Taylor Olsson CI 350 Assure method Assignment 1 1-Teaching the months of the year to a 1stgrade class, Special ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white 20% African-American and 10% Hispanic.7 students in the class have mild to severe ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
The audience would be the first grade special ed. students, 10 boys, and 7
girls, a total of 17 students. 70% of my class is white, 20% African-American and
10% Hispanic. 7 of the students 4 boys and 3 girls, have mild to severe ADHD so as
the teacher I would have to modify my lesson plans of what I am teaching, in this
case the months of the year for this particular classroom.
The objective for my class would be, they will recite the months of the year in
sequential order and also categorize them into the four seasons within a week time
period with 90% accuracy.
As the teacher I would use visual PowerPoint’s and songs that go along with
the months of the year for the auditory learners. But other kids are more hands on
and for them I would use games where they would have to separate the months of
the year nametags into the 4 seasons, this way they would also be reading and
recognizing the word. The students will listen to songs and have long strips of paper
with each name of the month on them and have to line them up in the correct order
as a game, they will be timed to see who can do it the fastest. At the end of two
weeks the students will put the months of the year in sequential order and
categorize the months of the year into the 4 seasons with 100% accuracy.
