In 2003, a needs assessment was
conducted to determine the direction fordevelopment in the greater Harrison
area.
The need for leaders within thecommunity was identified.
Like many communities, Harrisonrealized that it was losing many of its
leaders to death or relocation and neededto “grow” more.
So, the Harrison Area LeadershipProgram was established. The first year(2003-2004) 10 people enrolled in the
program. Since the first LeadershipInstitute was so successful, it was
determined that the next program wouldbe a county wide program.
So, in 2005 the first Clare County
Leadership Institute was launched withtwelve participants enrolled, and has
continued to grow and developCommunity Leaders every year.
“The Clare County Leadership Institutehelped to connect me, as a resident and
professional, with the resources availablein Clare County. This allowed me to be
more effective in my profession anddiscover new ways to serve in my
community”
