www. cgresd.net In 2003, a needs assessment was conducted to determine the direction for development in the greater Harrison area. The need for leaders within the community was identified. Like many communities, Harrison realized that it was losing many of its leaders to death or relocation and needed to “grow” more. So, the Harrison Area Leadership Program was established. The first year (2003-2004) 10 people enrolled in the program. Since the first Leadership Institute was so successful, it was determined that the next program would be a county wide program. So, in 2005 the first Clare County Leadership Institute was launched with twelve participants enrolled, and has continued to grow and develop Community Leaders every year. “The Clare County Leadership Institute helped to connect me, as a resident and professional, with the resources available in Clare County. This allowed me to be more effective in my profession and discover new ways to serve in my community” -Eric Johnson 2018/19 Graduate
