Production Contract

Please realize that by signing this contract you are making a commitment to follow ALL rules outlined herein. This agreement is to ensure that all actors and crew members are treated fairly as collaborative artists who are working towards the same goal. I will enforce this agreement to the best of my ability, but be aware that special circumstances not covered here will be addressed on a case by case basis.

I, __________________________, as a member of the company of Cinderella Waltz, understand that I should listen to and follow all instructions given to me by the director and stage manager(s). Since my conduct reflects on the company as a whole and on the Theatre Arts Department of Smithville High School, I shall at all times exhibit attitudes and behaviors which will not jeopardize the position of either. Because we work together so closely, I will exhibit proper conduct at all times. I will not use inappropriate language. At no time will I make a comment or a joke at the expense of another cast member. I understand that doing so can result in immediate dismissal from the show. I understand that talking while others are working onstage, or especially while the director is speaking, is disrespectful and will not be tolerated. I accept that repeated instances of talking over the director may result in my demotion to understudy. Because of the interdependence of cast and crew, I understand that I am to be on stage, with a pencil and my script, ready to work at my designated rehearsal time. I understand that after something is taught, I am expected to have it memorized for the next rehearsal. I understand that I am expected to keep props, set pieces, and costumes in working order. If repairs are needed, I will notify the director immediately. I know that students, aside from understudies, should not wear other students’ costumes. If props or costumes are damaged or lost while in in my possession, I understand that I will be responsible for the replacement cost. I understand that actors must not alter their appearance in any way (including haircuts, hair coloring or highlighting, piercings, tattoos, etc.) without getting approval from the director first. Student Signature: ____________________________________ Date: _____________

As mother/father/legal guardian of the aforementioned student, I give my permission for my child to participate in the production of Cinderella Waltz. I am aware of the requirements outlined above. I agree to allow my child’s name and phone number to be added to the cast and crew contact list. I understand that accessibility to my student by phone allows for the smoothest relay of changes to the schedule or other important memos, and provides a method of contact for unscheduled tardies or absences. Further, I understand that this contact sheet will be distributed to all of the performers and crew members. I authorize the recording, video filming, and/or photographing of my child. Further, I agree to the use of my child’s name, likeness and achievement(s) for educational and other bona fide related, non-profit purposes, including marketing and promoting the Smithville ISD Public Schools and the Smithville High School Theatre Department, and consent to the display of such to any persons. I authorize the use of any such recording, video film, and/or photographs, and/or any other such information in all media in perpetuity and without claim to compensation. I agree to release and hold harmless the Smithville High School Theatre Department and the Smithville ISD Public Schools for the use of any such material. Cinderella Waltz - Audition Pieces

Rosey Snow : Smart, resourceful, humorous, pretty, optimistic, graceful; NOT a Disney princess. I think I’ve stumbled into a fairy tale. First the extraordinary opportunity, then the sudden obstacle. I read all about it in the encyclopedia. What should I do? ( She goes over to the well and lays the petunias down by it. ) Oh, Mother, why are you dead? You’re always dead when I need you.

Mrs. Snow : Rosey's stepmother; physically demanding role; strong willed and selfish Shut up, Regan. A dress won’t help her if she has no ticket. And a ticket won’t help her if she has no dress. And neither one will help her if she can’t dance. Let’s go girls. Rosey, wash the windows, wash the cat, wash the chickens, wash, wash, WASH!

Goneril : Rosey's stepsister; bad temper; pretty in a pouty sort of way; life has disappointed her. Can’t you see, those rich people are going to laugh at us? Look at these dresses, and this awful makeup, and our hair. Nothing good is ever going to happen to us. We’re doomed. DOOOOOMED.

Regan : Rosey's stepsister; her lights are on but nobody's home. REGAN. And the music and the dancing and the ducks --

GONERIL. Swans.

REGAN. And the swans and the violins and the footmen and the Prince was so handsome and I never imagined anything could be so CLEAN. Oh, it was so NICE, And everybody was so pretty and that one girl that came late and left early and smelled like pumpkin pie. She looked a little like Rosey.

Mother Magee : A tippling, bawdy, fairy godmother; physical agility & no sense of dignity are a plus.

MOTHER MAGEE. ( from the well. ) YOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO. OHO. GIMME A HAND,

DEARIE, I’M DOWN THE FRIGGING WELL. Urgh. Arb. Lek. Ooooo. There. Oops. ( She lands on her head

and collapses in a heap outside the well, revealing garishly flowered bloomers. ) I’m Mother Magee. I’m a fairy

godmother. Yours.

ROSEY. Really? You?

MOTHER MAGEE. Who’d you expect? Tinker Bell?

Mr. Snow : Rosey's father; he can't find his trousers.

MR. SNOW. (Emerging from the house) I’ve lost my pants. (Noticing Rosey) You didn’t want to go to that ball,

did you? Won’t find nothin’ special at no ball. Cuddle a quilt in a rocker, look at the fire and listen to the clock

burp. That’s what I call fun. Well, whatever. ( He goes into the house.)

Prince Alfred : A Sondheim prince: charming but not sincere; handsome, athletic, not devoid of self-awareness.

The King got this idea that I ought to get married. I wasn’t keen on the idea myself, if you want to know the

truth -- Pay attention, Troll. So, mother got this idea for a great awful BALL, you see. Clever woman, bit of a

squint she’s got, but clever. She thought we might invite all the eligible MAIDEN types and a few wench types

from the countryside for variety, and, this is an awfully long story, isn’t is? What point was a I trying to make,

Troll?

Troll : He is a petty civil servant, a Sancho Panza; a thoroughly decent person, therefore sometimes ridiculous.

I’m retained by Prince Alfred. Of Fafrid. I’ve been touring the countryside hither and yon, delivering

invitations to the big ball. I was looking at the sky and humming, and I fell down your well.

Zed : The Village idiot; secretly a maker of small beautiful things; bitter and cynical, as so often happens. ZED. Ddddddazzzzzz. Ddddazzzzzzz. ( He makes little hopeful awkward circles with his hand.) Ddddans?

ROSEY. Dance?

ZED. Ya. Ya. You. Ta dans. Yes?

ROSEY. I don’t understand.

ZED. ( having a frustration fit. ) URG. STUPID DORTY RATTEN RASELFRATSA.

DDDDDAAANNNNNNNSSSS. ( Trying very hard to control himself and enunciate.)

TeeeeeeeeccchhhhhhOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Teeech. Yoooooo. Tadanz.
