Introduction
Chronemics is the study of Time in nonverbal communication. It includes the way –
i. We perceive time
ii. Structure our time
iii. React to time
Chronomics are put into two time system categories-
1. Monochronic
2. Polychronic
Monochronic time system
These people do one thing at a time These pay focus on the job These are accustomed to short term relationship They remain fix to their plans
once formed
Polychronic time system
These do several things at a time These pay focus to human relationship These have tendency to build lifetime relationship They change their plans often and easily
Time orientation
There are three time orientations in relation to their impact on communication-

Influence of chronomics on global affairs
Different perceptions of time across cultures are there all of which can influence global communication situations
It is one of those non verbal communication ,the treatment of time illustrates their perspective of time
The three examples of how chronemix and power are related in the workplace are-
Waiting time Talk time Work time
Waiting time- To be kept waiting is to imply that one’s time is less valuable
than that of the one who imposes the wait
Talk time- Those with more power speak more often and for greater length
of time
Work time- Individuals who spend more time in meetings, or to develop
contacts are more likely to be influential decision makers
Time is money
Punctuality is the basic requirement for everyone The way we use time reflect our individuality we should make
the best possible use of it as much we can
