Cisco VCS to Unified Communications License Migration Program

Program Details

Description The Cisco VCS to Unified Communications License Migration Program allows customers to migrate their existing video endpoints from Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) to either:

1) Cisco Unified Communications Manager (also known as UC Manager or UCM) - providing a rich Unified

Communications feature set, such as session management, voice, video, messaging, and mobility. or

2) Cisco Expressway Series – providing a video-centric call control and firewall traversal solution, as a

standalone deployment, that supports registration of both Cisco and 3rd party endpoints.

This program may be used by customers wishing to deploy both UC Manager and Expressway together, as well as in cases where UC Manager is the primary call control component, but where Expressway is required to provide call control support for 3rd party endpoints.

Eligibility

Available for direct customers or Cisco partner purchase - ordered through Cisco Commerce Workspace.

Dates Available This program has been extended through July 27th 2019 (FY19)

Product Eligibility Customers currently using Cisco TelePresence VCS for video endpoint registration and call control can migrate their endpoints and register them to either Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 10.X, 11.X, or to Expressway X8.9 or later for a $0 license fee. This includes Cisco desktop, multipurpose, and immersive endpoints, as well as video software client licenses. The endpoints must currently be registered to the customer’s Cisco TelePresence VCS to be eligible. An existing, active service contract in not required to leverage this migration program. The Cisco TelePresence Endpoints that are compatible with UC Manager and can be migrated under this program, include:

Cisco TelePresence EX Series

Cisco TelePresence C Series

Cisco TelePresence MX Series

Cisco TelePresence SX Series

Cisco IP Video Phone E20

Jabber Video for TelePresence1 (formerly known as Cisco TelePresence Movi)

With older Cisco endpoints, not compatible with UC Manager, this program may be leveraged when refreshing to new Cisco endpoints, or by registering them to Cisco Expressway after license migration.

1 Jabber Video for TelePresence clients must migrate to the Cisco Jabber Unified Communications (UC) client

Third party endpoints are also eligible for license migration when they are to be deployed onto Cisco Expressway only and not on UC Manager. All 3rd party endpoints are treated as room systems, regardless of them being desktop or room systems.

Customers may also migrate their VCS-E Traversal session licenses and Microsoft Interoperability key to Cisco Expressway Series as long as they commit to removing VCS-E from their production environment within 6 months of ordering the migration SKUs. Only the VCS-E traversal session licenses can be migrated to Expressway (in the form of Rich Media Sessions). Traversal Call licenses included with a VCS-C purchase are not eligible for migration.

* Jabber Video for TelePresence/Movi client licenses (in TMS with LIC-TMS-PE-xx or LIC-MOVI-xx) are a concurrent use license based model. Some customers may oversubscribe the number of licenses. UCL and CUWL licenses are user based. For this reason up to 3 UCL Enhanced or Enhanced Plus licenses may be ordered for every Movi client license in TMS. Note that SWSS is added for every UCL license ordered.

As part of the ordering process in CCW you will be selecting the types and quantities of licenses, the Software Version you are requesting, s/w coming from, and choosing the SWSS duration. Please see the following screen-shot examples.

Up-leveling licenses from UCL to CUWL Migrating endpoints from Cisco VCS to Cisco Unified Communications Licensing also qualifies customers for the ‘Collaborate Everywhere’ promotion. If customers desire to up-level to CUWL Standard or CUWL Meetings, they may take advantage of the discounts under the ‘Collaborate Everywhere’ program.

Benefits of up-leveling

CUWL Standard offers enhanced feature capabilities for customers migrating user licenses to be hosted on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, with unified messaging (voicemail) provided by Cisco Unity Connection, and the capability for the user to have multiple associated devices. For Expressway only migrations, Up-leveling CUWL Standard is not recommended due to the absence of these features.

CUWL Meetings offers benefits for both Cisco Unified Communications manager based deployments, and for Expressway only deployments, with the inclusion of entitlement to Personal Multiparty Plus (including Cisco Meeting Server).

See the screenshots below to see how to build the configuration for up-leveling to CUWL. The deal must be registered under the ‘Collaborate Everywhere' promotion to receive the promotional discounts. Up-leveling to CUWL for BE6000 Use the R-CBE6K-K9 top-level, and choose software version and current product as shown in the previous section.

Fill in appropriate quantities under ‘License Feature Upgrade’ Options. Choose BE6K-UWL-CM2BE to uplevel users to CUWL Standard

Jabber Video for TelePresence or Movi client license2

(Licenses on TMS include LIC-TMS-PE-xx or LIC-MOVI-xx)

Jabber UC client1

and

MIG-VCS-UCM-ENH (for 1 client/user)

or

MIG-VCS-UCM-ENHP (for 2 clients/user)

1To order Jabber UC client license, under R-UCL-UCM-UPG-K9, order one of the following under Jabber and Client Options:

JABBER-DESKTOP Jabber for Desktop for PC and Mac

JAB-IPH-CLNT-UCM Jabber for iPhone UCM Only

JAB-ADR-CLNT-UCM Jabber for Android UCM Only

JABBER-TABLET Jabber for iPad and Android Tablet

2 Jabber Video for TelePresence/Movi client licenses (in TMS with LIC-TMS-PE-xx or LIC-MOVI-xx) are a concurrent use license based model. Some customers may oversubscribe the number of licenses. UCL and CUWL licenses are user based. For this reason up to 3 UCL Enhanced or Enhanced Plus licenses may be ordered for every Movi client license in TMS. Note that SWSS is added for every UCL license ordered.

Limitations and Exclusions

Only migrations to Enhanced, Enhanced Plus, or TelePresence Room – User Connect License (UCL) licenses are available at no cost.

Customers must purchase service and support (SWSS) for each corresponding migration license, however an existing, active service contract in not required to leverage the migration SKUs.

Whilst licenses for both UCM and Expressway are supplied in the migration, customers are required to select which will be used for their call control, and use only those licenses.

The license migration for third party or H.323 endpoints to UC Manager is not supported but can be migrated to Cisco Expressway (as room systems).

All third party endpoints are treated as room systems registered to Cisco Expressway, regardless of them being desktop or room systems.

The Jabber Video for TelePresence client (previously Cisco TelePresence Movi) is not supported on UC Manager and would need to be migrated from VCS by changing to the Cisco Jabber UC client.

Note: Starting with Expressway version X8.8, RMS Licenses need only to be deployed on Expressway E servers. Before X.8.8 there were 2 RMS for each Traversal license being replaced, now there is only 1 RMS license per Traversal license.

Selecting existing Microsoft license

Limitations and Exclusions

Customers must purchase service and support (SWSS) for each corresponding migration license, however an existing, active service contract in not required to leverage the migration SKUs.

Traversal licenses included with a VCS-C purchase are not eligible for migration. This includes the 5 free bundled licenses that were previously included with the BE6K. Note: Traversal licenses on a VCS-C have the p/n LIC-VCSE-5 or LIC-VCSE-100, as in VCS-E, but these are not eligible.

Non-traversal session licenses are not eligible for migration.

VCS-E must be removed from production within 6 months of ordering traversal migration licenses.

An existing VCS (appliance or VM) can be converted to an Cisco Expressway Series, with the exception of Gen 1 VCS hardware. If the existing VCS is on Gen 1 hardware migrated licenses must be installed on a new/existing Expressway Series, hardware or virtual. A way to determine the existing hardware is through the VCS application serial number. If it starts with 52A or 52B then it is not supported and would require a hardware or virtual migration. Compatible hardware include CE500/1000/1100.
