A recreation system is defined as any system of public recreation and playgrounds. In 1963 the Turner Community via Turner Unified School District (TUSD), by Kansas Statute 12-1924, established by resolution the Turner Recreation Commission (TRC). TRC prepares an annual budget for the operation of the recreation system. Prior to the certification of its budget to TUSD, TRC Administration and Board plan the TRC budget according to its operations and community needs. TRC then certifies the budget to TUSD for a tax levy sufficient to operate the recreation system. TRC provides a public meeting for taxpayers relating to the proposed budget and for the purpose of considering amendments to such proposed budget. TRC provides at least 10 days’ notice of the time and place of the meeting by publication in a weekly or daily newspaper having a general circulation in the taxing district. TUSD shall not be required to levy a tax in excess of the maximum tax levy set by the school district community by current resolution of the TUSD tax base.

Therefore, monies budgeted for the recreation system is legally and statutorily separate from the budget that TUSD utilizes for their operations of the school system. Monies budgeted for TRC may only be spent on the recreation system under direction of the TRC governing board and administration. These monies cannot be used for the operations of TUSD and are a separate tax levy used to finance the recreation system of TRC. TRC also utilizes other revenue sources such as program fees, grant monies, rental fees, and investment strategies to supplement the operations budget of the recreation system.

my friends. I will work hard in class to improve everyday. I will try new things and never say “I CAN’T”. I will always listen to my instructor. I will keep my hands to myself. I will be quiet when my instructor is talking. I will not chew gum in class.

I (the TRC Participant) understand that if I do not follow these class rules this is what I can expect to happen: If I act inappropriately I will be asked to sit down until I decide

that I am ready to participate with the rest of the class. If I act inappropriately again, the instructor will take me out in

the hallway to sit with my parent. If I continue to not listen to my instructor I will be asked to

leave the program.

It generally refers to the classical weapon traditions of Okinawan martial arts, most notable the bo (six foot staff), sai (short unsharpened dagger), tonfa (handled club), kama (unsharpened or wooden sickle), nunchaku (2 short clubs of wood connected by rope), eku-bo (boat oar of traditional Okinawan design), Nunte-Bo (six foot staff with a manji-sai on top) and Sword.

Turner Recreation’s Okinawan Kobudo Club trains with all of these weapons as a cultural preservation of an ancient art form.

Jessica Jo Ann “Jessie” Gentry November 24, 1985 - March 14, 2008. Jessie (22) and her unborn child went peacefully home to lie with our Lord on March 14, 2008, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Jessie's precious life was cut short as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on March 7.

Jessie was born to Bruce and Ruth Ann Gentry on Nov. 24, 1985, in KCK and was raised in Turner where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Turner. She was named Little Miss Turner in 1991, Turner Homecoming Queen and captain of the school drill team. Jessie's loving nature, infectious smile and warm hugs drew people to her. Jessie was the greatest big sister ever to Annie, Harlie and Gracie and was working to pursue a career as an Aesthetician. Jessie was full of love and life, and her life will carry on through organ donation.
