Gradual Return To Normal Ministry CCC’s staff and elders have prayerfully moved toward normal ministry in a way we hope will assure our flock that we care about their health, while trying not to over-react in undue fear about coronavirus. One feature of our “current normal” is seating options on Sunday morning: for those who are comfortable sitting closer to others, the center sections of the sanctuary; for those who prefer to social distance a while longer, the sides and the balcony.

Hebrews Series Challenge The main idea of the sermon we call Hebrews is something like “Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus and run the race with perseverance.” You might memorize the portion from where we get that summary sentence vocabulary – Hebrews 12:1-3, or better yet, 12:1-13.

Mijangos Family Transition From Guatemala Diana and Leonel, after seeking the Lord's guidance, have decided to relocate their family for the long term to the US. In a loving gesture we would like to throw them a housewarming party. This afternoon from 1 - 3 we'll have a drive thru party at the CCC chapel entrance. The

Consider Make-Up Giving In The Final Quarter Given the challenge of ministry in coronavirus season, it’s perhaps not surprising that 2020 tithes and offering are lagging behind budget. But we need to fix that! There’s no fat in the budget, so we hope our congregation will give generously in the remaining weeks of this year so we can end in the black or close to it.

Nominating Committee The committee charged with presenting candidates for church office at our February congregational meeting is Tim Glover, Drew Wicklund, Azucena Moreno, Sue Lehman, and Joe Humphrey. Pray for their work, and feel free to give them names of people you think they should consider.

No Senior High Youth Group tonight as we are at Fall Camp this weekend.

Starting This Week - Senior High Small Group Bible Studies These single gender groups will begin on October 13th, but sign-ups are already underway. We have guys' and girls' groups on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights (7-8:30 pm). This year’s study will begin in the book of Romans as we see how the gospel moves us from guilt to glory. Contact Pastor Leo to sign up.

Starting This Week - 7th/8th Grade Bible Instruction Course (BIC) - This yearlong class meets on Sunday mornings and involves 26 lessons walking through the foundations of the Christian faith, theology and Christian living. Those who meet the attendance, lesson review and memory work requirements will receive a leather-bound study Bible from the church.

There Is Still Room @ Junior High Fall Camp Junior High (October 23-25) Fall Retreat registration is up and running at www.campzion.com. Join us for the beauty and joy of an autumn weekend complete with great food, fun activities, worship of our great God and the making of many memories. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SESSION IS LIMITED TO 40 CAMPERS EACH. The cost is $120. Bus fees are an additional $30 per camper . Financial aid is available. Contact Pastor Leo for more info.

A Word On Security Please note that youth ministry supervision begins 15 minutes prior to each youth event and lasts until the last student is picked up. We ask that parents not drop off their students more than 15 minutes prior to an event, as they will be unsupervised.

Why Are Our Youth Groups Meeting Live? We desire to provide for the complete health of our youth as we consider the current health crises of Covid-19, loneliness, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Some basic precautions will be in place and we respect every family’s decision as to what is best for them. Please note that any student exhibiting potential Covid-19 symptoms should remain home. Lost & Found We have a small Lost & Found area in the hall between the Narthex and the Office. There are some items from Camp Zion and from the picnic at Promised Land, as well as things left behind here. You’re Invited to our Fall Recital! Monday, October 19th at 7:00pm in the Christian Arts Auditorium we will be hosting our very first student recital of the school year! Join us to experience the talent and witness the hard work our students put into their music!

Zion Conservatory of Music to launch new self-paced guitar course! If you've ever wanted to learn to play the guitar, this beginner course is for you! Designed for anyone ages 13 and up, it is taught by a ZCM guitar instructor and is fully on-line. The program offers three lessons per week to be studied at the student's own

pace. Most students will complete the program anywhere from 90 days to a year. In addition, there will be live Zoom calls with the instructor that will offer feedback and tips and techniques to enhance student learning. For more information, please contact the Conservatory office at 847-872-4803.

Men’s Retreat October 16-18, 2020 Guys, enjoy great fellowship and sharing times around the coffee pot, campfire, and charcoal grill!
