Prayer of St. Bonaventure (1221-1274)*

Pierce, O most sweet Lord Jesus Christ, my inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful pang of your love. With true, serene, and most holy apostolic charity so that my soul may always languish and melt with love and longing for you, that it may yearn for you and your dwell-ing place, and long to be dissolved and to be with you.

Grant that my soul may hunger after you, the bread of angels, refreshment of holy souls, our daily and super-substantial bread, having all sweetness and savor and every delight to the taste.

Let my heart always hunger and feed upon you, whom the angels yearn to look upon, and may my inmost soul be filled with the sweetness of your savor. May it always thirst after you, the source of life, source of wisdom and knowledge, source of eternal light, torrent of pleasure, richness of the house of God.

May it always compass you, seek you, find you, run to you, attain to you, meditate upon you, speak of you, and do all things for the honor and glory of your holy name with humility and discretion, with love and delight, with readiness and affection, and with perseverance to the end.

You alone, be always my hope and my whole confidence, my riches, my delight, my pleasure and my joy; my rest and tranquility; my peace, my sweetness and my fragrance; my sweet savor, my food and refreshment; my refuge and my help; my wisdom and portion, my possession and my treasure, in whom may my mind and my heart be always fixed and firm and rooted immovably. Amen.

FAMILY FORMATION A Whole Family Approach to

Learning and Living the Catholic Faith

The Family Formation Program at Holy Cross serves families with children in Grades K-6. It is a faith formation opportunity for the entire family. Families are supported and encouraged in their efforts to pray, worship, and grow in faith together as a Catholic family.

For families whose children are not enrolled in a Catholic school, Family Formation fulfills the need for religious education and sacramental preparation. However, all families with children in grades K-6 are invited to come and be part of the Family Formation community.

For more information or if you would like to register for this year, please contact Cindy Howie at 352-8748. Deadline for registration is Monday, August 14th.

CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

THE CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is available at Holy Cross. It is an approach to the religious formation of children that is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. The children come to an ’atrium’ where they are given the opportunity to independently discover the beauty of the Catholic faith and their role as a part of the body of Christ.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is offered for preschool children. If you are interested in having your preschooler participate in this exceptional program, please call Cindy Howie at 352-8748.

1ST, 2ND, AND 3RD YEAR CONFIRMATION CLASSES

Confirmation preparation classes for students attending public schools begin soon. Confirmation preparation is a 3-year cycle that typically begins with monthly classes in 6th grade and continues with weekly classes for 7th and 8th grades. The classes will start this September.

Registration forms can be sent to you, or pick one up at the Parish Office. Please return registration forms to the Parish Office by Monday, August 14th. For more information please call the Parish Office at 352-8748.

THANK YOU!

The WATCH Board would like to thank all who helped make the WATCH picnic a success—the set-up crew, clean-up crew, all who brought

a dish to share, and especially the cooks who worked over a hot grill all afternoon. All who attended had a great time!
