23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 10 , 2017 PG.

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

First and foremost I hope that all of you had a restful summer and enjoyed a

peaceful Labor Day celebration with family and friends.

On Thursday, Sept. 7th we began our first day of School. This year I began the

year by Blessing the whole school! I blessed the building and it’s new repairs, the new

teachers who we were welcomed by our Parish a few weekends ago as well as the existing

teachers, the custodian, the Principal and it’s staff, the Religious Education staff and of

course all the children of both school and the Religious Ed Program. Everyone and every-

thing in the school has been blessed. May this year be a very successful academic year for

all.

In keeping with the beginning of the school year, very soon we will be having the

Blessing of the backpacks, the time and date will be given soon.

On Monday, September 11th, in honor of those who perished on 9/11 we will be having

a Mass of Remembrance at 7:30 pm. This is the day that we recognize our own parishioners

who fell victim to that terrible day. The names will be called and bells tolled in remembrance

of them.

On Sunday, Sept. 17th at the 10:00 am Mass we are celebrating Catechetical Sunday.

We invite all Catechists and parishioners to join us in acknowledging and commissioning all

Catechists in our Religious Education program.

In the wake of the terrible Hurricane that hit Texas. I would like to thank all of who

donated in any way to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Your heartfelt concern for others

has not gone unnoticed. I am sure the Lord will reward you by putting your needs for others

before your own. Also please continue praying for all those who were affected by hurri-

canes and most recently affected by Hurricane Irma here in the U.S. and elsewhere.

As mentioned to you in last week’s letter, we have recently changed the Votive candle

stands to electric ones. We apologize for some of them not working properly . We are

addressing the situation and hopefully the problems will be rectified. Also, we are in the

process of changing the locks on the candle donation boxes. This will help to secure the do-

nations and prevent any possible criminal activity from taking place.

On Sunday September 17th at 10:00 am, there will be a free bus from the Amboy

Road parking lot of Our Lady Help of Christians to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City

to venerate throughout the day the relics of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. The bus will also take

you back free of charge. Please call the rectory if you are interested in attending.

May God Bless you, Fr. Frank
