Year after year, our guests and sponsors praise this first-class event for its incredible attention to detail, deluxe gift packages, superlative hospitality and the exclusive course that distinguishes it as one of the East Bay’s elite tournaments.

At UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, everything we do is focused on making kids better. And when all you do is help kids get better, something wonderful happens: they make you better.
The doctors, nurses and other specialists at UCSF Benioff Oakland work exclusively with kids every day. They see the subtle things others could miss. They can find where it hurts when a child is too young to tell.
And they know it takes more than advanced pediatric medicine to speed a child’s recovery. It takes an entire organization focused on all of a child’s needs, including the need to simply be a child. That’s why, along with some of the world’s most sophisticated treatment and technology, you’ll also see an art therapist working with
kids at their bedsides, a pediatric anesthesiologist using toys to relax a three year-old before surgery, and an endless array of other comforts for children. Not just because they love them, but also because they understand the science behind giving them a sense of well-being.
Over the last 100 years, UCSF Benioff Oakland has remained committed to providing quality care regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Because of its founding mission to provide all kids equal access to exceptional care, over 70% of the young patients annually served at Children’s are from low-income families. The hospital is able to fulfill this mission only with the support of generous community partners like you.

child life: helping kids be kidsGood health is about a lot more than medicine and surgery. It’s a balance of so many things, not the least of which is a positive outlook, a feeling of security, and continued engagement in life. This is especially true for kids facing surgery or an extended hospital stay for the first, fifth, or twentieth time.
From the start, over 100 years ago, it has been the goal of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland to treat the whole child, and not just the illness or disease.
The Child Life Program at UCSF Benioff Oakland focuses on acclimating children to the hospital setting and helping them adapt to the hospital experience—with the least amount of stress. Child life specialists work to reduce children’s fears and anxieties through therapeutic play, education, and self-expression. The hospital also includes siblings and families in this “process of play” by offering a variety of services that ensure that every member of the family benefits from the hospital experience.
Children’s is a pioneer in developing ways to address the social, emotional and developmental needs of our patients. We were one of the first hospitals to embrace a child life model bringing together a staff of highly trained specialists with advanced degrees in child life, child development,
human development, or recreation therapy. These dedicated staff have a big impact on a young patient’s day-to-day experience, making sure that both health and happiness are a priority throughout their hospital stay.
Your support of the Child Life Program at UCSF Benioff Oakland will help patients
understand and adapt to the hospital experience—and keep them loving life every step of the way. Funds will directly support games, books, movies, video games, and other forms of entertainment that help alleviate some of the isolation and discomfort that young patients experience on a daily basis.
