Call Flow

Introduction

This document illustrates how to configure Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) to allow room

systems that register to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to connect to a

BlueJeans conference.

Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) is a session border controller, providing voice and video

connectivity from the enterprise IP network to service provider SIP trunks. CUBE also offers

services that extend collaboration beyond the firewall to teleworkers and business partners and

help organizations to more easily connect to hosted collaboration services providers.

Architecture

The diagram below captures the overall setup and call flow. The enterprise architecture consists of

the appropriate components based on the Cisco Video deployment guides. In this case, room

systems would register to the CUCM as sip end points and the CUCM would have a SIP trunk for

external video calls to the CUBE. The CUBE is usually deployed in the DMZ as the video edge

device for calls in or out of the enterprise.

Requirements

Customer has the following software versions for the mandatory components:

- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 9.1.2 or later

- Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) version 15.4(2)T1 or later (to support URI dialing).

Configuration

The following steps cover the required one time setup for the CUCM (Cisco Unified Call

Manager) and CUBE (Cisco Unified Border Element).

1. Configure a new SIP Trunk Profile by going to Device > Device Settings > SIP Profiles and

add new profile with values show in Figure 2 (below).

2. Leave all other parameters as default.

Note: If there is already a SIP Profile setup please ensure the configuration matches the below.

Early Offer support is required and you should allow for BFCP for content sharing.

3. Go to the CUCM Administration web interface, click on Device > Trunk and click Add New

4. All other parameters can be set to the default values.

5. Add a route pattern to route the Blue Jeans number from room systems to the CUBE via the SIP

trunk from CUCM. Go to Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Route Pattern and click Add New

6. Configure the CUBE dial peers to route calls to BlueJeans (Outbound Dial peer). Make sure

audio codec is set to G722 and session transport is set to TCP.

Sample:

!

dial-peer voice 100 voip

description Outbound to Bluejeans

destination-pattern 9412567975

session protocol sipv2

session target dns:sip.bjn.vc

session transport tcp

7. Configure the CUBE dial Inbound Dial peer from route calls to BlueJeans. Make sure audio

codec is also set to G722 (may have to add this codec to your configuration).

Sample:

!

dial-peer voice 101 voip

May have to add these preferences to your inbound dial peer configuration:

voice class codec 1

codec preference 1 g711ulaw

codec preference 2 g722-64

codec preference 3 g711alaw

Joining Meetings
