Welcome to our 8th Annual Sale! It’s hard to believe we’ve been selling bulls for 18 years but one thing remains the same; our commitment to producing cattle that are right for the times. We are not ones to chase the latest trends or fads offered by the purebred industry. We believe in time
tested genetics and only incorporating new ones with the goal of complimenting what already exists. The foundation in our mother cows is essential to our success. Time and time again, this industry has proven that consistency is key. We are very proud of the consistency bulls purchased through our offering have provided to their new owners.
We are excited to continue working with Ron and Marilyn of Ivanhoe Angus. It’s awesome to work with people who are so similar to us in their ideas of good cattle. Tom and Sharon of Sunnyside Simmentals are also back with us on the Simmental side. Adding to the mix this year is a group of Angus bulls from the newly formed Abound Livestock. You will recognize the faces of Brian and Lisa and we are sure you’ll be impressed with the work they’re doing.
Top quality groups of replacement heifers from Rick & Bonnie Clubbe and the Abound program will also be available. These females are outstanding and we strongly believe they’d be a great addition to any program.
We feed bulls with longevity in mind on a high forage diet and present them to you in their working gear. The hope is they remain able to develop and grow in the coming years. You will notice our weaning weights may be lower than other herds. We do not introduce grain until close to weaning so the weaning weights you see here are solely the work of our cows. After weaning, our bulls have as much space to roam as you’ll find in the purebred industry. This helps keep the bulls athletic and sound for breeding. They come to you ready to work rather than melt down.
In closing, I would like to leave you with a thought I recently came across. It said, ‘The bulls you buy this year will give you their first calves in 2019. His first daughters will calve in 2021 and, if all goes well, you will continue to have calves from him until 2024 or longer. This means in 2034, your 10 year old cows could still be out of the bull you buy this
year and many of your young and middle aged cows will be his descendants. Short term decisions do not exist in this business. Find the best bulls you can afford from a trusted, professional source who makes their living the same way you do.’
www.cityviewsimmentals.com and our Facebook page will have updates moving forward. We look forward to seeing you at Johnstones on March 20 for lunch at 11:30. We encourage you to get in touch beforehand if you have any questions or if you’d like to tour at the farm. The bulls will be at the Mart starting March 18.
The Barnett Family
Ron & I are pleased to welcome everyone to the 8th Annual City View Simmentals & Ivanhoe Angus Bull Sale with Sunnyside Simmentals and Abound Livestock.
F o r u s , t h e l i v e s t o c k i n d u s t r y exemplifies a positive attitude about today and a strong faith in the future of tomorrow. Ron and I have been honoured to learn the lessons of the cattle industry and do have a strong faith in the future of Ivanhoe Angus. This past year we travelled many, many miles watching and enjoying our five grandkids show their 4-H projects. It is wonderful to see our family developing their own cattle herds and we have a strong faith in the future of their lifestyles and families.
This past winter we had the opportunity to sell a package of thirty cows to wonderful young cattle breeders at Abound Livestock, Brian Barnett and Lisa Martin. Ron and I only hope that raising and breeding Angus cattle bring them as many opportunities and wonderful friends in the Angus breed as we’ve experienced.
Our bulls are being developed on the same ration that has been used for the past seven sales. The two year old bulls were summered on
pasture and they will be semen tested and ready to go. The yearling bulls, because of their age at sale time, will be vet inspected and can return to the farm where they will continue to be developed. The bulls will be semen tested and delivered later in the spring.
The bulls will be v i d e o e d o n February 26 and t h o s e c a n b e v i e w e d a t l ivestockplus.ca. For the first time,
we have bulls sired by Crescent Creek Rito 139C as well as Emblazon 62W, Sandy Bar Ideal, and Sandy Bar Ambush. We are very proud of the uniformity in both the two year olds and the yearlings. They have strong breed character and are structurally correct. We are also consigning replacement heifers sired by Sandy Bar Ideal 185W 216Y to the sale. These heifers have great length of spine and are a very uniform group. They will be vet inspected and pasture ready.
We at Ivanhoe are very thankful for our customers and their continued support of our program. Ron and I truly enjoy each and every visit we have when we deliver the sale animals.
At this time we would also like to thank the Barnett family and Turnbull family for their support and friendship, all the folks involved with Johnstone Auction Mart for their work and of course Shane Castle. Please accept this as our invitation to visit the farm to see the sires and dams of the Ivanhoe bulls and females. Plan to come early on March 20, view the cattle and join us for lunch.

LRX Rocket 51B is our walking fullblood sire who happens to also be polled. We purchased him from the Robb family a couple years ago when we started to rebuild the fullblood division of City View. We knew we wanted to build the polled gene into the cattle but to not compromise performance and the maternal traits we’ve always admired in the fullblood cattle. We also wanted to attach a strong EPD profile, particularly to increase milk data. Rocket sees double duty; after breeding purebred females he moves over and works in Dad’s commercial herd. His first group of daughters look tremendous and this group of sons certainly pull their weight. There are three fullblood options here including a bull we displayed at Agribition and a blaze faced red factor son who has a great deal to offer. Watch for progeny from his daughters in coming years as we are confident they will be true matrons in our program.

Exit Strategy is the fullblood bull we displayed at Agribition last fall. He garnered a great deal of attention from foreign and domestic breeders alike. He has just a scab scur that has never been trimmed and a polled skull shape. His dam is flat out stunning! She is every inch a lady; so angular and feminine, heavy milking, big barrelled and so attractive! Combine that with the rugged masculinity of Rocket and Exit Strategy 11E is the result. He is so long sided, great natured, big nutted and heavy pigmented. We believe he has great potential as a breeder bull. We strongly encourage you to see him for yourself, there’s no way we can do him justice in words!

Calving ease and eye appeal in a really soft made, hairy package is one way to describe Expert Opinion. Just a 68lb birthweight, a calving ease EPD of 17, and out of Barbossa who is among the most respected calving ease fullblood bulls in the breed. His dam is a beautiful two year old from Anchor D who did a fantastic job on her first attempt. In our (not so) expert opinion, lot 4 is a bull who’ll have a lot of admirers sale day. He is a prospect for the heifer pasture.

A great combination of fullblood genetics on a red mama cow created this extremely stout, big ribbed, moderately designed son of a gun. His dam is a massive barrelled, solid red cow with an ideal udder who never has a bad day. Emperor was a one we had on our short list to display through the fall and we are sure you’ll see why when you see him for yourself. He is very good!

Exile is a bull we really love! He is a great example of why we value the fullblood genetics of our breed so much. He is a beef bull from end to end who offers a great performance oriented breeding piece wrapped mellow buckskin hide. With pigment on both eyes, a massive top and hip and an extremely angular, feminine mama behind him, here’s a bull with endless possibilities down the road. He patterns a great deal like the Rocket 51B in his overall design. A bull we like a great deal!

Export A is a royally bred fullblood bull with black pigment around his eyes. His mother is a beautiful young cow who is very moderate in size, has a textbook udder and is out of Spitfire, a bull who has been very well used in the breed. Every now and then we dip in to the tank and bull out some older semen. Sargent has worked well in many programs over the years and Export A is a good example, Note the moderate birth values, strong EPD set and the evaluate this bull in the flesh. He is an impressive individual!
Look at the pedigree on this stout, cool made rascal! Universe 28U may be among the best known bulls in the breed for creating elite females. His dam is an absolute stunning female from the Skeels program. Moderate at birth, hairy and all the built in goods to create a whole herd of stunning females for you. Here is a bull with as much consistency bred into his pedigree as any. We missed getting a head shot of Elzinga but he has the same markings on either side of his head. Elzinga is one to buy with surefire confidence!
A bull best known as Darrell and one with a unique story. Aaron went to the dispersal for Maronda Simmentals a couple years ago and proved his inability to go to a sale and not buy something. He bought one embryo. Here is Darrell! He is extremely long bodied, POLLED and ready to cover a lot of miles. His daughters will be ideal and his sons will have ample grow. We aren’t going to convince you he’s an attractive fella but there is a lot of use in lot 7 with lots of pigment and that polled head.

Encore is an exciting individual we are proud to offer for your appraisal. We bought Mind Games from Black Gold a couple years ago and were so excited about him until an injury at the end of breeding meant no semen in the tank. Long story short, Encore is the only son who will ever sell. Thankfully, we have several daughters at home in the heifer pen that are real standouts. Encore is hairy, stout, and dog quiet. His mother is a beautiful Jet Run/Boss Lady cow with a perfect udder. Her first son sold last year to Trevor Benson and Bonnie Brandt at Lisieux. He has a spot of white in the middle of his forehead and spent some time on our short list to be part of the display team. Take a very close look at this one and we are sure you will like what you find!
Essential is quite a bull, one we like on his own merits but with a dam like his we love him a lot. The 9W female is completely ideal in many ways and will likely end up being a donor soon. She has a long line of successful progeny including Brewhouse who was the high seller in 2015 to Twin Curves Ranch. Essential was a part of our display team in Brandon where he placed 3rd in a very strong class and Medicine Hat Pen Show. He has as stout a quarter as any, a massive top and rib shape and is extremely dark red. His sire was used through AI and certainly left performance oriented cattle which you’ll see if you look at the EPD valuation on lot 8. He was a twin to a heifer but was raised a single wasting no time making up ground. We really think Essential is just that; essential to your next breeding season!

Several years ago we were in the market for a bomb proof calving ease sire that offered traits beyond that. He still needed to leave some growth and usability beyond the heifer pen. Blaine and Brian went to Ashworth’s sale with a couple bulls in mind who fit the bill and Rock was one of them. He ended up topping the sale at $21000 but he was worth every penny! Rock continues to rank in the top 1% of the breed for calving ease and maternal calving ease and top 4% for birthweight but also offers above average performance and milk data. The best part of Rock might be that the numbers match the results. His calves are consistently designed and come long bodied, clean skulled and have impressive vigour at birth. These traits are no fluke. His pedigree is loaded with calving ease sires. We’ve continued to use Rock on some mature females to moderate birthweight and you’ll find those results among the next 10 lots. His first daughters calved this winter and they are exceeding our expectations in terms of udder design and maternal character. Rock 36B is a sire you’ll see in our pedigrees for years to come. He is the real deal!

Eruption is a solid red Rock son who is very typical of the sire group in his length of spine, thick hair coat and sleek front end. His two year old Stubby sired mother comes from one of our oldest cow families building a great maternal consistency into Eruption. He is very sound on the move, big middled, and will be extremely impressive as a mature bull.
Here's a bald faced Rock son with an impressive rib shape and great length of body. His dam is even more impressive in the flesh as she is pictured. She’s got a perfect udder and massive volume in a moderate package. She has sent sons to the Back 40 Ranch and the Blackwell Brothers. Expansion is a total stud who patterns a great deal like his grandsire, Bodybuilder, a bull who has made as great an impact on the Simmental breed as any. We use Rock on select mature cows to moderate birthweight and shorten gestation. Expansion is the absolutely ideal result of one of those matings. His dam is a mountain of a cow, liver red in colour, who consistently weans big results. She has sent sons to the Esmonds, Horse Creek Ranch and Roy Smith. If you want to see an exceptional EPD profile, look no further than Expansion. He is well above breed average in all of the commonly used categories. Look for Expansion to pay big dividends for years to come.
Lot 12 is a moderate, stout and hairy Rock son with a great look to him. His dam is the result of an embryo mating between Boondock and the great 127T, a mating that really made sense for us. The proof is in the pudding as they say because 565C and her sisters produced tremendous results in their first trip out. Expedition has big potential in the heifer pen with just a 79 pound birthweight and a CE EPD of over 15.
Evolution is one of the most moderate Rock sons who is backed by a great Bodybuilder two year old dam who comes from another of our original cow families. We are so proud of our young cows when they knock it out of the park on their first attempt. Soggy and soft with lots of hair, Evolution will have a great deal of friends sale day.

Ultra long bodied and clean in his design, Esquire wasn’t excited about having his picture taken on a -34 wind chill day. He is very typical of the sire group in his overall design and type. One of the many cool things about these Rock cattle is how they get better day after day. Esquire has a great set of numbers behind him and will be worth the drive sale day!
Take a very close look here. Lighter in his colour, Essex has all the goods we’ve come to expect in the Rock sons and then some! Check our his above average EPD profile and then analyze him in the flesh. Massive volume, huge hip and long bodied, he has herd bull written all over him. Backed by a beautiful fullblood mama cow with a stunning udder, Essex will leave an elite group of daughters and sire a set of steer calves that stretch your wallet.
Expedia is longer than a well rope and built for years of soundness. Out of an embryo daughter of the great Jesse 6J cow, his maternal brother sold last year to Brimner Cattle. These Rock sons have their largest growth period from 10-14 months of age when they really fill out. Look for them sale day because they will change a huge amount from picture time.

A moderate birthweight, big barrelled, and stout made are just a few ways to describe Electrify. His young dam came through the Sunnyside program where Tom and Sharon build the Roxy cow family. His granddam, 45U is also the dam of lot 25. One of the many things we like about these Rock sons is how much they cover the middle ground. They aren’t extreme in any one way but get a lot of things right!
Stop and take a second look at Epic because we feel he is just that! He’s one of the bulls we full would be successful on heifers being out of Rock, an 82 pound birthweight, and a mother who goes back to Winchester who was a sleep easy calving ease option. His grandma is also the dam of lot 28. He is the youngest in our offering however gives up nothing in terms of performance to his older counterparts. We have him evaluated very high and are sure you will to.

A little bit of a different twist when it comes to pedigree on lot 20. Envision is a Winchester son, a bull we’ve used on heifers for a number of years with great success. They come easy and are designed for easy calving. Envision’s dam is a two year old from SIBL Simmentals who did a great job on her first attempt. She has a very tidy udder and has the looks of a great female for years to come. Just an 84 pound birthweight and a calving ease of over 14 make Envision a candidate for breeding heifers. He is a big middled, good haired bull that will be easy to find sale day.

Here might be the stoutest made, soggiest option in the whole deal. Sired by Unbeaten who was the last Champion bull we had at Regina Bull Sale, Excaliber is extremely sound, big hipped and massive in his muscle design. His dam is a beautiful female who has an extremely bright future. This is a bull that may be overlooked because he is horned however we strongly believe he is an absolute standout with a great deal to offer. If you sell by the pound, Excaliber is just what you’re looking for! Don’t let the horned factor hold you back from an absolutely standout future herdbull.
Our bulls are developed a l i tt le differently than many pens. Their ration does not include silage and is low starch, high roughage based. They are also kept athletic using a 3 acre pen on a steep h i l l s i d e . We b e l i e v e longevity is key over fat.
One of the leading ladies in our lives is Grandma Myrtle Hennenfent. She had a challenging year but we can always count on her for fresh baking, hot coffee and a great visit.

We are not in the business of raising two year olds but when bulls this good hit the ground in April, it’s difficult to not give them a shot. And are we glad we did! Dauntless is an exceptional individual who is perfectly sound, big footed and has been developed for longevity. His dam is a stunning female with generations of big blaze faces bred in. He is a virgin bull who spent summer and fall on grass. He can occasionally get nervous when singled out but we have no concerns on his disposition. You won’t find him fat sale day either, just an honest to goodness, hardworking two year old with years of hard use ahead of him.
Here's a soft middled, big ribbed son of Stubby we displayed through the fall at Agribition and in Medicine Hat. His pedigree represents some of the greats of our program with Stubby and Broker. His great granddam is a cow called Unbelievable 21U who is also the dam of lot 13 so there’s lots of longevity in this cow family. A really balanced set of EPD’s combined with great actual performance data, his young mama did a fantastic job and milks with a textbook udder. He is homozygous polled and heterozygous black. El Torro - one we like a great deal!
We are proud to offer another group of 129A sons that is every bit as good as the previous. His offspring continue to show the depth of quality we’ve come to expect from 129A. He has been so consistent in stamping his progeny in every way from birth weight to look to performance. His first daughters are now in production and they are already proving to be stellar mama cows who will play a major role in our work for years to come. As a result, we will have over 20 daughters at work soon. We acquired 129A to add additional power and muscle mass to our red cattle and he did just that for us.

Somehow, Exemplify ended up lot 24 but likely should have started the book. He was displayed through the fall and stood second in class to the calf champion in Brandon, garnering a great deal of attention from some very elite cattle producers. He is a full brother to another bull we campaigned a couple years ago that sold to Twin Curves Ranch. He is a tremendous beast backed by a generations of exceptional Mama cows who will be very easy to find sale day. He exemplifies what we aim to produce!
Enhanced is a very typical Stubby son right down to his skull shape and hair coat. He has a couple sisters working for us including the dam of lot 18. Dark red, long bodied and lots of maternal, this is the type of bull that will quietly make you money for years to come.
A high performing Stubby son we like a great deal! He is one of the larger framed bulls in the sire group and is also one of the darkest coloured. His Ishee dam consistently does a great job and has sons working for Raymond Wild and Beryl & Wendell Campbell. No, he is not smooth clean polled but he is extremely impressive and is a sure bet when it comes to producing really great replacement females and heavy weight steer calves.

Another high performing Stubby son backed by a really beautiful mother cow who comes from the Boss Lady family. Like his great mother, he is big middled and extremely sound on the move. The 838 daughters have become a cornerstone of our program. They consistently produce beyond themselves and wean great results. Element is the fifth son of 23Y to sell with brothers who’ve worked for Rick & Bonnie Clubbe, Brad & Tammy Evans, Coteau Hills Land & Cattle and Bar KM Cattle Co.
Entity is another of these really consistent Stubby sons our customers have come to expect from this great sire. His dam is an older cow from the Sunnyside program who is also the granddam of lot 19. She is also the mother of a bull sold to John Laybourne last year. He is just as dark as he looks in his picture and offers an extremely balanced EPD profile.
Here’s an extremely dark red, eye catching Stubby son who is maybe more moderate framed than others in the sire group. He patterns much like his beautiful 838 dam in terms of frame and body mass. A maternal brother sold to Doug & Joan Gomersall a couple years back. Very moderate at birth and extremely high in maternal value, Edge will add hair and pattern to his calf crop and leave elite daughters.

This is the fourth and final calf crop from Broker and we are continually impressed by the job this powerhouse herdsire does. To date his sons have averaged $7100 which is a great indicator of the acceptance he leaves in his offspring. We have never used a bull as long bodied as this guy is and we love the extension he provides from the shoulder forward. He has done exactly what we’d hoped he’d do by increasing the frame size of our females just slightly but he’s also added a ton of raw power. He ranks in the top 5% of the breed for yearling performance and carcass weight data. There are a lot of Broker cattle around but this guy has one of the highest milk numbers of any we’ve seen. This is largely thanks to his beautiful Black Joker dam who worked into her teens at M&R.

City View Deluxe is named very appropriately. He is the deluxe model when it comes to a herd bull. You’ll be hard pressed to find a longer bodied, smoother made, higher performing, calf crop improver than you will in lot 30. Almost an April calf, he was a little too young to be included in last year’s offering so we are very excited to offer this virgin two year old now. The Broker progeny have been very well received in our offering the past several years and for good reason. They are absolute weight gaining fools! Tons of grow and jam for use on mature cows, Deluxe is a great choice if you’ve got a little more ground to cover than a yearling can manage. He is out of a stretchy made, heavy milking, red Crosby daughter.

The only son of the widely used Identity, Everest comes out of a Broker daughter from the Boss Lady cow family. His dam is another of our young cows who is quickly proving herself in our program. Everest provides very moderate birth weight, adequate performance and a strip of white down his face. A minus 34 wind chill made him a little uncooperative picture day but we are sure you'll notice him sale day and like what you find!
Enforcer is arguable the longest sided bull in the lot yet also provides a very stout hip, smooth build and tidy front. Take a look at the above average and very balanced EPD profile. His pedigree combines the sheer power of Broker with the calving ease and maternal prowess provided by Jet Run.

A couple years ago, one of the exciting black bulls we sold was purchased by our dear friends at Sunnyside Simmentals. Asteroid matured into an impressive bull and we were excited to get a couple cows from ‘Uncle Tom’ that were carrying his service. Lot 34 combines three of Tom and Sharon’s herdbulls in Asteroid, Tanker and Riot. We feel Emission provides a great deal of consistency with generations of tried and tested genetics complete with that money strip and big performance.
Equalizer is a 3/4 blood brother to lot 34 and is very similar in type and design, in red but still with that characteristic blaze face built in from Asteroid. This pair of bulls are not extreme in any way but do a lot of things right. Equalizer’s two year old dam did a great job in her first attempt and looks to have a bright future ahead of her.
Equity is another bull who came in dam from ‘Uncle Tom’. He is extremely sleek in his type and has a really polished look about him. We are sure his daughters will be a great strength. When you get in behind Equity, you find him to be far stouter than you originally thought. He also provides a great EPD tabulation.

We purchased the dam of 2E from Erixon Simmentals as an open heifer. She is a solid red LFE Red Casino daughter. This black, blazed face bull is her first calf sired by City View Asteroid 333A. Like his sire, this bull is structurally correct, square and well balanced.
This solid black bull is long and deep bodied with a great hair coat and disposition. He is sired by Erixon Lad 21C and backed by a proven, dependable maternal pedigree. His dam, 31B, is a black blaze face young cow that traces back to the Lazy Bar B Haley 3N cow family which has had a tremendous influence on our program. Our herd is small so we require our cows to produce consistent quality and this cow family has lived up to that expectation every year.
141E is a solid black bull with ton of length and thickness. His dam 141A is a solid black daughter of TNT Tanker with rib shape, depth and eye appeal. We are proud to have raised a cow of this quality. She has a great udder and lots of milk and also has a great disposition. Sandy Bar Ideal 185W 216Y has sired five yearling bulls and five heifers for this year's sale. The sons of Ideal exhibit the same real beef bull presence with Angus characteristics, mass and volume. Sandy Bar Ideal 185W 216Y stamps his calves with his great length and solid foot. One of his greatest strengths is his pen of replacement heifers.
Our grandsons Ross Toner and Will Reider are both building their Angus cowherds and have been doing very well in 4-H.

Ivanhoe Angus is so pleased to offer two excellent sons of our Crescent Creek Rito 139C herdsire. These sons are high performing with excellent growth. Like their sire, these bulls exhibit muscle and strong Angus characteristics. Thanks to a wonderful friend, Rob Holowaychuk, whose keen eye and Angus knowledge played a huge role in another Crescent Creek herdsire for the Ivanhoe program.
Welcome! Abound Livestock may be a new name to the cattle business but we are by no means new to cattle. Most of you know I have been a part of City View Simmentals since day one. Lisa was raised on a mixed farm with a Hereford based cowherd. Lisa and I will continue to be involved in the Simmental program for years to come however we are excited about our new Angus venture.
We have been asked many times, “How did you come with that name?” When you drive into our yard, you will see the former CPR stop called Abound. The rail line was built from 1924-1931 as a part of the Shamrock Sub. Abound consisted of a portable station, post office and a base for the track maintenance crews. The CPR abandoned the line in December of 1989 and the rails were pulled in 1990.
Abound Livestock began in the fall of 2016 when we were given the opportunity to purchase a select group of Angus cows from Ron & Marilyn at Ivanhoe Angus. We felt there was no way we could pass up the chance to start with a proven, hard working cowherd. We know it was a difficult decision for Mountenay’s but we are extremely grateful and hope to build on this great cow base moving forward.
When it comes to the cattle, the same rules apply at Abound as at Ivanhoe. Structure and function are key to us. If we wouldn’t use a bull ourselves, we won’t sell it! Plain and simple, these cattle have to work! We have developed the bulls in a way to keep them ‘hard’ adding customer value so they will last and not fall apart when real world conditions are the reality. Due of the young age of the bulls, they will be vet inspected prior to the sale and semen tested once they are mature enough. They are of course welcome to come back to the farm until that time.
We would like to thank you in advance for your interest in our bulls and hope to see you sale day. We look forward to the future and working with you in your search for high quality Angus bulls! If you would like to tour the bulls or the cows beforehand, we welcome you to be our guest!

This bull is Brain’s pick of the pen. He has a touch of added frame, excellent structure, and overall mass and balance making this bull a standout. Not to mention that he is as sure footed and hairy as the come! His mother, 18Z, is a hard working cow who quietly goes about her business and gets the job done!

701E has been an exciting and impressive bull to watch grow and develop. We started our calving season last year with a set of twin bull calves. We had the misfortune of losing this guy’s brother but for 701E he was quite content to not have to share the milk! From the moment this little 57 lb calf hit the ground he has done nothing but grow. Today, he will catch your eye in the bull pen with his muscle shape and overall mass. He is a very well balanced bull that carries himself with a great deal of pride!

As we entered our first year in the Angus business, we must admit that we were a little hesitant of these Ambush calves at birth. However, we soon learned that they are a lot like chia pets…just add water and watch them grow! The Ambush bull calves are more calving ease orientated than other sire groups and would work well in the heifer pen. 709E is packed with maternal strengths going back to the Merit 2102 bull and the Herione A cow family. Merit 2102 left some very sound, tremendous females in the Ivanhoe herd.
This bull is out of our 27B cow who is an excellent Emblazon daughter who is quickly becoming a top notch female. 716E is a super shaggy, stout calf that we have no doubt will have a great future. With just a 77 pound actual birthweight, a below average birthweight EPD and above average calving ease EPD, 716E is an ideal candidate for the heifer pen.
723E has a little later birthdate but as each day goes by he is proving that he can keep up with his older counterparts. One of the 3 great Ambush bulls to sell, these brothers are very consistent in their make up and style. Lots of hair, a great disposition and an added bonus of calving ease benefits.

This bull likely has the cleanest nose in all of Saskatchewan. Lexi, our partner in crime, and 719E are the best of friends. Dual nose licking sessions are a daily occurrence. Like all of our bulls, he has a great disposition. 719E is a heavy muscled bull with excellent foot quality and high maternal value from the surefire Blackbird cow family.
From a young age, 715E has expressed true herd bull characteristics and displays himself in a way to always make his presence known. For that reason, we nicknamed him Ego. Ego had our highest weaning weight at 739 lbs and he is off a young mother cow who is proving she could be a cornerstone female in the Abound herd. In order to live up to his nickname, Ego had other thoughts in mind on picturing day so this picture maybe isn’t the best of him but you will not be able to walk away from the bull pen without appreciating what this bull has to offer.

Calving Ease (CE) - The ease with which a bull’s calves are born to first calf heifers. The larger EPD indicates a higher percentage of unassisted births for calves sired by that bull.
Birth Weight (BW) - Calf weight at birth adjusted to the dam’s age. The larger EPD indicates a heavier average birth weight.
Weaning Weight (WW) - Weight taken between 160 and 250 days of age and adjusted to 205 days of age and to the dam’s age. The larger EPD indicates a heavier average weaning weight for calves sired by that bull.
Yearling Weight (YW) - Weight taken between 330 and 440 days of age and adjusted to 365 days of age and to the dam’s age. The larger EPD indicates a heavier average yearling weight for calves sired by that bull.
Maternal Calving Ease (MCE) - The ease a bull’s daughters calve as first calf heifers. The larger EPD indicates a higher percentage of unassisted births for calves born to the sire’s daughters.
Milk - The milk EPD is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk as expressed in his daughters production, or in other words, the part of weaning weight attributed to milk genes. The larger EPD indicates heavier average weaning weights due to daughter’s greater maternal ability.
Total Maternal (TM) - A bull’s ability to pass on milk production and growth rate through his daughters. It predicts the total weaning (direct and maternal) that will be displayed in his daughter’s offspring. It is calculated by adding half of the Weaning Weight EPD with the Milk EPD. The larger EPD indicates higher pounds at weaning.
