• The kind of CE or Christian learning that evolves as

the church and the world evolves.

• The kind of CE that is intentionally conducted/planned.

THE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

IN THE CHURCH

Because…

WHY?

Page 7: Christian Education: An Overview Jan 31, 2015

The Goal of Formal

Education in the Church• is to provide intentional learning through training and

nurturing disciples (members) as they face the challenges/issues of the changing world/the church itself and their own selves and develop active participation and improved service in the various ministries created by the church for the benefit not only of the inside but the larger outside community that it can reach as far and wide as possible to which they are called as Christians.

AGAIN, WHY?

Page 8: Christian Education: An Overview Jan 31, 2015

From informal gathering of the believers,

Christianity grew. It was

institutionalized. It became an

ORGANIZATION due to its growth in

number and needs where the members

has to be nurtured in order to continue

its existence and develop as Christ

intends it to be.

Seminaries/Bible Schools, etc.

In order to systematize the learning

process within the organized church for the

improvement of its church works/ministries

The Church as an Organization therefore needs

to manage its Christian Education seriously

1. Administration and Supervision

2. Planning (Developmental Planning and

Management)

3. Recruitment

4. Staffing

5. Coordinating

6. Monitoring

7. Evaluation or Assessment

8. Documentation

The Management of CE

The Scope of CEAll the educational needs of the various organizations within the local church. Where there is an organization, there is the need for growth and advancement and therefore the need for

training or education. Everything that concerns with understanding our faith and materializing it appropriately in every issues and problems existing in our lives, the church

and the world. Every educational training/venues falls under the CE work. It is planned, supervised, monitored and

coordinated through and by the CE Committee and the CE personnel- the assigned CE Worker (CE Director then DM or

Diaconal Minister now).

THE CURRICULUM

Page 16: Christian Education: An Overview Jan 31, 2015

The source of Curriculum

The Interpretation of our own Faith (the Statement of Faith and Beliefs) for unity of responses and stand in order to develop a strong conviction according to our faith understanding

Page 17: Christian Education: An Overview Jan 31, 2015

Strong conviction or stand is the

consequence of a well-trained mind

and soul

A well-educated/trained Christian in faith is

courageous to speak up and defend his or

her convictions even if he/she is left all alone

because deep in his heart and mind is the

peace of God that passes all understanding.

A well-educated/nurtured church in terms of faith lessons (increasing in the knowledge of God) is like a tree that bears fruit in every good work (Colossians 1:10)

Unless the church grow and multiply in its various ministries

inside and outside its four walls, it is not really developing in

CE and in its whole purpose as a church. It is simply or

merely maintaining its existence. In quality and quantity, it

should grow if it is truly well-nurtured in lessons of faith

where participation and leadership are shared equally.
