Hymn of Praise Unison Scriptures7:30 a.m.

EPHESIANS 3:14-21 (MSG)14-19My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

20-21God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church!Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!Glory down all the generations!Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

VERSE 2Summer and winter and springtime

HEBREWS 12:1 (NIV)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

6:00 p.m.

ACTS 2:42-47 (NRSV)42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 44All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, 47praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Guest Preacher Bio

The Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, Jr., Pastor Emeritus, Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, Cleveland, OH, was called to the ministry at the age of 17 during his days as a student at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Morehouse from 1994-2005. His quest for knowledge and pursuit of educational excellence led him to Morehouse College as a Bachelor of Arts graduate and onward to the Morehouse’s School of Religion/Inter-Denominational Theological Center where he received the Master of Divinity degree. Dr. Moss selected a further course of Special Studies at the Inter-Denominational Theological Center and ultimately achieved his goal of the Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in 1990.

During his early days as a minister, Dr. Moss was blessed to sit at the feet within the inner circle of many phenomenal persons such as Benjamin E. Mays and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Both of these persons provided friendship, leadership and spiritual guidance and helped to shape the thinking and model for leadership Dr. Moss represents today. He is recognized across the nation and globe as an eloquent spokesperson and spiritually grounded man of God, carrying the banner for love, justice, equality, and human rights for all.

As Dr. Moss so aptly states: “My decision to enter the ministry is a gift…a special calling from God.” His ministry is truly a gift; held up before the world as shining light for all to see. This gift was first discovered in his pastorates at several congregations in the LaGrange and Atlanta areas (including co-pastoring with Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., at Ebenezer Baptist Church), further developed at Mt. Zion (Cincinnati, Ohio), and reaching full fruition at the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio, where he has just celebrated his 33rd Pastoral Anniversary.

Dr. Moss has consulted with Presidents, been honored for his work in civil rights and has delivered the Word of the Gospel all across the globe. He is recognized and revered for his dedication to all humankind. Dr. Moss’ accolades and achievements are great in number, superceding the barriers of color, race and religion.

Dr. Moss is married to Mrs. Edwina Moss and they are the proud parents of three children, Kevin, Daphne (deceased) and Otis III; the proud grandparents of five grandchildren, and great-grandparents of two great-grandchildren.

AnnouncementsADULT CLASS OF THE SATURDAY BIBLE SCHOOL

CALL FOR CHURCHWIDE PRAYER

The Adult Bible Class of the Saturday Bible School is requesting a call for a CHURCH-WIDE PRAYER. We recently studied a series on the Book of Jonah. We know that Jonah despised Nineveh because they were a hateful and violent people; yet God, through Jonah, sent a message that changed their hearts!

The gun violence and crime in our city is horrendous and needs to stop! We would like to pray for the God’s protection over our youth as they begin their summer break.

We are asking for our church family to join us in an OUTRIGHT OUTRAGEOUS OUTCRY to God to change the hearts of the offenders (The hateful

violent people of our city); to open their eyes and hearts to God’s love, and asking God to humble their hearts, bringing them to repentance and to living out a life loving and lifting Jesus!

On Monday June 19th (Juneteenth), we will be asking God to SET FREE the offenders from willingly living lives of violence, as they realize that they are already FREE in Christ Jesus! In addition to this prayer, we would also like to pray for the safe journey for our Trinity family and others who will be traveling on the Ethiopian Sojourn.

Church family, please join us, as we fast and pray:

Monday, June 19th (Juneteenth)FASTING TIME: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PRAYER TIMES: 5:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.

The numbers 5 and 10 are significant with Jonah 3:5 KJV:

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, a proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.”

and Jonah 3:10 KJV:

“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that He had said that He would do unto them; and He did not.”

2017 Churchwide Theme18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 (NRSV)

1st Quarter Theme: Growing in LoveJanuary - Ephesians 3:16-19 (NRSV)16I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

February - Philippians 1:9-11 (NRSV)9And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight 10to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, 11having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.

March - John 13:34 (NRSV)34I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

2nd Quarter Theme: Growing in the Word of God

April - Colossians 3:16 (NRSV)16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.

May - Luke 8:14 (NRSV)14As for what fell among the thorns, these are the ones who hear; but as they go on their way, they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

June - 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

3rd Quarter Theme: Growing in HolinessJuly - 2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)1Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

August - Romans 12:2 (NIV)2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

September - Exodus 15:2 (MSG)God is my strength. God is my song, and, yes! God is my salvation. This is the kind of God I have and I’m telling the world!

4th Quarter Theme: Maturing in ChristOctober - James 1:2-4 (NIV)2Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

November - Hebrews 5:12-14 (NIV)12In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

December - 1 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
