OUR YOUTH ACTIVITIES Under the direction of Rabbi Sol~

tes our Youth program has com­menced most auspiciously. The Aaron Wise Society for young folks of college age held a supper meet­ing, Tuesday evening, October 15th, and planned a program of the year on the theme: "Vocations", with representative personalities present­ing talks on their respective work. A t the next meeting a noted J ~wish actor will be the guest speaker.

The Rodeph Shalom League be­gan its year with a Musical Even­ing, October 8th, the Concert being given by pupils of Mrs. Rhea Spar­ago October 15th, Rabbi Jacob Cohen, Director of Fellowship Activ­ities in .the Reconstructionist Foun­dation inaugurated a series on "Jewish Youth in the World Today" with a discussion of "What Is Jew­ish Culture?" The program October 22nd will feature square dancing.

The Opening Dance of the Rod,eph Shalom League will take place on Saturday Eve., October 26th, at 8:30, in the Temple . Auditorium. Music will be by Harry Muller and his or­chestra: . A. George Kaufman, Pres­identof the League, invites young adults to attend. Subscription:will be 99 cents. ·

- ----The Young Married Guild of which

Max Cutler is Pres., is launching its cultural and social program, Tues­day evening, October 22nd, with a discussion on "Palestine - Promise or Mirage?" led by Rabbi Soltes. Following the formal presentation there will be an open discussion from the floor by members of the audience.

Sunday Morning, November 3rd, at 10:45 the 17th year of our Sunday Morning Services will be inaugu­rated. Distinguished spokesmen in the field of religion, culture, socio­logical and community affairs will come to us again this year. Watch for the next announcement!

We appreciate it greatly at our Temple Office if information is brought to us by telephone or in writing concerning occasions of re­joicing or otherwise which are to be mentioned in our Temple "Chron­icle". It is difticult for us to depend upon securing this information from the general press or by indirect word of mouth, and we therefore invite our Temple families to com­municate with us directly.

We wish also to call the atten­tion of our Congregants to the effect that the Name of a Departed mem­ber of the family is mentioned at Sabbath Services in the Roster of Remembrance on the Friday and Saturday following the date of the demise. If this date falls very close to the previous Sabbath, . vie trust that families will notify the Sexton; Mr. Jonas R. Goldberg, so that th~ Name to be mentioned may be add­ed. to the list on our Roster of Re­membrance. will speak on "REMODEL YOUR OLD IDEAS"

At this meeting we are also show­ing the documentary sound film

"OPERATION S 0 S" describing the activities of the SOS collection. This film is now being exhibited throughout the nation. It is a ten minute chronicle of the des­perate needs of lAOO,OOO Jewish sur­vivors, and tells how relief supplies are collected and dis t rib ute d abroad. Many of the scenes were photographed in the work rooms of our Temple House, and show our own members sewing, knitting, and bringing parcels of clothing for the needy. Myron McCormick, noted stage and screen actor, is the nar­rator for the fiIm. SOCIAL HOUR - REFRESHMENTS

MEN'S ASSOCIATION Two outstanding occasions have

been scheduled by our Men's As­sociation. Tuesday evening, Novem­ber ' 12th, Rabbi A vraham Soltes will give a talk, following a brief busi­ness meeting. We know that the men of the Congregation will wel­come 1his opportunity to hear Rabbi Soltes and to discuss with him his message.

Thanksgiving Eve, November 27th, the guest . artist at the Men's Association Party will be Mr. Sam­uel Levinson, one of the most de­lightful Jewish raconteurs of the day. Mr. Levinson is famous for his home­ly stories of Jewish lore, and is known as the man who is "encored and encored."

Refreshments will be served, and a highly enjoyable time is guaran­teed for us all. Mr. Samuel Kolin, President of the Men's Association urges all Congregants and friends to cooperate in making the Thanks­giving Eve Party a thunderous suc­cessl

MID-WEEK HEBREW

Students in the Religious School and post-graduate department who are interested in a reading know­ledge of the Hebrew Language will have an opportunity to attend the mid-week Hebrew Classes which have started this past Tuesday after­noon. There will be classes for be­ginners and advanced students under the direction of Mrs. Abraham Burstein. Classes meet each ,Tues­day afternoon at 4:00 o'clock on the 5th Floor of the Temple House. '
