5 Household Uses for Tennis Balls 5 common household issues that can be solved with tennis balls…..
Tennis balls can be used for more than just volleying back and forth on the court. Check out these six useful and alternative ways to use them. 1. Key and Change Holder If you find yourself misplacing your keys — or with loose change in your bag — a tennis ball is the perfect solution. They are pliable, hollow and can be easily transformed into a fun, functional compartment. Instructions Using a sturdy box cutter, cut a “mouth” 2-inches wide into the tennis ball. If you’re making this for a kid, hot glue a set of googly eyes above the mouth. Fill the hollowed ball with loose change and throw into your purse or gym bag as a travelling buddy. For a more stationary solution, using a nail or knitting needle, poke a hole through your tennis ball, attach a suction cup, and hang it on the wall. Stick keys, change or cards in the mouth so they don’t get lost. Tip: Your handy new friend can also be used to hold other everyday items such as hand towels, pens, reading glasses, mail and many other things. The possibilities are endless!
2. Jar Opener Upcycle tennis balls into two jar openers! Cut one open along the seam and use each piece as a grip on the stubborn jar lid. 3. Mark Parking Spots in the Garage Make parking your car in the garage stress-free! All you need is string, a staple gun, a ladder and a tennis ball.
Park your car in the perfect spot
Cut an extra long piece of string and tape a tennis ball to one end
Climb a ladder and hold the loose end of the string from the ceiling until the tennis ball is barely touching the windshield in front of the driver’s seat
Staple the string into place
When you or someone in your family pulls the car in the garage, they will know just where to stop without bumping into anything. 4. Sand Curvy Objects It can be tricky to sand a curvy surface while also maintaining its shape. Next time you run into this dilemma, wrap a tennis ball in sandpaper. The round shape of the ball will help keep you from accidently sanding flat and uneven spots.
5. Fluff Towels and Pillows Including two or three tennis balls to your next load of laundry will add some extra fluff. The bouncing felt balls break up lumps and spruce up fibres. Extra bonus, they also reduce drying time.
