Tips for Submitting Successful Ads

COLOR ADSSubmit color ads with CMYK as the color mode and 300 dpi as the resolution.Images within the ad should also be CMYK and at least 300 dpi. Any tif or eps fi les that include fonts should have the fonts converted to paths.NO 4-COLOR BLACK TEXT! This can cause text to be blurry and hard to read. Double check ads, especially those created in photoshop, to make sure black text is 100% black and contains NO cyan, magenta or yellow.Make sure items such as black text are set to overprint images or colors.If you are using a knockout (ie. white text on a dark background) try not to make the text too small or thin, especially if thebackground is made up of more than one color. A good rule of thumb is to make the text at least 12pt. in size. If you are putting white text on a black background make sure the background is 100% black.

BLACK & WHITE ADSSubmit black and white ads with grayscale as the color mode and with at least 200 dpi as the resolution.Images within the ad should also be grayscale and at least 200 dpi.

ALL ADS SUBMITTEDAds must be one of the following fi le types: PDF, TIF or High Quality JPG.If images and fonts are not embedded in the fi le you MUST also send the linked images and font fi les.We are currently using the PC platform and use the following software: Adobe CS3 Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and QuarkXpress 5.01. Please contact us if you are submitting a fi le type that may not be compatible with our software.To submit your ad you can email it to: advertising@mininickel.com. PLEASE NOTE:Newspaper is tricky to print on. You can not expect newsprint ads to reproduce as they would on glossy stock or on your computer screen. Most color ads print darker than they look on your computer - please keep this in mind when submitting darker images.

If fonts are not embedded, converted to paths or included, we reserve the right to substitute them with a similar system font. We want your ads to print well. If these tips are not followed you may not be happy with your printing results.

A. Our local bulk weekly&daily rates are non-commissionable.B. A finance charge of 1.5% per month will be added to all unpaid balances over 30 days

past due.C. We ask for new accounts to be paid in advance until credit is approved.D. All political advertising must be prepaid&carry proper disclaimers, as per state law.E. The Mini Nickel reserves the right to short-rate contracts for

non-fulfillment at the appropriate rate for actual performanceF. All monthly billing statements are due in full within 30 days of invoice date, providing

credit has been established. Ads which require payment in advance include, but are not limited to, political, going-out-of-business, bankruptcy&private party.

G. We will need to interrupt your ad schedule if your account balance goes unpaid beyond 90 days. Please call us if you have a problem in payment. We will work with you to agree on terms that will return your contract to good standing.

General:A. Please check your ad carefully of errors; credits will be issued when corrections or

changes have not been done in accordance to the advertiser’s request. It is agreed that in no case shall the Mini Nickel be help liable for selling losses incurred by errors in publication.

B. On successive run advertising we will spot check your ad for error on the first day the advertisement appears. Credit is allowed for first insertion only.

C. Right is reserved to refuse any ad preprint at the discretion of the newspaper. The right to classify, revise, edit, or reject any advertisement is reserved by the Publisher.

D. News style/comic style/political & issue ads must be bordered with the word “Advertisement” at the top of the ad.

E. We will make every effort to return your art&elements just as soon as your ad schedule is complete. We cannot be responsible for advertising materials left in our possession for more than 30 days.

F. We will try to fulfill position requests whenever you indicate a preference, but position is often dictated by press requirements, ad size&paid advertising requests. Please let us know when you have a preference. We will do our best to comply.

G. All rates subject to revision by the Mini Nickel upon 30 days notice.H. The Advertiser assumes liability for the content of all advertising that he/she

authorizes for publication,&claims that arise therefore may not be made against the Publisher.

I. It is our policy to provide you with a proof of your ad and, if necessary, a revised copy for your records. All corrections must be finalized by the ad kill deadline. If you need further assistance after your proof, please call your advertising sales representative.

Private Party AdvertisingA. Sorry, No Credit or cash refunds for early cancellation. Bills are mailed Friday after

issue date. All bills payable upon receipt. Customer shall assume responsibility for checking accuracy the 1st week as is published. The Mini Nickel will not be liable for failure to publish an ad as requested or for more than one incorrect insertion of an advertisement. In the event of any error or omission in printing or publication of an advertisement, a maximum liability shall be limited to an adjustment for the cost of the space occupied by the error, with corrected advertisement. Under no circumstances shall the Mini Nickel be liable for consequential damages of any kind. The Mini Nickel reserves the right to refuse to publish any advertisement, to correctly classify any advertisement & to delete objectionable words or phrases. Submission of an advertisement does not constitute an agreement for continued publication. NOTICE: Although the Mini Nickel considers its source data to be reliable, reporting inaccuracies can occur. Consequently readers using this information to so at their own risk.
