The Churchill Navigation ION is an NVIS Class A & B compatible, DO-160 Qualified, 1.875” tall DZUS rail mounted open architecture FMV-oriented mission computer. With two channels of HD-SDI digital video input along with one channel of analog video (RS-170, S-Video, or Component) and HD-SDI output, as well as multiple ports for recording video to USB thumb drives or SD cards, plus a large compliment of serial, ethernet, GPIO, ARINC 429, USB, and audio ports, the ION is capable of solving a wide variety of problems.

A flexible flowgraph-oriented configuration, along with a large assortment of pre-programmed modules (and the ability to develop your own) coupled with an easy-to-use modern graphical user interface means the ION is ready to solve any video-related challenge you may have.

Converts legacy analog gimbals to HD-SDI with embedded KLV metadata in the VANC.

Sends elevation data to Wescam, FLIR, and other gimbals using RCS, Serial Type A, etc.

Simultaneously records 3 channels of video to separate (or a single) recording media.

Transcodes MISB/STANAG-4609 video streams into different codecs/bitrates.

Embeds GMTI radar data, AIS, ADS-B, etc. into Transport Streams.

Generates Reaper/Predator/Grey Eagle/Shadow/Scan Eagle/etc. symbology overlays on clean video signals for gimbal use in UAV surrogate applications.

Auto-records hoist camera when turned on, auto-record gimbal when skids-off, etc.

Generates PIP views, Moving maps, Custom overlays/watermarks, masking symbology, etc.

Adds “slew to cue” capability to any gimbal, interfacing gimbals to Mesh Networks, CDL radios, etc.

Adds remote control capability to a gimbal.

Exports sensor POI data in shapefile, KLV, or other formats.

Records additional channels of video by daisy-chaining Ethernet.

Remotely control frequency, encryption keys, and receive site location for video downlinks.

Views video from any channel, as well as gimbal orientation, on a tablet computer using built-in WIFI.
