Compressed air distribution in a ring systemIn order to size the ring system, half the nominal length of the entire ring system and the total required compressed air must be takeninto account.

The following points are of particular importance whencalculating the size of the compressed air system:● A drop in pressure from 6 to 5 bar will decrease your

machine and tool capacity by up to 27%.● Energy costs will rise by 10% if the compressed end

pressure is increased by 1 bar to compensate for the dropin pressure

● The following main criterium is decisive for compressed airpipes: an air displacement speed of 5 – 10 m/s must bemaintained.

● In addition to the straight pipe lengths, all pipe fittings areresponsible for the drop in pressure. Substitute pipelengths are given for these pipe fittings.

● To work out the length of a ring system, half of the nominallength of the entire system and the total requiredcompressed air must be taken into account.

● Pressure loss in the pipes is reduced at an operatingpressure above 7 bar. Contact your specialist to work outthe correct system size for your needs.

● The tables provide the outer diameter of the compressedair pipes as the article numbers incorporate the respectiveouter diameter.

● The data in the table below refer to a ring system. If asingle-feeder system is to be used as the main pipe,choose the pipe diameter one level above that stated in thetable.
