In order to assure reliable battery charge control under such conditions, Phocos developed a completely sealed (IP65) charge controller to prevent corrosion: CIS. CIS is an industrial-grade charge controller that can also be used in conventional PV applications. It excels when the system operates under harsh environmental conditions. In addition to high-quality, 3-stage PWM-charging, the controller is also equipped with low-voltage disconnect for deep-discharge protection (optional dual-load for a 2nd load output), flexible load timer functions and a multi-LED status display. In addition, the CIS offers an integrated infrared interface feature. This interface enables all settings (battery type, deep discharge threshold, timer function, etc.) to be adjusted quickly and easily via remote control. All devices are connected to the contoller by supplied lead wires rather than standard screw terminals. This feature eliminates corrosion where all components make electrical contact to the controller. The extremely compact aluminium housing even allows for mounting CIS inside street light poles. CIS was developed in accordance with well-established Phocos standards incorporating the latest technology, highest-quality and best possible cost/performance ratio.
