Links to TrailerThe clearest links between our film poster and horror trailer are the colour scheme and effects used. The main colour scheme of our poster is white, with hints of black in text and hair, and then red for the eye wound. This links clearly to our trailer as nearly the entire middle section of it is set in a bathroom, where the majority of the mise-en-scene is white, therefore connoting the cold, almost pure settings of the story. It also links back to the colour of the villain’s dress and shows the symbolism for her ghostliness and youth.

Another obvious link it the effect of smoke being used. We used smoke in both the trailer and the poster, in the trailer as an overlay for the texts and in the background of the poster. We felt that it symbolised flowing and water and also felt eerie and resembled water well, especially as we changed the smoke colour on the poster to blue.

Links to magazineWe linked our film poster to our magazine successfully through not only the obvious title, but through again, the repetition of a smokey effect, and the overall colour scheme of both.

In both of our products, you can see that there is a clear link between colours used, which are black, red, and a smokey blue/grey. We decided to make sure our colours linked well so it would be obvious that they are for the same film despite having different characters on the front of each.

We also clearly used the same title font that we used on our magazine to make the link even clearer, and by looking at the colour scheme and text alone, you can tell they are linked. On top of this, we used the smoke effect as the background for our magazine as well as the title of it, reflecting back to the smoke effect we used on the film poster.
