consume more time than it would have if you had just been leveling alone. Someone around your level (1 or 3 higher) will most likely not cause any trouble.

Tips to level faster

1. GearUse gear with the highest power stat until approximately level 30. Power will increase your damage, thus increase the speed of your leveling. The game will most likely recommend other gear but this doesn’t always mean it is better/faster. However after level 30 you want to start looking for more defensive and balanced gear, because questing will become harder.

2. EnchantmentsUse power (Radiant) enchantments in offense slots and XP gain (Azure) enchantments in utility slots. Power will increase your damage and XP gain will make you gain more experience, thus make you level up faster.

3. ArtifactPick up your artifact at lvl 23-25. This is a powerful item that you can improve over time.

Tyranny of Dragons CampaignYou might have seen these quests, where they make you fight dragons in your quest line areas. This is a campaign available for level 26 and up. If you find yourself doing these quests you should not be surprised to find it a bit tough here and there. If you are new to the game and have no clue what is going on, you might want to wait a little bit with this campaign.

SealsIf you happen to do dungeons perhaps you noticed you are collecting seals from the bosses and end chests. These seals you can turn in for gear at Protectors Enclave in the market place. Be sure to check it out!

Companions and mountsYou can get your first companion at level 15 and mount at level 20. They will help you on your adventurers. Just check Sergeant Knox for the quests. You can read more about companions under the companions topic.

Now you have reached level 60 your basic quest line has ended and you will get tons of things to do at once. This all might be a little overwhelming and you ask yourself where to start. There is plenty of cool stuff you can do but here are some things you should be aiming for.

CampaignsCampaigns are daily (sometimes weekly) quest lines you can do to earn special gear, items, unlock dungeons/skirmishes and boons. These boons and dungeons are the most important things you want to aim for in campaigns.

Campaign boonsBoons are small stat or buff increases you can earn. For example, gain +200 power or get a chance to get healed when critically hit. All in all, you want to become better (stronger) and boons are a great way to do so! Each campaign will have their own set of boons and you’ll need to gather the requirements in their associated quest line to unlock them.

Campaign dungeons & skirmishesIn campaign dungeons and skirmishes you can earn exclusive gear and items. Some are good, great or even the best gear or items that exist in the game right now, so you definitely should work on unlocking these areas!

Gearing upTo be able to become better and hold up in new dungeons and campaigns you want to start looking for better gear. There are several ways and places you can do this and we will explain you how and what is the best way to do it under the Gear topic.

Learning your classYou had plenty of time to learn the basics of your class while leveling and if you didn’t follow any guide you probably did anything that just felt right at the moment, things that right now might seem useless or misguiding. Learn your class, rework it if needed after or while getting your gear or boons.

Get richIn order to become better you are going to need astral diamonds (AD), either to unlock the things in the campaigns, buy the items you want or need and upgrade the items you already have. There are several ways to gain AD and we will explain them under the topic How to gain astral diamonds.

Tip: Drake seal, Gauntlegrym T2 or PvP T2 weapons are a good replacement for the Dread Vault weapons.

T2 weapon sets can be found in the following epic dungeons:- Dread Vault (main hand)- Lair of the Pirate King (off-hand)

The Dread VaultWe don’t recommend you to go to epic Dread Vault for your weapons, because this is the hardest T2 dungeon in game and can be more or less considered end game material instead of a T2 gearing dungeon. It also has a poor drop rate, doesn’t drop loot from the boss sometimes, campfires are bugged and once you been there you never want to go back. Believe us, it sucks! There are plenty of alternatives for your weapons we will mention under Other Gear.

Other gear

Seals gearYou might have noticed you have been collecting seals while doing your dungeons. These seals you can turn in for lvl 60 gear at the Unicorn and Drake seal trader at the market in Protectors Enclave. Unicorn seal gear is like T1 gear and Drake seal gear is like T2 gear, but both without the set bonuses. Both sets are a great alternative if you don’t have T1, T2 or anything better yet. This is also one of the easiest ways to get gear.

Gauntlegrym gearYou can buy Gauntlegrym gear by participating in the Gauntlegrym event. With the Grym Coins you’ll earn during the event you can buy PvP T1 or T2 gear at the vendor in Gauntlegrym or at the Trade of Blades in Protectors Enclave. To learn more about Gauntlegrym go to the Gauntlegrym topic.

PvP GearPvP gear can be bought with Glory and Seals of Triumph you win while doing PvP in the Trade of Blades. There are several sets considered T1, T2 and T2,5 gear.

10 11

Tip: You can press CTRL + J in game and select Epic Equipment to view all these T1 and T2 items.

T1 (tier 1) armor setsIf you are inexperienced and just hit lvl 60 you want to start out getting your T1 gear first. T1 is a term for level 60 gear that will give you a set bonus of +400 and another special specified buff/bonus. The basic T1 gear only drops in the level 60 epic versions of some dungeons you might have done along the way while leveling. Wearing a full T1 set (head, arms, feet and armor) will make you ready for farming your T2 gear and keep up in harder dungeons, skirmishes or campaigns.

T1 armor sets can be found in the following level 60 dungeons:- Throne of Idris (armor)- Lair of the Mad Dragon (head)- Cloak Tower (arms)- Cragmyre Crypts (feet)

T1 weapon setsThe T1 weapon set isn’t anything special but a good way to start out, it will give you better stats if you didn’t have anything good already.

T1 weapon sets can be found in the following epic dungeons:- Grey Wolf Den (main hand)- Throne of Idris (off-hand)

T2 (tier 2) armor setsIt is best to start farming for your T2 set after you got your T1 set unless you are experienced enough. T2 is a term for level 60 gear that will give you a set bonus of +450 and another special specified buff/bonus, also the stats on these are higher than those on T1. The basic T2 gear only drops in the level 60 epic versions of some dungeons you might have done along the way while leveling. A lot of T2 armor sets are still the best sets there in game and definitely considered end game material.

T2 armor sets can be found in the following level 60 dungeons:- Temple of the Spider (armor)- Spellplague Caverns (head)- Caverns of Karrundax (arms)- Frozen Heart (feet)

T2 weapon setsThe T2 weapon set might be a good upgrade for you but there are plenty of other ways to get better weapon sets (mentioned under other gear).

Tyranny of Dragons:Armor sets:Draconic set: Whispering Caverns dragon (feet), Rothe Valley dragon (arms), epic Lairor Lostmouth (armor) and epic Shores of Tuern (head)Draconic Templar set: Temple of Tiamat (arms from the chest, armor and head as a reward),vendor in Well of Dragons (feet)Weapon set:epic Lair or Lostmouth (main hand) and epic Shores of Tuern (off-hand)

PvP or PvE gear? You will recognize PvP gear from its tenacity stat, this stat reduces the duration of crowdcontrol effects in PvP and is not useful in PvE. All gear without the Tenacity stat isconsidered PvE gear, but can easily be used in PvP, however it is most likely not the bestchoice to wear if you want to get serious in PvP and don’t want to get your ass whooped.Wearing a PvP set in PvE however can work out when it is the Corrupted or Purified BlackIce set as they lend themselves perfectly for both PvP and PvE.

12 13

Campaign GearYou can gain several gear sets in campaign areas you are doing. Most of the time you first need to unlock these areas or gather a special kind of currency to buy these items. However most of these armor sets aren’t considered very good because of their often useless set bonuses, but the stats might be better on some ends. This subject is being speculated about a lot, however everyone agrees that the Valindra’s Tower Dread Legion’s weapon set is a good one. On the other items you have to decide for yourself.

SharandarArmor set:Malabogs Castle - all bosses (arms), vendor in Sharandar (armor, feet and head)Weapon set:Malabog’s Castle - last boss (off-hand), Artificing and Weaponsmithing profession lvl 20 (main hand)

Dread RingArmor set: Valindra’s Tower - Armor as a drop from Valindra, Feet as loot from the chest, Arms and Head from the Dread Ring vendor.Weapon set: Dread Legion set - Valindra’s Tower chest at the end (main hand and off-hand)Fallen Dragon set - Valindra’s Tower first boss (off-hand), Artificing and Weaponsmithing profession Lv20 (main hand)

Icewind DaleArmor set:For this set you have to obtain regular Black Ice gear from the vendor in Caer-Konig (armor, head and feet) and from epic Heroic Encounters in Icewind Pass (arms), than use the Black Ice Shaping profession to upgrade it to either a Corrupted (damage) or Purified (tank) Black Ice set.Weapon set: For this set you have to obtain regular Black Ice gear from Vendor in Caer-Konig (off-hand) and from epic Heroic Encounters in Dwarven Valley (main hand), then use Black Ice Shaping profession to upgrade it to either Corrupted (damage) or Purified (tank)

JewelcraftingIn the jewelcrafting profession you can make rings at lvl 20 (profession level) with two sockets for two enchantments and great stats. They will easily replace any of the rings mentioned above but do take time and AD to make. You can also craft necks and belts with 2 sockets, but it is not optimal to do so because the artifact cloaks and belts are simply better.

14 15

For your first jewelry set you will find many epics along the way while farming your T1 or T2 set, doing campaigns or simply buy them at the seals vendor. Once done with your T2 set you will want to start looking for better jewelry that can be found at the following...

Castle NeverAncient jewelry pieces are great, that is if you don’t have any artifact equipment, Jewelcraft-ing at level 20 or Lair of Lostmouth/Shores of Tuern unlocked. These ancient jewelry pieces can be found in Castle Never, a dungeon you want to be prepared for. We highly recommend taking at least 2-3 experienced players with you if you want to fully succeed the dungeon. However the first 3 bosses drop the jewelry pieces which you could try to obtain without an experienced player, although it might be tough.

Shores of Tuern (SoT) and epic Lair of Lostmouth (eLoL)Next is jewelry from SoT or eLoL, that is if you still don’t have any artifact belt or cloak or Jewelcrafting at level 20. The skirmish Shores of Tuern drops a great jewelry set (with bonus) that might be good to replace your Ancient pieces with, but for those seeking something else should go to (epic) LoL. This dungeon drops good rings and necklaces that will improve you.

Artifact belt and cloak.Artifact equipment for jewelry exists in belt and cloak form. When made legendary these items hold 2 sockets for 2 enchantments, have high end stats and the belts give a +2 on two or +4 on one of your ability scores (STR/CON/DEX/INT/WIS/CHA). Depending on which type you acquire the item may also give a set bonus when combined with the other two set pieces. These items start out as uncommon which you can then upgrade to rare, epic and legendary. To make things clear, right now these are the best belts and cloaks out there, but very expensive to upgrade. You can win these items from the dragons in Whispering Caverns and Rothe Valley, on any of the heroic encounters in the Well of Dragons and in the chest of the Temple of Tiamat. However, they have become reasonably cheap on the Auction House and you might just buy them to be done with it.

Tip: To see all artifact equipment press CTRL + J and look under Artifact Equipment.

Tip: With jewelcrafting you can also make the best belts, necks and rings out there for your companions.

Refining & UpgradingMany items need refining and upgrading to improve their stats or gain bonuses and sockets. Here we will explain what items need refining, how to get the requirements and what is the best way to do it.

Refining

How does it work? You can refine items by right clicking them and then click refine. Next drag the refineable items into the slots or put them in from the drop down menu in the refining window.

Enchantments and runesEnchantments and runes are items you can put in your gear or companions sockets. They will give a stat increase (example +120 power) so you should definitely upgrade these. However just buying these enchantments or runes at rank 7 to 10 might be cheaper from time to time, so it is wise to compare the prizes from what you would spend if you buy it, to what you would have to spend to upgrade it yourself. You can refine these items with enchantments, runes, marks, shards and refining stones. Enchantments and runes can be found from all monsters, (any) chests, heroic encounters and skill nodes (nature, thievery, religion, dungeonering, arcane).

ShardsWith shards you can craft weapon and armor enchantments that give the wearer different bonusses depending on which enchantment you use, like being resurrected the first time you die or doing extra lightning damage. These enchantments are very useful for you.You can refine these shards with enchantments, runes, marks, shards and refining stones. Shards can only be found from boss drops, the chests at the end of a dungeon and in some campaign chests.

Artifact equipmentSadly you have to upgrade Artifact equipment yourself. The fastest way to do so is with refining stones, but you can also use marks and level 60 uncommen, rare or epic gear. However, epic gear pieces don’t give much refining points per AD spent, so selling or salvaging them will give you more AD to buy refining stones, thus getting you more refining points in the end. Note that neck pieces will give more refining points to a cloak artifact, belt to belt artifact and so on.

ArtifactArtifacts you have to upgrade yourself as well. The fastest way to do so is with enchant-ments and runes, they give a double refining point bonus and have a chance to crit, thus will give you more refining points. Refining stones, shards and marks can also be used. Note that power marks will give more refining points to a power artifact, union to union and so on.

Upgrading

After you have refined enough points your item should be ready to upgrade. It will require several items varying from copies of that very item, marks and/or wards.

MarksMarks can be found in (any) chest, from bosses, the wondrous bazaar and skill nodes (nature, thievery, religion, dungeonering, arcane). Green and purple marks drop quite often. However blue marks are harder to find and you will probably find yourself buying these of the Auction House more often.

WardsThere are two types of wards that will save your marks from getting destroyed, these are wise to use when upgrading an item.

Preservation wardWill save your marks and the required items from getting destroyed. Wise to use for items that are expensive and can’t be easily replace. The ward will not be destroyed on a success upgrade, thus can be used again. These wards are quite easy to obtain from the Coffer of Wondrous Augmentation which you can buy with your 7/7 celestial coins (one earned each day by praying).

Coalescent ward (coalward)Will grant a 100% success rate, but will be consumed in the upgrade. Good to use for upgrading items that have a very low success rate (1%). These wards are hard to obtain, they very rarely drop from the Coffer of Wondrous Augmentation which you can buy with your 7/7 celestial coins (one earned each day by praying). You can also buy them on the Auction House and in the Zen store. Any price above 500,000 AD, is overpriced if you compare the Zen to AD price rate.

Tip: Note that upgrading a Radiant enchantment with another Radiant enchantment will give you double refninig points, arcane with arcane

and so on.

Tip: All Mark of Potency (lesser, normal, greater) can be bought in the Wondrous Bazaar, don’t buy them overpriced on the Auction House.

Tip: Do some PvE task to score points before the artifact and food for the giant tasks end, if you do not get the chance to join PvP you still get

the second share from doing PvE.

Warning: Do not accept the PvP queue 5 minutes before the end of the 2nd phase or you will lose your second share if you scored PvE points,

because the PvP fight cannot start in time anymore.

Warning: The PvE carts task will not give you any points. If you don’t have any points before the artifact and food for the giant tasks end nor get into into PvP in time you will not receive a second share.

Warning: You do not gain points after the artifact and food for the giant task. Start before these tasks have ended!

GauntlegrymGauntlegrym is (mainly) a PvP event that takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to fully complete. It will take place several times a day and is indicated by their 3 phases: Iron Tabernacle, Armories of Moradin and Delzoun Crypts. At the end you can explore two new dungeons that can drop T1 or T2 items, unlock PvP boons or buy PvP gear.

How does it work?During Iron Tabernacle or Armories of Moradin you need to travel to the Gauntlegrym map and do certain tasks to earn shares. These shares will determine if you get into one of the two dungeons in the last phase. One share will give you access to the easier dungeon Fadelers Crypt that drops T1, two shares and a win of the overall battle by your fraction (Luskan or Delzoun) will grant you access to the harder dungeon Dwarf King Crypt that drops T2. The fraction you are in is determined by the guild you are in and cannot be changed, unless that guild decides to pay 850k AD to change it. Currently our guild is considered Delzoun.

1st phase - Iron TabernacleThe first phase consists out of PvE objectives. You need to kill, collect, and turn in several items and monsters to gain points. When you start out it is wise to stay on one side of the map (left or right), because when you spread out you’ll earn items you need to turn in on both sides which is going to take a lot of running, thus losing time. You need to have at least 1 point on the score board to earn a share. You can gain these points by killing monsters.

2nd phase - Armories of MoradinDuring the second phase you can choose to go PvE or PvP.

Gauntlegrym PvPTo join into Gauntlegrym PvP you need to queue as soon the Amories of Moradin phase starts, then if you are lucky you will be placed into a team of 20 players and teleported to an arena where you have to fight 20 other players. This queue doesn’t always pop up because there are many players that want to join PvP and there can only be one PvP match at the same time.

Gauntlegrym PvEDuring the second phase you can choose to skip PvP and kill, collect, and turn in several items and monsters to gain points. To get your second share you need to at least kill a few monsters and turn in a few items.

Tip: Press X to open the scoreboard to see how many points you have.

Tip: Enter PvP through the manual gate in the Gauntlegrym map. This gate will unlock a few seconds earlier than the queue button on screen.

Rewards- You can buy PvP gear with the Grym coins you earn in this event, just check out the vendor across the entrance in Gauntlegrym.- You can earn PvP boons during the Gauntlegrym PvP event, look at your campaign window to see what they do and how to earn them.- During the runs you can win any epic T1 and T2 drops that you can use or sell/salvage for some AD.

3rd phase - Delzoun CryptsDuring this phase you can choose to enter either of the two dungeons, depending on how many shares you have. One share will get you into Fadelers Crypt (FC) and two shares and a win of your fraction will get you into Dwarf King Crypt (DK). You should start looking for other players to make a party with and run the dungeon as many times as you can. A normal team should be able to do the dungeons 3 times in a row, a good team 4 times and an awesome team 5 times before the event ends.

Companions are a great way to improve yourself. Not only do they have special skills to aid you in your battles, they can also apply their stats and gear to you and give active bonuses!

Active bonusesEach companion you slot in your active companion slots will grant its active bonus to you. This means you can have five extra bonuses, one from each companion like +100 defense or 3% action point gain and so on. Basically it is like wearing extra gear.

Augment companionsThese companions are a must have for any class. They give the wearer all their bonuses, rune and gear stats. They do not draw aggro from monsters and cannot die. Augment companions are: all five Ioun stones, a cat and a chicken.

There are several professions you might want to level up for items and AD. Each profession has up to 20 levels (except event and Black Ice professions) and need to be leveled separately on every character.

LeadershipIs a great way to make some more rough AD, gold and kits. You can make about 10-11k rough AD per day with this profession on level 20 and sell the items for gold.

Weaponsmithing and ArtificingMake your own main and/or off-hand weapons. Weaponsmithing is for Hunter Rangers, Great Weapon Fighters, Guardian Fighters and Trickster Rogues.Artificing is for Control Wizards, Devoted Clerics and Scourge Warlocks.

Mailsmithing, Tailoring, Leatherworking and PlatesmithingMake shirts, pants, armor and reinforcement kits for armor.Mailsmithing is for Devoted Clerics, Great Weapon fighters and power and recovery kits.Tailoring is for Control Wizards and lifesteal and armor penetration kits.Leatherworking is for Trickster Rogues, Hunter Rangers, Scourge Warlocks and critical strike and deflection kits.Platesmithing is for Guardian Fighters and defense and hit points kits.

JewelcraftingMake your own jewelry and reinforcement kits for jewelry. To learn more about this see the Jewelcrafting topic.

Companions Professions

Warning: Only augment companions can apply their full stats from runestones and gear to you.

Tip: Reinforcement kits for armor and jewelry are a great way to upgrade your gear. They can give a +100 crit for example.

Alchemy Make your own potions and dyes.

Black Ice ShapingThis profession belongs to the Icewind Dale campaign and gives you the opportunity to refine raw Black Ice into Black Ice, craft your own Purified or Corrupted Black Ice set and overload enchantments. This profession can only be ranked up to level 3 and is mostly good for PvP.

There are several ways to gain Astral Diamonds. In this topic we will explain what are the best and easiest ones to use.

DungeonsRun dungeons to farm for epic equipement, which you can sell on the Auction House or salvage for rough AD.

LeadershipWith leadership you can make about 10-11k rough AD per day.

FarmingYou can farm several places for valuable items you can sell for good prices. Just check the market and see what is out there for grasp.

ZenYou can buy Zen and trade it for Astral Diamonds in the Astral Diamond exhange. This is the fastest way to gain AD but it will cost you real life money.

Split farmingOur guild holds some split farm runs every now and then. We gather a group of 5 people to farm a certain dungeon with good drops and split the AD we have gathered equally. Multiple runs are often the best way to gain AD. This AD will be kept on your balance in our bankers book. You can withdraw the AD (with a 10% tax rate from the Auction House) or let us buy the items of your desire for you.

Commands/guild or /g - for guild chat./party or /p - for party chat./invite name@handle - to invite a player./tell or /t name/@handle/name@handle - for private message.Backspace - PM the last player that you PMed/has PMed you (Private Message)./say or /s - for say chat./zone or /z - for zone chat./lfg - for looking for group chat./emote kiss/wave/dance - to let your character do an interaction for fun./unstuck - move a couple of inches to free yourself from being stuck.

Profanity filterYou can turn off the profanity filter if you wish to see your chat uncensored by clicking on the tool wheel in the chat box, click on Chat Options and turn the profanity filter off.

Chat tabsIt is probably wise to make some chat tabs so you can tell the difference from guild chat, zone chat, private messages and party chat for example. You can make chat tabs by clicking on the tool wheel in the chat box and add a new chat tab, name it, hit enter to confirm the name and then start ticking and unticking the channels you want to see or not see in that particular tab.

StuckIf you are stuck or unable to leave a dungeon you might want to check out any of the solutions under GM Help. To go there press Esc > Help > Request GM Help > Stuck > choose any of the applying options and you’ll get a few options to help you out.

1. Move a few inches to free yourself from an object by clicking: Unstuck (can also type /unstuck).2. Defeat yourself so you will spawn at the campfire by clicking on the option: Defeat me.3. Leave an instance you cannot leave normally by clicking on the option: Abort Quest.

How to gain Astral Diamons Chatbox

Tip: Check which items are the most valuable on the Auction House and run the dungeons that drop them.

Tip: You can refine 24k rough AD daily. To optimize the AD gain, you should try to achieve this every day.

Warning: In our guild there will often be hawt, sexualy oriented jokes so if you are easily offended, you should leave the profanity filter

turned on ;)

From this chest you can pick either the Sharandar or Dread Ring coffer that will give you either 30 Feywild Sparks or 1 Thayan Cipher and 30 Thayan Scroll, these will help you progress faster through these campaigns. Press I and check your wealth tab to spend these Celestial Coins under Celestial Synegy.

Unlocking Icewind DaleTo unlock the Icewind Dale campaign you need to have two level 60 characters, have 10k gs and have 3 boons from either Sharandar or Dread Ring (3 boons from one area not both areas combined). You can earn boons faster in the Dread Ring, so we advice focusing on those.

Did you know?

Tip: To obtain the 3 boons from Dread Ring even faster, you should use the Dread Ring coffer from the Chest of Campaign Treasures.

Turning off the lightsUse /unlit 1 to turn off all lighting on objects and sets. This can be helpful if you are experiencing lags cause of light bugs (like the hallowed ground spell from the Devoted Cleric in the Temple of Tiamat) or if the flickering light from the Portal of Tuern quest annoys you. Use /unlit 0 to turn on the lights again. More commands can be found here.
