The modern Christmas tree tradition is believed to have begun in Germany in the 18th century. Though many argue that Martin Luther began the tradition in the 16th century. Traditional decorations of Chreestmas tree include bells, candles, candy canes, stockings, wreaths and angels.

Music and carols are very popular at Christmas

Singing of carols and songs about Christmas is very popular all over the world. But the most famous are African American spirituals and songs about Christmas based on their tradition of spirituals.

Food

A special Christmas family meal is traditionally an important part of the holiday's celebration. In England and countries influenced by its traditions, a standard Christmas meal includes turkey or goose, meat, gravy, potatoes, vegetables, sometimes bread and cider. Special desserts are also prepared, such as Christmas pudding, mince piece and a fruit cake.

Gift giving

Gift giving is one of the core aspects of the modern Christmas celebration. The most famous gift-bringing figure all over the world is Santa Claus. Children believe that Santa Claus accompanied by helpers, inquiring about the behaviour of children during the past year before deciding whether they deserved a gift or not.
