These might include the need for peaceful resolutions in the Middle East, healing of hearts as we think of the 215 bodies of children, and the scars they have left on all involved with the residential school systems, or we might pray for those still in fear of corona pandemic conditions. And we offer special prayers this week for those in our community taking part in any virtual recognition of Pride week. We pray inclusiveness, acceptance and love for all who gather here. Help us to live out our church motto: “God loves ALL. So do we.” Be with those who struggle with any kind of illness or in treatment or who are recovering from surgeries... These might include Pam Bridgman or Patricia Connolly or name those who you know who need healing and guidance. We thank you Lord for answers to our prayers. Together our prayers do make a difference, in our church, in our neighbourhoods and in the world. Celebrate Life - Sunday, June 20th! We are planning to have an outdoor service as long as the Province moves into phase 1 of reopening by that date as is expected. Celebrate Life will meet in the East Parking Lot of the church. Let’s start off with praise and thanksgiving this week.

Name 3 people you are thankful for...

Then name 3 things that God has done for you...

These might include care givers, nurses, doctors, clinic volunteers, bus drivers, teachers, student jobs, ministers, cooks, prayer teams, job opportunites…. and more...

We thank you Lord for all of these people that you have used to bring hope into our lives and situations. Thank you for the answers to prayer that you bring through them.

And now we think of things we are concerned about.

Name 3 things or situations in our world where your presence and healing is needed...

And we offer special prayers this week for those in our community taking part in any virtual recognition of Pride week. We pray inclusiveness, acceptance and love for all who gather here. Help us to live out our church motto: “God loves ALL. So do we.”

Be with those who struggle with any kind of illness or in treatment or who are recovering from surgeries... These might include Pam Bridgman or Patricia Connolly or name those who you know who need healing and guidance.

We thank you Lord for answers to our prayers. May our eyes be open to see you at work on our behalf, and may you use us as your agents of positive change.

Together our prayers do make a difference, in our church, in our neighbourhoods and in the world.

This Pentecost season, The Canadian Council of Churches and its ecumenical partners, The Canadian Centre for Ecumenism and The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism, invite you to a special Christian unity event: Abide in My Love: Cross-Canada Online Celebration of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity— Saturday, June 5, 3:00 – 4:00 pm EDT Gathering as branches of Christ the True Vine, let

us experience, and bear witness to, God’s abiding love during this season of Pentecost! For over 100 years, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU) has gathered Christians around the world in ecumenical prayer and fellowship. The season of Pentecost is a traditional time for celebrating WPCU globally, and we warmly invite you to this special opportunity for Christians across Canada to gather and pray for unity on June 5, a date that falls between Western and Eastern Pentecost this year. This year’s WPCU theme, Abide in My Love & You Shall Bear Much Fruit (John 15:5-9), calls us to nourish unity with God and with one another through prayer, contemplative silence, & common action. Leaders from diverse Christian traditions in Canada will offer prayers and Scripture readings. The Rev. Michael Blair, General Secretary, General Council, The United Church of Canada, and His Eminence Gérald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Québec and Primate of Canada, will offer homiletic reflections.

This event is bilingual (English and French), with simultaneous translation in both languages. This online celebration is free for all who would like to attend, but a small contribution to offset the cost is welcomed. Please register on Eventbrite: wpcu-2021-spuc.eventbrite.ca Questions? Hungry & Alone: Generosity changed Amei’s Life: (A Mission & Service Note) Last year, Amei’s family had nothing to eat but wild fruit. On good days, Amei’s neighbours gave her their leftovers. But those days were few and far between. Amei is 61 years old and has lived in South Sudan, for 40 years. Over a decade ago her husband abandoned their family, including their four children. To get by, Amei collected firewood and sold it to feed her family. But now, her body is too weak. Chopping and hauling wood is too hard now. Thanks to the support of United Church partners, Amei’s life has changed for the better. “I was able to receive food for my family, such as sorghum, beans, cooking oil, and salt. I am able to cook nice food for my family. We also received vegetable seeds and tools to cultivate our own food. I am in a farmer group, and we received seeds of okra, kale, eggplant, onions, cabbage, carrot, and tomatoes, including tools such as watering cans, axes, and hoes for each of us. We have fenced our gardens as a group, and we come here every day to water them. We talk and pray that crops are good and appreciate those who help us,” says Amei. The support means hope for Amei and her children. For over three decades, just one of the ways the people of the United Church have worked to end world hunger is by partnering with 15 Canadian churches and church-based agencies that together form the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The Christian organization provides food in times of crisis for hungry people in parts of the world where there is high food insecurity, teaches people how to grow their own food, and provides nutritional education. Last year, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank helped over 800,000 people in 36 countries. “The United Church has been part of initiatives that save lives and support vulnerable people in the world living in the midst of crisis. Working with partners, we can and do make a difference,” says United Church Moderator Richard Bott. Make a gift to the United Church’s global COVID-19 appeal and ensure that people like Amei don’t go hungry. Your generosity saves and transforms lives. Thank you!

and suddenly you are doing the impossible." Francis of Assisi
