Here’s How We Stack Up

It makes it really easy to pump out a well.~Clarence Dyck - Pilot Projects Coordinator at Encana

Running the FLATpak is simple, like running one string, not three. It’s cheap and easy and non-complicated.

It took just one truck with a spool to inject the FLATpak.... As a deployment system, it’s working great.

Working with top-tier companies such as Devon, EOG, Chesapeake, Encana and Husky Energy to deliquify vertical and horizontal gas and oil wells throughout North America, CJS has installed hundreds of thousands of feet of FLATpak™ umbilical to convey permanent ALSs

In a joint venture with Source Rock Energy, CJS has performed cleanouts on low permeability horizontal wells and low pressure gas and oil wells using FLATpak™ paired with a modi ed Jet Pump. With a closed hydraulic circuit, no back pressure is placed on the reservoir facilitating a non invasive, e cient cleanout system resulting in improved post cleanout production results.

What isDeveloped in 2007 and

commercialized in 2008, CJS’s FLATpak™ patent pending technology is designed to meet the current industry challenge of nding exible and cost-e ective means to deliquify low-permeability sand, shale, and low pressure marginal production wells. The FLATpak™ umbilical features a rectangular matrix design, encapsulating multiple coiled tubing strings or electrical conduits into one uniform body using a high strength thermoplastic jacket.

FLATpak™ umbilical can be con gured to convey and actuate virtually any arti cial lift system into an oil or gas well. FLATpak™ can also be used to deploy pumps for well cleanout service operations and remove liquid, sand, or bitumen from lled wellbores.

FLATpak™ provides a cost e ective and convenient means of conveying downhole pumps by combining multiple services to reduce the footprint on location. In a single service operation, FLATpak™ can convey production tubing, capillary injection strings, and electric cable for an ESP deploy. Regardless of its components, FLATpak™ maintains the same rectangular shape so that conventional coiled tubing units can deploy it.

To date, FLATpak™ has successfully conveyed

Hydraulic Submersible Pumps, Jet Pumps and Gas Lift Systems while development continues to facilitate FLATpak™ conveyed hydraulically powered progressive cavity pumps and other typical rod driven

systems.

A History of Success

FLATpak™ can be deployed using conventional shallow coiled tubing units with minor modi cations. To ensure HS&E compliance, the stripper BOP is modi ed to comply with FLATpak™’s rectangular shape and is pressure tested for integrity. To

adapt the injector for FLATpak™ deployment, the forged blocks are modi ed and the gripper section is milled into a at

shape. To complement FLATpak™, CJS has developed

a specialized hanger and wellhead system that utilizes a unique multiple slip and rubber con guration

that delivers simple well control and safety for the nal nipple up phase of the completion. The coiled tubing strings are fed through the hanger and wellhead by conventional means using a typical hang

o procedure.

Integration

FLATpak™’s durable encapsulation material has been used extensively to encapsulate hydraulic control lines for subsurface control safety valves, data acquisition electrical cables, and chemical injection capillary tubes. Our jacketing material o ers temperature and abrasion resistance and impermeability to oil eld solvents and chemicals.

Durable

Based on pump design requirements, wellbore chemistry and pressure/temperature parameters, the outside diameter, and wall thickness of the tubing can be designed to meet almost any application. Further, there are outside diameter coatings and alternative alloys available that can make this system

compliant for corrosive applications.

Adaptable

Industry StandardFLATpak™’s reliability, cycle fatigue, and tube speci cations are industry standard and have proven to meet and exceed any wellbore requirements.

Due to its robust nature, FLATpak™ can be cycled, enabling it to perform multiple cleanouts in a single day. Because of FLATpak™’s ability to be installed and retrieved repeatedly, arti cial lift systems (ALSs) can be tested in wells prior to permanent installation. As FLATpak™ is conveyed using conventional coiled tubing procedures, live well intervention is made possible, eliminating potential formation damage by using kill uids for well control. As a deployment method for hydraulic based ALSs, FLATpak™ can be used to land pumps in deviated wells or horizontal laterals.
