Promise To P«^y Up Erases Jail Term David Condon of Andes was ar- restedt last week Friday by state police of the Margaretville sub- station on a charge of petit lar- ceny arising from the issue of three fraudulent checks. Arraigned before Justice of the Peace William Hubbell, Condon pleaded guilty. A 30-day sentence was suspended on the condition that Condon make restitution to the complainant, Aaron Sliter. Harry L. Hulbert of Oneonta paid a $100 fine for highway over- weight Monday. Hulbert, who pleaded guilty before Justice of the Peace Dbnald Fenton, was picked up by Margaretville state police on May 13 as he was bound for Roxbury with a load of brick. His truck was oyerioaded on one wheel. J P Court Reported 23 Cases In May Phoenicia, June 10. — TTiirteen vehicle and traffic cases were Jiandled during May in the court of Justice of the Peace William Malloy. There were also five criminal and five civil compro- mise conservation cases. Total fines and penalties collected dur- ing the month \vas $312.50. Vehicle and traffic violations consisted of jimiping double white lines in passing, failing to stop at .intersections, speeding through the village zones and drunken driv- ing. One drunken driver was given a $25 fine and five days in jail with mandatory revocation of license for minimum of one year. New York Paid Riparian Claims Payments for riparian claims of property owners along the Dela- ware below the Downsville dam have been made to six. Hosea and Emilie Sprague, who have a summer cottage along Old House eddy, received $5,132.30. They have a two-room cottage with 62 feet of frontage along the river. He received a check for $10,919.85. John H Holmes, formerly of Downsville, received $5,025.72. He had a summer 'cottage near the Jesse Wakeman place. Sherman Shields of Oxford re- ceived $5,603.38. He owned a cot- tage near Shinhopple bridge. The cottage had no modern improve- ments and contained three rooms. -Gus Liddle, Downsville, had a vacant lot with 70 feet frontage on the river. Promise To P« y Up Erases Jail Term

David Condon of Andes was ar- restedt last week Friday by state police of the M argaretville sub­sta tion on a charge of petit la r­ceny arising from the issue of th ree fraudulent checks.

Arraigned before Justice of the Peace William Hubbell, Condon pleaded guilty. A 30-day sentence w as suspended on the condition th a t Condon make restitution to th e complainant, Aaron Sliter.

H arry L. Hulbert of Oneonta paid a $100 fine for highway over­weight Monday. Hulbert, who pleaded guilty before Justice of th e Peace Dbnald Fenton, was picked up by M argaretville state police on May 13 as he was bound fo r Roxbury with a load of brick. H is truck was oyerioaded on one wheel.

J P Court Reported 23 Cases In May

Phoenicia, June 10. — TTiirteen vehicle and traffic cases were Jiandled during May in the court of Justice of the Peace William Malloy. There were also five crim inal and five civil compro­mise conservation cases. Total fines and penalties collected dur­in g the month \vas $312.50.

Vehicle and traffic violations consisted of jimiping double white lines in passing, failing to stop a t .intersections, speeding through the village zones and drunken driv­ing. One drunken driver was given a $25 fine and five days in ja il w ith m andatory revocation of license for minimum of one year. New York Paid Riparian Claims

Paym ents for riparian claims of property owners along the Dela­ware below the Downsville dam have been made to six.

Hosea and Emilie Sprague, who have a summer cottage along Old House eddy, received $5,132.30. They have a two-room cottage w ith 62 feet of frontage along the river.

Mrs. Sprague told the commis­sioners of appreiisal tha t when re­leases of w ater from .tiie dam are large the w ater gets very cold and there is an evening fog which makes bathing and fishing im­possible. When the releases are very low, she said, there is stag­nant w ater and a terrible odor.

Fred Sprague of Roscoe owns a two-room cottage w ith 83 feet of frontage on the river. Mr. Sprague stated, th a t he also ex­perienced the same conditions th a t Mrs. Sprague testified to and th a t it was very imcomfortable now in the summer and many times weis necessary to light the fireplace to drive out dampness. He received $5,189.50.

Jesse Wakeman, Downsville, had a summer cottage a t Shin- hopple w ith 85 feet of frontage on the river. The cottage was about 200 feet from the river and contained six rooms. He received a check for $10,919.85.

John H Holmes, formerly of Downsville, received $5,025.72. He had a summer 'cottage near the Jesse Wakeman place.

Sherman Shields of Oxford re­ceived $5,603.38. He owned a cot­tage near Shinhopple bridge. The cottage had no modern improve­ments and contained three rooms. -G us Liddle, Downsville, had a

vacant lot with 70 feet frontage on the river. His check amounted to $1,707.21.

These amoimts named included interest and costs.
