Online Benefits Enrollment
Quick Start Guide 2018 August 1st through August 17th, 2018
This guide is designed to help employees navigate the College’s on-line benefit enrollment
process. One-on-one help is available at the scheduled drop-in sessions or by calling or
visiting with a member of the Human Resources team.
STEP 1: Sign into ARCHES (accessible through the ARCHES link on the Faculty/Staff page on
augustana.edu) Link: http://www.augustana.edu/information-faculty-and-staff
STEP 2: Sign into ARCHES using your USER ID and PASSWORD.
Click the “LOG IN” Button
Enter your USER ID. This is your First and Last Name ALL
TOGETHER. (EXAMPLE: janedoe)
Enter your PASSWORD. If you do not know what your
password is, please contact ITS at x 7293

STEP 3: Click on the “Employees” Button
STEP 4: Click the “Benefit Enrollment” Link located under the “Employee Profile” Heading.
Click this “Employees” Button.
Click the “Benefit Enrollment” Link
3 STEP 5: This is the FIRST SCREEN of the Online Benefit Enrollment. On this screen you will see the benefits in which you are currently enrolled.
If you will NOT be making any changes to your enrollment choices from last year or adding any additional dependents, simply check the “Proceed to Enrollment Completion” box, then CLICK the “Continue” button.
If you will be making changes to your enrollment choices from last year, adding dependents or electing Flex Spending or HSA contribution amounts, please check the “Enroll or Change Benefits” button below. Then CLICK the “Continue” button.
Click the “Enroll or Change Benefits” button
to make your new benefit elections /add new
dependents/ or to make your new Flex
Spending or Health Savings Account election
amount for the new plan year.
Click the “Proceed to Enrollment
Completion” to keep all your
elections the same as last year. You
will NOT be enrolled in a Flex
Spending benefit or HSA if you
choose this option.
4 STEP 6: Select the benefits you wish to enroll in (or change) by checking the box of each benefit.
If you do not make any selections, your current benefits will END on August 31st.
STEP 7: Select Enrollment Level for each selected benefit
For each selected benefit, you will next elect whether you want to cover yourself, additional
dependents, or if you wish to OPT OUT or not enroll in the selected benefit. Below is an example for
the Medical Insurance screen.

Information on medical, vision and dental plans is
available by clicking on the appropriate links
below, as well as rate information for each benefit.

Insurance if you
do not wish to
participate in
any of our health
insurance plans.
When finished with clicking your Medical Plan election, Check the box next
to “Save Information and go to the next form” and then CLICK “Continue”.
5 STEP 8: Enrolling Other Family Members
If you have elected a Family Plan or an Employee +1 Plan for any of the benefits, you MUST enter your
Dependents into the Online Enrollment system using this screen.
CLICK the “Add or Manage Dependents” box and then CLICK “Continue”.
On this screen you must fill in your “Dependent” information. YOU MUST ENTER THE DEPENDENT’S
BIRTH DATE AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. Required fields are marked below (*). Then CLICK
“Save information and go to the next form” Box and CLICK “Submit”.

6 On this screen you can either choose to ADD ANOTHER NEW DEPENDENT (Spouse or Child) or if you
have added all your dependents, you can CLICK the “Return to the Dependents for This Benefit Form”
box. Then CLICK “Continue”.
You will repeat this step for each benefit where you are adding coverage for a family member.

7 STEP 9: Flexible Spending or HSA (Health Savings Account) Elections
If you have selected dependent care, medical flex spending account or an HSA account enrollment,
these screens will be where you designate your ANNUAL election amount.
Enter the ANNUAL AMOUNT (See example above)
Then CLICK “Save information and go to the next form” button and CLICK “Continue”.
You will repeat this process to enroll in Medical Flex Spending.
CLICK this link for an overview of the

When finished with clicking your Dependent Care Flex Spending election, Check the box
next to “Save Information and go to the next form” and then CLICK “Continue”.

SAMPLE OF THE MEDICAL FLEX SPENDING/HSA ACCOUNT SCREEN
YOU CAN ONLY ELECT AN HSA (HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT) IF YOU HAVE
ENROLLED IN A HIGH DEDUCTIBLE HEALTH PLAN (HDHP).
Note: There are new Maximum
Contribution amounts this year for Medical
Flex Spending and both the Health Savings
Account single and family.
9 STEP 10: Confirm Benefit Selections.
If they are correct, CLICK the “Ready to Sign” BUTTON and also CLICK the box marked “Electronic
Signature for Final Enrollment”. Then CLICK “Submit”.
If they are NOT correct, CLICK the “Save and go back to make other selections or corrections”
BUTTON. Then CLICK “Submit”. This will take you back to STEP 6 – Select Benefits to Enroll or
Change. You can make your corrections and/or add dependents by following the instructions again.
STEP 12: Completion. This screen below appears after you have successfully completed the Online
Benefit Enrollment Process. There is a button on this screen that you can CLICK that says “Print
Confirmation”. This will print out the benefit elections you just made for the 2017-18 plan year.

contact the HR Office at x7352 to arrange an individual appointment,
or come to any of the advertised drop in help sessions.
