Question 1

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have followed conventions and forms made by previous music magazines because I know they are successful and would like mine to follow this, such as:

Masthead … bold. Stands out

Subheadings…still bold much smaller … want you to buy the magazine to read the articles

The use of 3 colours I feel is successful, makes the magazine look structured and sophisticated I feel all different colours can sometimes make it look tacky and there has been lack of thought.

Question 5

• How did you attract/ address your audience?

• I used bold headings and pictures of people at festivals and raves where they look as if they’re having a good time this draws the audience in, I wanted my magazine to capture the whole mood and tone of a night out raving and they way the audience can really get a feel of the music.

Question 6

• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When I started I didn’t know how to use Photoshop, the first time I had used it was in my preliminary task so was completely new, from trial and error I now understand a lot more on Photoshop, I was able to blend photographs into the background, edit the colour and the shadows, and I learnt how to add glows and shadows to my texts and downloaded different types of fonts for my magazine. I now feel a lot more comfortable on Photoshop and feel that this program has really helped me to further my ideas for my magazine and has made it look much more professional.

Question 7

• Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I can see so much progression and feel I have learnt much more. As you can see on my preliminary task my skills were very limited whereas for my full product it is much more advanced.

For my full product I didn’t base my magazine on what I preferred and what I thought people would like, I actually did surveys and asked my target audience what they're preferred genres were.
