1. Parish Membership - We welcome all our visitors and guests who worship at St. Nicholas. We invite families and individuals who wish to become members to register with us by calling the Church Office at 273-6752 via e-mail: office@cerkva.com, or speaking with Fr. Mikhail.

2. Meetings: Stewardship Council - will have their meeting on Tues., Jan. 28th at 6pm. Pastoral Council – will have their meeting on Tues., Feb. 4th at 6pm.

3. Patronize our Advertisers - on the back of our weekly bulletin are the names of those who advertise with us. We ask that you please patronize these generous people. We wish that God may grant them many successful years in their profession.

4. Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick - If a family member is seriously ill at home or in a hospital, or unable to come to Church and would like to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confession and or Holy Communion, please call the parish office to arrange a pastor’s visit.

5. Visit the sick and shut-ins - Many of our parishioners are ill or shut-ins and are unable at this time to share with us the joy of worshiping our God. Since they are the members of our St. Nicholas family, it’s our responsibility to care about them. It is my hope and expectation that you will remember them in your prayers and will find time during this time of Great Fast to visit some of them in the hospital, nursing homes or at home. It would mean so much to them to know that they are not forgotten and that they are still a member of our church community.

9. Ukrainian Club Meeting – All members of the Ukrainian American Citizens Club in Watervliet are invited to our Monthly Meeting Friday February 21st at 7:30 p.m. New members are always Welcome.

10. National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in Troy Music Hall - on Thursday, February 13 at 7:30pm. Ukrainian American Cultural Center (UACC) and Rochester Federal Credit Union (RUFCU) are sponsoring upcoming concert. After UACC+RUFCU sponsorship prices are as follows: *** - Ukrainian community and friends: $35 and $25 (regular prices $55 & $45) ***- UACC members: $30 & $20 ****- Children under 18: $15 & $10 (note that Troy Music

11. Children's Valentine's Day Zabava/Dance! - The Ukrainian Cultural Center is hosting the Children's Valentine's Day Zabava/Dance! On Friday, February 14, 6:00PM - 10:00PM at Ukrainian Club, Watervliet. Pizza, kids' drinks and music will be provided. This event is for school age children. Parents are welcome to socialize downstairs.

12. NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS: Interested in serving on our Pastoral or Stewardship Council? Or would you like to recommend another parishioner who would be a valuable addition to either Council? Nominations are being accepted for vacancies on both Councils. Nominees must be at least 18 years old and a member in good standing with the Church. Nominations are to be submitted to the church office in written form by February 4th. Please consider Diocesan Guidelines in making your decisions. STAMFORD DIOCESE PARISH COUNCIL

POLICIES AND GUIDELINES Canon 295 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches states: "In the parish there are to be appropriate councils dealing with pastoral and financial matters, in accord with the norms of the particular law of its own Church sui juris." In accordance with c. 290.1, 'The pastor represents the parish in all its juridic affairs." He is to see to it that the goods of the parish are administered in accord with the norms of canons 1020.1.2., 1024-1026, 1029, 1030-1032. The Stewardship and Pastoral Councils are a mandated consultative body which advises pastors and pastoral administrators regarding stewardship of parish financial resources and other parish related matter. The councils possess a consultative voice.

Membership: "Only such members may be placed on the stewardship council who strive to model their lives on the moral principles of the Catholic Church; who frequent the Holy Mysteries; who cause no scandal; and who are not hostile to the Church and Church Authorities" (Pastoral Guide, art. 588.3). In addition, members should be: a. • not related to the parish priest by blood

or marriage; b. • not in the employ of the parish; c. • baptized and confirmed Catholics in good

standing with the Church: d. • registered and supporting members of

the parish; e. • participants in parish life; f. • in possession of an understanding of and

commitment to the Church in accord with the principles of Vatican II;

g. • committed to prayer, study, listening and dialogue;

h. • committed to giving the time needed for participation; and

i. • confirmed by the bishop. j. If a parish employs a professional staff

member as business manager, the manager should serve as an ex-officio member.

III. Size The council should be large enough to include a broad representation of expertise, but not so large as to inhibit planning and the development of recommendations. Five to seven members is recommended.

IV. Selection Council members should be selected by the pastor (pastoral administrator) through an open search process which begins with an identification of membership needs, followed by recruitment, an application process, interviews, and a selection process that may include the council itself, the pastoral council or the pastor.

6. Нові члени Пасторальної Ради та Ради Управління – Чи знаєте ви достойних кандидатів на це служіння? У січні ми приймаємо прохання та рекомендації. Кандидатури повинні бути подані у письмовій формі до церковного офісу до 9-го лютого. Просимо брати під увагу кваліфікаційні умови для кандидатів подані Епархією. 7. Відвідини - деякі члени нашої парохії відсутні у Церкві через недомагання, хворобу, чи перебування у старечому домі. Однак не так хвороба чи старість, а самотність приносять їм страждання та смуток. Наші відвідини, телефонний дзвінок, чи сердечний лист матимуть цілющий ефект. Отож принесім жертву приємну для Господа.

До Тимотея першого послання св. апостола Павла читання: (1Тм 4,9-15): Сину Тимотею, вірне це слово й повного довір’я гідне. На це бо й трудимося та боремося, тому що ми поклали нашу надію на живого Бога, який є Спасителем усіх людей, особливо ж вірних. Це наказуй і навчай. Ніхто твоїм молодим віком хай не гордує, але будь зразком для вірних у слові, поведінці, любові, вірі й чистоті. Заки я прийду, віддавайся читанню, умовлянню та навчанню. Не занедбуй у собі дару, що був даний тобі через пророцтво з накладанням рук збору пресвітерів. Про це міркуй, будь увесь у цьому, щоб поступ твій усім був очевидний.

Алилуя (4): Натягни лук і наступай, і пануй істини ради, лагідности і справедливости (Пс 44,5). Стих: Ти полюбив правду і зненавидів беззаконня (Пс 44,8).

Євангеліє: (Лк 19,1-10): У той час, увійшовши в Єрихон, Ісус проходив через (місто). А був там чоловік, Закхей на ім’я; він був головою над митарями й був багатий. Він бажав бачити Ісуса, хто він такий, але не міг із-за народу, бо був малого зросту. Побіг він наперед, виліз на сикомор, щоб подивитися на нього, бо Ісус мав проходити тудою. Прийшовши на те місце, Ісус глянув угору і сказав до нього: “Закхею, притьмом злізай, бо я сьогодні маю бути в твоїм домі.” І зліз той швидко і прийняв його радо. Всі, бачивши те, заходилися нарікати та й казали: “До чоловіка грішника зайшов у гостину.” А Закхей устав і до Господа промовив: “Господи, ось половину майна свого даю вбогим, а коли чимсь когось і покривдив, поверну вчетверо.” Ісус сказав до нього: “Сьогодні на цей дім зійшло спасіння, бо й він син Авраама. Син бо Чоловічий прийшов шукати і спасти те, що загинуло.”

Причасний: Хваліте Господа з небес, хваліте Його на висотах (Пс 148,1).* Чашу спасіння

прийму і ім’я Господнє призову (Пс 115,4). Алилуя (х3).
