Reflections ˜ Reflexiones Gospel: Mark 14:12-16, 22-26

When people arrive at their parish church to celebrate Mass on Sunday morning, they are often distracted by many things. But this gospel reading reminds us of what Eucharist is all about. It helps us to focus on the Last Supper, the final Passover meal Jesus shared with his friends. There we hear him say those familiar and astounding words: "This is my body. This is my blood." The breaking of the bread and pouring out of the wine remind us once again of how Jesus' body was broken on the cross and how his blood was spilled for us. Now we are his body on earth. And we are nourished by his eucharistic presence among us. 1.) Who or what helps you to get "plugged into" what is really happening in the celebration of the Eucharist? 2.) How would you describe the difference the Eucharist makes in your life? What can you do to help others appreciate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ?

Pastor s Message˜ Mensaje del Pa´rroco THE GREATEST GIFT

Today is Corpus Christi, the feast of the Eucharist, a celebration that dates back to the thirteenth century. In some ways, every Sunday is a feast of the Eucharist. In the last century attention to Eucharistic devotions declined, while more people received frequent Communion. Recent

efforts to revitalize adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist through Perpetual Adoration, Corpus Christi celebrations, and Eucharistic Congresses have brought us back into balance. At Mass, when we receive Communion we are honoring and celebrating the precious gift of the Lord's own Body and Blood. Communion is a fulfillment of Christ's promise to be always with us. And Jesus in the Eucharist always requires a response from us. At the end of every Mass we are sent forth to love and serve the Lord. He gives us his very self--the greatest gift of all--so that we can go into the world and give in return. Copyright (c) 2011, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

Living Stewardship Now

Pray for the willingness to make the love of Christ, as shown to us in the Eucharist, present in our world. Lord Jesus Christ, we worship you living among us in the sacrament of your body and blood. May we offer to our Father in heaven a solemn pledge of undivided love. May we offer to our brothers and sisters a life poured out in loving service of that kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Alternative Opening Prayer for Corpus Christi.

PRECIOUS BLOOD On this solemnity we focus our attention on the Body and Blood of Christ. We listen to the story of the renewal of the old covenant, which Moses sealed by splashing the blood of animals on the altar of sacrifice, as well as on the people. Jesus, whose blood is the blood of the new covenant, shed that precious blood on the cross, saving us from sin and promising us everlasting life. Blood is the life source that courses through our bodies. The precious blood of Christ is the life source for our spirits. Today may we, like the psalmist, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, whose Body and Blood strengthen us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S.
