GENERAL MANAGERSDESKWelcome to the festive season and our final edition for 2014 of the City Scene. We trust that the year has been kind to you! We are approaching a very special time of the year when we cancelebrate with our friends and our families.

As usual we have put together a range of events and entertainment to suit everybody this festive season. Throughout this magazine you will find many occasions to celebrate; whether it is one of our parties like NYE or Australia Day, our upcoming events, participating in one of our many Raffles or just coming to the Club and enjoying the wonderful food and beverages we have to offer, served by one of our friendly staff.

Our chefs have been working hard to deliver, under the leadership of our extraordinary Executive Chef Ryan McBurney, a new range of menus and nightly specials just in time for the festive season. With the party season starting with the warmer months, make sure you give Kelly Cassidy, our Events Manager a call if you want to celebrate in style! Kelly has also organised our biggest Wedding Expo yet for February 22, 2015; make sure you drop by for some fresh and innovative wedding ideas. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Kyla White, our new Restaurant and Cafe Manager, to the City Golf Club team.

With many exciting developments underway, the Club has worked hard with Ergon Energy in an effort to remove all power poles on the golf course, with the power being placed underground in the upcoming months. We are also proud to once again play host to the QLD PGA Championship in February, with a week of events for our members, and visitors that will be attracted to the region for this prestigious event. With over $120,000 in prizes, this event will draw many well known professional golfers to the region for an exciting competition.

On behalf of the Board of Management, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season to all our members, their guests and visitors and a prosperous and happy New Year and hope see you once again in our Club very soon.

Well what a busy year it has been for the City Golf Club golfing Calendar. The Club has held many major events in 2014 including the Golf QLD Womens Country week, U19 National School Sport Championships and the Meg Nunn Ladies State Matchplay Championships. Some of the new events on the members calendar in 2014 were so successful they will also be continuing in 2015!

December will be a busy period on the course as many golfers will enjoy a social game during the festive season and soaking up the great summer weather. This month our new 7th green will come into play which will see a new aspect and challenge to how the 7th hole will be played and also a majority of the works on the underground power line infrastructure should be almost complete.

All these minor hindrances over the last few months will see great long term benefits for the members and golf course alike. As most would be aware the 2015 Coca-Cola QLD PGA is almost upon us and we look forward to what will be another exciting tournament week full of activities and events.

I wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and new year and watch this space for more exciting info in 2015.
