The European Union has set the target of increasing the share of biofuels and so-calledalternative fuels, including natural gas, in traffic to 10 and 20 %, respectively, by 2020.

A European project called GasHighWay has been established, aiming to the realisationof a comprehensive network of filling stations for these fuels spanning Europefrom the north, Finland and Sweden, to the south, Italy - in other words: the GasHighWay
