Teachtaireacht Bhainisteoir na Cathrach message from the City Manager.

    I am calling on communities,

    individuals, schools and

    businesses across the city to

become involved in this yearsDublin City Neighbourhood

    Awards. The competition places

    a big emphasis on Community

    Effort which covers initiatives in

    communications, organising of

events, clean-ups etc. in the local

    area throughout the year.

We have all seen the results of the enormous efforts made by

the citizens of Dublin to improve the local environment. More

people want to become involved in their neighbourhoods so

this is your opportunity to help make a difference. Your local

Council Area Office can provide equipment such as bags,

gloves etc. to help with clean ups.

Despite the reduction in financial resources and staff numbers

in Dublin City Council it is important to acknowledge the

positive work that is done by the Council in this area. This

includes the City Neighbourhoods Awards for those who help

    keep our city clean.

Through the schools, we encourage young people to enterthe competition. The schools competition is a separate

competition with judging taking place in September.

The Dublin City Neighbourhoods Awards is about

acknowledging in a meaningful way the selfless work done for

our city by people in communities, businesses and schools.

It is about people from all across society working together we

help create a better environment to live, learn and work in.

I congratulate all the communities and groups who

participated in the 2013 Competition. I wish all entrants in this

years competition every success and thank them for their

    participation.
