A (3) level remodel-addition to an ex-isting 700 S.F. home in Sunset Cliffs. I prepared the construction docu-ments and guided this project through the permit process. I also assisted in the materials estimation, construction staging, demolition and framing. This project is currently under construction.

RECENT WORKS Del Mar Residence - 20113A new (3) level custom resi-dence in Del Mar. I assisted in the entitlement process and acted as Job Captain through the construction document and permitting phases. This set of construction documents was ex-tremely thorough and detailed to ensure accurate estimations. I was responsible for issuing addenda, reviewing shop draw-ings, responding to R.F.I.’s and change orders.

RECENT WORKS (20) Unit Multi-Family - 20114Our fi rm was hired to take this (20) unit detached multi-fam-ily project form 50% construc-tion document completetion to 100% completion in two months. I acted as job captain working with the project architect and a draftsman. My responsibili-ties included code compliance, A.D.A. accessibility compliance, consultant coordination and re-view, and fi le management.

DESIGN SCHOOL

This thesis attempted to understand how spontaneity can relate to the architectural design process as a means to UNDERSTAND an architectural problem and achieve an architectural result that exhibits aesthetic INNOVATION. By constructing a methodology through spontaneous tech-niques seen in DADA, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and American Jazz, this thesis was able to cultivate and de-velop concepts through automatic acts, spontaneous acts and concluded with schematic acts.

My design strategy hinges on the superim-position of the geographic and sociopoliti-cal geometries and FIGURES of downtown San Diego. The outlines of Balboa Park, the system of land division, the highway sys-tem, the hundred foot topographical con-tours, the fl ight path and the fault lines are the contextual layers that are associated with the PROGRAM, superimposed onto the site and delineated into FORM.

DESIGN SCHOOLThis group project included the partici-pation of Ryan Thornton and Aaron Kettl, under the direction of Mitra Kanaani, and at the request of DR. IRWIN JACOBS and the San Diego Symphony. They re-quested a design for a permanent out-door Bandshell that would support their summer concert series at South Embar-cadero Marina Park.

The fi nal design was suggested through local contextual patterns that were se-lected based upon programmatic asso-ciations.

This mixed use project is an exten-sion of the URBAN CARPET. The ground level provides 20,000 S.F. of street facing shops that spill life onto the sidewalks, outdoor spaces that allow the residents to claim OWNERSHIP and, at the same time, can be shared with the PUBLIC REALM. There are 14 different types of residential units that range from apartment to townhome styles of living. There are 8 live/work units where each one differs in fl oor plan.

EARLY WORKSMy professional experience prior to my architectural education included intense participation in the design process and full responsibility for schematic phases through the construction of numerous high-end custom residential homes. Many of these homes contained complex roof systems, heavy timber framing, steel frames and heavy snow loads.

The design process of this custom resi-dence involved many exercises and stud-ies before the conclusion was realized. I worked closely with the architect and cli-ent, providing several renderings of op-tions.or forms and fi nishes.
