Christian Visi or June 17, 2014 Volume 68 Issue 24 Michal and I put in a French door last week that opens up to our deck. Actually I should say that Michal and I assisted while a few friends installed the door. It was hard work and there are still some cosmetic things that need to be done but wow, what a difference it has made in our home. First of all let me say it was hard work as those who helped will testify. Cutting out a section of an outside wall in your home and putting in a double door is not for the faint of heart. It was not nearly as easy as I thought it might be. We began by tearing out a window, a wall, an outlet, siding, insulation and everything else we ran into that was in the space we wanted to place the door. Then there was the process of rebuilding part of the wall, the floor, the header and the many other things needed for the installation of the door. Now the door is in and the amount of light that flows into the back part of our home is incredible. It has changed the look and the feel of the room. In fact it has completely changed the room. Not only this, but it has given us easy access to the deck and the backyard. We foresee a lot of joy flowing from the view, the sunlight and the ease of access to the deck and backyard. As I pondered our construction project, cutting a hole and letting the sun shine in, isn’t this what occurs when we give our lives over to Christ? At some point we were made aware there is a better life on the other side of the wall of this life. We may have struggled with the difficulty of access to the light but eventually we allowed a hole to be cut in the wall of our heart so the light of Christ could come flowing into this space. This changed our lives, it changed our views, it changed everything. We are now walking in the light of Christ in our new life. Not only do we get the blessings of Christ shining in our lives but we also get the privilege of walking through the door into the presence of the giver of the light. “I am the way, the truth and the life…” Jesus said. Jesus is the door we can use to access God, the Creator of the Universe. We can now, “…draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, NASB) The construction phase is not always easy. Allowing walls to be torn down, attitudes to be rewired and even some windows to be removed is hard work. The rebuilding that needs to occur in order for ease of access to our new life is sometimes complicated and strewn with the temptation to quit. But the payoff is a life that is completely rebuilt by the Master Builder Himself. Sunshine, health, spiritual and physical vitality, they are all benefits of a life open to the Master Builder. Michal and I have already entered into the happiness brought into our lives by the installation of the French doors in our home but it pales in comparison to the joy brought into our lives by Christ and all He has to offer. I pray each of you are entering into all the joy available to you as you access the Father through the door of a relationship with the Son. In much love, Pastor Darrel

Michal and I put in a French door last week that opens up to our deck. Actually I should say that Michal and I assisted while a few friends installed the door. It was hard work and there are still some cosmetic things that need to be done but wow, what a difference it has made in our home. Great Expectations Class: Thank you to Karen Petersilie for facilitating our lesson Sunday ~ “Put Your Money to Work.” This week the discussion was on putting the money God has given us to work. The point of the session was that we need to be ready to give as the need arises and to give with an open heart and not that one of “I just gave money for this and now they want money for that.” A question discussed was “If you had a financial need that was met by a group of believers, what would that communicate to you? Karen and Connie had both experienced fires firsthand. They were overwhelmed by all the people who came to their aid so generously and freely…giving of themselves, bringing in food, clothes, money etc. To them it was an easy choice to return a need because they had been a witness to it firsthand. Next week we will be discussing “Work Your Plan” so if you would like to come and sit in our class please feel free…you are all welcome.

MONUMENTAL THANKS!!!! Thank you to the all the many wonderful people who helped make this week's VBS such a success! Whether it was staff, prayer warriors, helpers, or parents/grandparents/friends that brought students to VBS. ...thank you from the bottom of our hearts! It wouldn't be possible without you! Every opportunity we get to expose our youth to Jesus and God's amazing love for us is so important! Thank you again! Because of your efforts we saw 148 students, raised more than $1500 which will go to pay camp fees for HHCC, and saw many students’ lives start making the necessary changes which will lead them to a salvation decision in their futures! God Bless, Chris and VBS Team!

GIVING SOMEONE A LIFT There are lots of ways to boost someone's spirits! Records since 2009 show that FCC volunteers have given over 500 rides to people who have doctor appointments and need help getting there in the form of a driver. Would you be able to help with this ministry? We especially need those who can drive in the City. You will be much appreciated! Call Marilyn at 448-3452 or 448-6449. Thank You!

We, at Kansans For Life, appreciate your generosity and prayers and again would like to thank you so much for assisting with the Baby Bottle Campaign. A reminder for those who filled your bottles with change in support of the Baby Bottle Project being sponsored by our local Kansans for Life group and endorsed by our local ministerial alliance that you may still return them to the church office during this week or on Sunday, June 22. Thank you for helping to protect life.
