This year’s Christmas

pageant, “From

Darkness to the Light

of the World”, will take

place on Sunday,

December 11 at 10:00

AM in the sanctuary.

There will be two

rehearsals, December 4 from 12:15-1:30 PM (right after second service) and on

December 10 from 10:00 AM-Noon with dress rehearsal. There are speaking,

acting, and behind-the-scenes parts available. Please see Roger Gill or Jeannine

Page-Tear if you are interested in participating or if you have any questions.

It’s Christmas Pageant Time!

Come one, Come All

Gather your family and friends to share in one of our Christmas Eve

Worship experiences this year. It is certainly a very special time to join

together and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We will offer two

services on Saturday, December 24—an early service at 5:00 PM and a

later one at 7:00 PM.

Both services will include carols and candlelight. The Songsters Choir will sing at

the 5:00 PM service and the Chancel Choir will offer two special pieces at the

7:00 PM service. If you and your loved ones enjoy taking the sacrament of

communion together on Christmas Eve, you will want to attend the 7:00 PM

service.

We hope to share this time with you and also our Christmas Day Sunday

Worship Celebration on December 25 at 10:00 AM.

This year we will be having a Mission Tree for Haiti. Haiti is in great need of common everyday first aid and living supplies. The tree will remain up through January hung with cards identifying the different items they need. The donated

items can be placed back under the tree in the bins.

Gifting Tree For Haiti Mission

We’ve Seen Your Picture We have received the proof book, reviewed it and mailed it back. If everything goes well, we should have our directories by the middle of

December.

The Mitten Tree will reach out its branches to receive hats and mittens for Baldwin Center, Outreach East and Carriage Town Ministries.

Carriage Town would like matching hat and mittens, toddler to 12 year old for Christmas Boxes.

All ages would like warm hands and heads.

All Christians have a personal story of how Christ transformed them personally. Some stories are very dramatic, while others are much milder. Although our testimonies may be different, they should not be stories about how we first met Christ, but more of how we became engaged with Him. There are many people who attend church but are not saved. These people encounter God every week, and yet they never really engage with God. Apostle Peter gives an example of this in 2 Peter 2:15, referring to Balaam, whose story is found in Numbers 22. He was hired by the king of Moab to curse Israel. Balaam had a gift that he could pronounce blessings or curses on people, and it would actually happen. He even encountered the living God! Despite all Balaam had seen and experienced, he loved the world. Even after he just barely escaped death, thanks to his donkey,

Wrapping Party: Come join a Methodist Women sponsored hymn sing, story and fellowship Friday, December 9 at 7:00 PM. We will take song requests from our hymnal and praise God for the greatest gift of all, Jesus, Emmanuel. We will also be wrapping the gifts from our thank offering and labeling their contents for the men at Cass Avenue. All ages are welcome to share in this time. Our snacks will include a veggie tray for those with a sugar restriction.

The gift wrapping will continue Monday, December 12 after Ugly Quilts, starting with prayer and soup. The gifts will be delivered that week.

MYF Christmas Party: The MYF Annual Christmas Party will be on December 11 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the home of Jeff and Madonna Bennett. Their address is 8198 Manchester Dr. Grand Blanc, MI 48439. This year, we will have a contest for the ugliest pair of Christmas socks. There will also be a white elephant gift exchange, gift price up to $10.00. Be careful when choosing your gift, you may get it back!! Hope to see everyone there.

New Year’s Eve Party: Our annual New Year’ Eve Euchre/Bingo Party plans are under way. This year we will be gathering at 7:00 PM. There will be a sign-up sheet on the back bulletin board if anyone is interested in joining us for a night of fun. We are asking people to bring finger foods and a white elephant gift for Bingo. Mark your calendar now for an evening of fellowship. Watch the announcements for more details. If you have any questions, please contact Arnie Braun or Donna Eddy.

Balaam did not change his heart. God did not allow him to curse Israel, but Balaam introduced sexual sins into their camp, and so brought them into wrath before God. (Num. 25:1-3, 31:15-16) Thomas Shaw B. writes “The pig, though washed, was a pig still. The outward washing could not change the inward propensity of the animal… The hearts of such people were never renewed, their natures were never changed.” Reading the Bible, just coming to church, even becoming a pastor do not qualify one as a Christian. Although God is encountered at every step, He is not necessarily engaged. Let us not engage in merely religion or emotional highs; these do not sufficiently change us. We can only be changed by engaging relationally with God. In Christ’s Love,

Encountering God vs. Engaging God

Such Incredible Joy Thank you to everyone who participated in the head shaving in support of Ivan’s journey. We had 18 people shave their heads upholding Ivan, with each person

having their own personal inspiration for doing so. Thank you so much to our volunteer hairstylists, Susie Koon and Patty Stamper. Also, thank you to anyone who donated meals, gift cards or a joy offering to lend a helping hand to the Denshams as they have walked this walk.

Every time we stretch our hearts even the tiniest bit on behalf of someone else - in that very moment...we are Christ in action. God is good. We are blessed to have a wonderful and supportive congregation.
