FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long. As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
Aren’t those lyrics great?! My friends, today we begin Holy Week and we are invited to walk with Jesus, that is to enter truly and faithfully into his passion and death so that we can rise with him to new life. Are you ready? Are you making plans so that you do not treat this like any other week? For instance, is your calendar marked for tomorrow afternoon or evening (Monday) to go to confession? Our church like most churches throughout the Archdiocese will have confessors available from 4PM to 8PM. If you have been away for a long time, we are having a sale! It is pretty straightforward: confess one’s sins, receive God’s forgiveness for any and all sins! Are you interested in our Tenebrae services at 9 AM on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday? They will be both prayerful and beautiful. Tenebrae is the Latin word for darkness. In this morning ser-vice during the Triduum, traditionally candles are extinguished after the singing of the Lamentations and the Psalms. Are you bringing your family with you on Holy Thursday evening at 7:30PM to celebrate the gifts of the Eucharist and the Sacred Priesthood? We will also have a procession after the Mass to the Repository in our Lady’s chapel. Many people will come from all over as they visit seven churches and pray before the Blessed Sacrament in each church. A great family activity! Good Friday is the one day of the year when you will not find Mass celebrated anywhere. Something strange is happening. We feel the awful absence of Jesus. Will you be sure to join your parish fam-ily for the 11AM Celebration for the children’s stations of the cross? Will you be sure to join us for the 3PM celebration of the Lord’s Passion, the Veneration of the Cross and the Reception of Holy Communion? We will also have the Stations of the Cross at 7:30PM. And finally, will you help all of us to enter Easter glory by recalling our salvation history and then encountering the Risen Lord at the Easter Vigil (8PM) on Holy Saturday?! Let it be, Dear Lord, let it be! Have a great Holy Week everyone, let us pray for one another! To all our visitors today and next week, we really have a great faith community here at IHM and we would love to see you more often. Welcome Home!
