Dear Friends, I hope you have been able to enjoy this 4th of July weekend. As we are getting back to normal, little by little, it is an amazing opportunity to count all our blessings and to con-tinue praying for all those brothers and sisters who are struggling with the virus. May the Lord allow us to experi-ence freedom from this pandemic. I am one of those who likes to hear about Jesus's love and forgiveness, but I feel a little uncomfortable when Jesus requests something from me. This past weekend’s homily was not easy to be deliver, as Jesus says: “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” I don't know about you, but I want to be with the Lord. I want to be one of his favorite ones; therefore, I want to be worthy of Him. I love my family. In fact, I speak with my mom and siblings every day. We keep in con-tact with phone calls, facetime, and messages. I can't imagine my life without them, but I have discovered that human love could be limited. I may become upset because a brother said or did something wrong. In order to forgive him, I realize that I need to love Jesus first. Only if we love Jesus first will be able to love our family even more - not with a possessive love, but with the love of Christ who sacrifices himself out of love for you and me. So what is love? This question leads me to recall the first letter of St. Paul to the Corin-thians: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (1Cor 13) True love springs from the love of Christ. This is why we need to love Christ first. Only then we can love our father, mother, son, daughter, spouse, relatives, and friend. May you know that you are love! Happy 4th of July! Fr. Carlos Briceno

Sharing the Gospel Jesus knows that you can get tired. Doing your best in school is hard work. You also may feel tired, sad, or left out on the playground. Whenever you start to feel tired, remember that Jesus is with you. Learn from Jesus. Follow his example. Be honest. Be kind. Help others do the right thing. Jesus will help you. Prayer Jesus, I thank you for helping me when I'm tired. Something to Draw Draw a picture of Jesus beside you at school.
