ABSTRACT
Buildinguponcertainveryconvincinghistoricalevidencesthatarehardtodismissasmereheresy,
thisarticlereconcilesourunderstandingofthelifeandteachingsofJesusChristwiththehistorical
evidences.IneachofthesecasesweuseamplereferencesfromtheBibleandfindthattheGospels
oftheBibleseamlesslyblendwithhistoricalevidences.
AstheBiblesays,JesusisthechosenMessengerofGod.GodindeedraisedHimfromthedeadand
JesusdidascendtoheaventobeseatedwithGod.Iftheseevents,thecornerstoneofChristianity
areseeninthecorrectperspectivegivenbyLuke17:21(ThekingdomofGodiswithinyou),thenitis
clearlyunderstoodthattheRessurectionisatestimonytogoodtriumphingoverevilwhilethe
AscensionistheconfirmationofSelf-Realization.Neitherofthesehaveanythingtodowithwhat
happened physically toJesusaftersurviving crucifixion,and thusreconciling with historical
evidencesaboutChrist'stravelsaftercrucifixionneitherviolatesthefundamentalbeliefsof
Christianitynorposesathreattothefaith.
Thehistoricalandbiblicalreferencesblendseamlesslyindicatinghow theteachingsofJesus
encapsulatethehighestconceptsofKundaliniYoga,AdvaitaVedantaaswellasBuddhism,aresult
ofHislostyearsinIndia.Aftercrucifixion,EscapingRomanpersecution,JesustravelledtoIndia
andwasknownasYuzAsaf,whereHepreachedtotheBeneIsraelpeople,whohavebeenconfirmed
tobetheLostIsraeliTribesbyDNAtests.Eventually,JesusshedHismortalcoilandHistombrests
intheRozabalShrineofSrinagarinKashmir,India.Asmoothnarrativeseamlesslyblendingbiblical
andhistoricalreferencesaretestimonyyoutheveracityofthisarticle.Weconcludewiththe
followingstatementimprovisingonthefamousverseJohn3:14:
ForGodsolovedtheworldthathegavehisoneandonlySon,thatwhoeverbelievesinhimshallnot
perishbuthaveeternallife.Hetookuponhimselfthesinsofhispeoplebearingtheordealofthe
cross,butsogreatwastheLord'sglorythatheemergedvictorious,showingtheworldthathispath
isthepathoftruth.TheSonofGodwasthetrueGoodShepherdtravellingfarandwidetocollect
thelostlambsandshowthemthepathoflight.Histombrestsinthemountainvalley;hesitsbeside
theThroneofGodandwillgivehisThronetothosewhofollowhimandemergevictorious.
INTRODUCTION:
DidJesusspendhislostyears,betweentheagesof14and29inIndia?DidJesusreallysurviveafter
crucifixionandtraveltoIndia?
InthetwomilleniahistoryofChristianity,therehavebeenmanywhoansweredinthepositiveto
thesequestionsonthebasisofcertainevidences.AndconsistentlytheChurchhasdismissedthese
asheresyandheretic.Ratherthanarealassessmentoftheveracityoftheevidences,these
dismissalsshowasignofthefearofcollapseofChristianity,forastheBiblestatesthefollowing:
1Corinthians15:14AndifChristhasnotbeenraised,ourpreachingisuselessandsoisyourfaith.
15Morethanthat,wearethenfoundtobefalsewitnessesaboutGod,forwehavetestifiedabout
GodthatheraisedChristfromthedead.Buthedidnotraisehimifinfactthedeadarenotraised.
16Forifthedeadarenotraised,thenChristhasnotbeenraisedeither.17AndifChristhasnot
beenraised,yourfaithisfutile;youarestillinyoursins.
Ilookatthismatterfromaneutralandobjectiveperspective.Onetheonehand,historicalevidences
presentedaboutJesusinIndiaarestronglyconvincing.Ontheotherhand,thereareversefromthe
Bible,toshowclearlyhowacceptingthehistoricalevidencesneithercontradictsnorcollapsesthe
foundationsofChristianity.
ItiscompletelypossibletobeadevoutChristianwhilealsobelievingthehistoricalrecordsofJesus.
ThatiswhatIintendtopresenthere.InfactIbelievethatthisonlymakesoneanevenstronger
Christian,withtheaddedadvantageofcommunionwiththeSonofGodinHistombinKashmir.
THELOSTYEARSOFJESUS:
ThenativityandveryearlyyearsofJesusaredocumentedintheBible.
Matthew1:18ThisishowthebirthofJesustheMessiahcameabout:HismotherMarywaspledged
tobemarriedtoJoseph,butbeforetheycametogether,shewasfoundtobepregnantthroughthe
HolySpirit.19BecauseJosephherhusbandwasfaithfultothelaw,andyetdidnotwanttoexpose
hertopublicdisgrace,hehadinmindtodivorceherquietly.20Butafterhehadconsideredthis,an
angeloftheLordappearedtohiminadreamandsaid,“JosephsonofDavid,donotbeafraidto
takeMaryhomeasyourwife,becausewhatisconceivedinherisfromtheHolySpirit.21Shewill
givebirthtoason,andyouaretogivehimthenameJesus,becausehewillsavehispeoplefromtheir
sins.”22AllthistookplacetofulfillwhattheLordhadsaidthroughtheprophet:23“Thevirginwill
conceiveandgivebirthtoason,andtheywillcallhimImmanuel”(whichmeans“Godwithus”).
Matthew2:1AfterJesuswasborninBethleheminJudea,duringthetimeofKingHerod,thethree
MagifromtheeastcametoJerusalem2andasked,“Whereistheonewhohasbeenbornkingofthe
Jews?Wesawhisstarwhenitroseandhavecometoworshiphim.”3WhenKingHerodheardthishe
wasdisturbed,andallJerusalem withhim.4Whenhehadcalledtogetherallthepeople’schief
priestsandteachersofthelaw,heaskedthemwheretheMessiahwastobeborn.5“InBethlehemin
Judea,”theyreplied,“forthisiswhattheprophethaswritten:6“‘Butyou,Bethlehem,intheland
ofJudah,arebynomeansleastamongtherulersofJudah;foroutofyouwillcomearulerwhowill
shepherdmypeopleIsrael.’”7ThenHerodcalledtheMagisecretlyandfoundoutfromthemthe
exacttimethestarhadappeared.8HesentthemtoBethlehemandsaid,“Goandsearchcarefully
forthechild.Assoonasyoufindhim,reporttome,sothatItoomaygoandworshiphim.”9After
theyhadheardtheking,theywentontheirway,andthestartheyhadseenwhenitrosewentahead
ofthemuntilitstoppedovertheplacewherethechildwas.10Whentheysawthestar,theywere
overjoyed.11Oncomingtothehouse,theysawthechildwithhismotherMary,andtheyboweddown
andworshipedhim.Thentheyopenedtheirtreasuresandpresentedhim withgiftsofgold,
frankincenseandmyrrh.12Andhavingbeenwarnedinadream nottogobacktoHerod,they
returnedtotheircountrybyanotherroute.
Luke2:41EveryyearJesus’parentswenttoJerusalemfortheFestivalofthePassover.42Whenhe
wastwelveyearsold,theywentuptothefestival,accordingtothecustom.43Afterthefestival
wasover,whilehisparentswerereturninghome,theboyJesusstayedbehindinJerusalem,butthey
wereunawareofit.44Thinkinghewasintheircompany,theytraveledonforaday.Thenthey
beganlookingforhimamongtheirrelativesandfriends.45Whentheydidnotfindhim,theywent
backtoJerusalemtolookforhim.46Afterthreedaystheyfoundhiminthetemplecourts,sitting
amongtheteachers,listeningtothemandaskingthemquestions.47Everyonewhoheardhimwas
amazedathisunderstandingandhisanswers.48Whenhisparentssawhim,theywereastonished.His
mothersaidtohim,“Son,whyhaveyoutreateduslikethis?YourfatherandIhavebeenanxiously
searchingforyou.”49“Whywereyousearchingforme?”heasked.“Didn’tyouknowIhadtobein
myFather’shouse?”[a]50Buttheydidnotunderstandwhathewassayingtothem.51Thenhewent
downtoNazarethwiththemandwasobedienttothem.Buthismothertreasuredallthesethingsin
herheart.52AndJesusgrewinwisdomandstature,andinfavorwithGodandman.
TheevidencesofscrollsintheBuddhistMonasteriesofHemis,LadakhandLhasa,Tibet,suggest
thatJesuslefthomewhenHewas13,fearingtheprospectofmarriageandwenttoIndia.He
studiedJainism inRajasthan,studiedHinduism intheJagannathtempleofPuri,andstudied
BuddhisminNalandaandRajagraha.ThescrollsdescribeJesusasIssar,thesonofVirginMary.
ThesescrollshavebeenaccessedandvalidatedbymanypeopleincludingtheRussianNotovitch,
IndiansaintsTrigunatitanandaandAbhedananda,HenriettaMerickandmanyothers.Furthermore
theChinesetextGlassMirroratteststotheBuddhiststudiesofJesus.TheShankaracharya
NishchalanandaofPuriMuttalsoconfirmsJesuspresenceinthetemplestudyingtheAcharSamhita.
FinallywenotethatasongchantedeventodayamongtheNathsofBengaldescribeJesusasIsha
theirGuru'sGuru.ThiscorroboratesthereferenceinNathNamavaliSutrawhichmentionsJesusas
Ishanath,discipleofChetananath.
IfJesusdidspendthelostyearsinIndia,dowefindreferencestoBuddhistandHinduinfluencesin
Histeachings?Thefollowingevidencesansweraresoundingyes.
BORNOFTHESPIRIT
IntheHindutradition,thehighestgoaloflifeandcompletionofone'sstudiesisdeemedonlywhen
onehasattainedSelf-Realization.Suchapersondoesnotidentifyhimselfwiththebody,butsees
theSelfasGod.Hetranscendsworldlystoriesfeelings,desiresetc.Theseworldlydistractionsare
nothingbutaneffectofMayaorillusion,whileself-realizationleadsonetotrueperceptionand
liberates.Suchapersonnevercravesfortheoutwardworld.
John8:32Thenyouwillknowthetruth,andthetruthwillsetyoufree.
Revelation3:12Hewhoovercomes,IwillmakehimapillarinthetempleofMyGod,andheshallgo
outnomore.IwillwriteonhimthenameofMyGod.
Matthew4:1-11talksabouthowJesusspent40yearsinthewildernessfightingthedevilandits
temptations.
ApersonsubjecttotemptationcannotbeSelf-Realized.AtthesametimeJesusreturnedafterthe
40daysintriumph.Matthew4:10Jesussaidtohim,“Awayfrom me,Satan!Foritiswritten:
‘WorshiptheLordyourGod,andservehimonly.’”11Thenthedevillefthim,andangelscameand
attendedhim.
HowdoesonerealisetheSelf?
John3:5Jesusanswered,“VerytrulyItellyou,noonecanenterthekingdomofGodunlesstheyare
bornofwaterandtheSpirit.6Fleshgivesbirthtoflesh,buttheSpiritgivesbirthtospirit.
Further,John3:9“Howcanthisbe?”Nicodemusasked.AndinJohn3:14JustasMosesliftedupthe
snakeinthewilderness,sotheSonofManmustbeliftedup,15thateveryonewhobelievesmayhave
eternallifeinhim.”
John8:28SoJesussaid,“WhenyouhavelifteduptheSonofMan,thenyouwillknowthatIamhe
andthatIdonothingonmyownbutspeakjustwhattheFatherhastaughtme.29Theonewhosent
meiswithme;hehasnotleftmealone,forIalwaysdowhatpleaseshim.”
TheliftingoftheserpentisareferencetothepracticeofKundaliniYoga,wherethelifeforce
visualisedasadormantcoiledserpentinthecoccyxisaroused,traversessevenenergycentersor
ChakrasandreachesthecrownoftheheadwhereapersonissaidtoachieveSelf-realizationand
eternalbliss.
ItisimportanttounderstandthebasisofKundaliniYoga.Thisstressesonthedivinenatureinherent
ineveryoneasthelifeforceorserpent.Oneonlyneedstoawakenittofullyrealiseone'sownself
asGod.
InthisconnectionthereisaveryimportantreferenceinLuke17:20Once,onbeingaskedbythe
PhariseeswhenthekingdomofGodwouldcome,Jesusreplied,“ThecomingofthekingdomofGodis
notsomethingthatcanbeobserved,21norwillpeoplesay,‘Hereitis,’or‘Thereitis,’becausethe
kingdomofGodiswithinyou.”
ThereareallusionstotheKundaliniphilosophyinotherplacesoftheBibletoo.
ThesevenChakrasascentersofenergyorlightarementionedinRevelations4:5Fromthethrone
cameflashesoflightning,rumblingsandpealsofthunder.Infrontofthethrone,sevenlampswere
blazing.ThesearethesevenspiritsofGod.
ThepathofsevenChakrasasaladderbetweenmanandGodisreferredtoinGenesis28:12Hehad
adreaminwhichhesawastairwayrestingontheearth,withitstopreachingtoheaven,andthe
angelsofGodwereascendinganddescendingonit.
AFTERBAPTISM:
Thusclearly Jesusused thepathof KundaliniYogatoelevateHimself tohigherlevelsof
consciousness and attain Self-realization.The culmination of this was visualised in God's
affirmationduringHisbaptismbyJohn.
Matthew3:17Andavoicefrom heavensaid,“ThisismySon,whom Ilove;withhim Iam well
pleased.”.ThesameisreportedinMark1:11andLuke3:22also.
ItisawellknownfactthatthenameChristwasahonoraryepithetbywhichJesuswasreferred.By
theGreeketymologyChristisderivedfromChristos,meaninganointed.
However,analternativeetymologyofChristproposedbyKanchiMahaperiyavaandPrabhupadais
theSanskritKrishta,analternativeofthenameofLordKrishna.BothKrishnaandKrishtaare
relatedtothewordAkarshanameaningattraction.ThisfeatureofChristisconfirmedintheBible.
John12:32AndI,whenIamliftedupfromtheearth,willdrawallpeopletomyself.”
Self-realizationisthehighestgoalproclaimedbyAdvaitaVedantaofHinduism,andthefactthat
JesusattainedthisgoalisseeninmanyofHisteachingsincludingJohn3:5-6mentionedearlier
whereJesuslaysemphasisonthespirit,notwantingtoidentifyoneselfwiththeflesh.
John10:30Jesussaid,"IandtheFatherareone.”ConsideringthattheFatherisGod,this
statementisanexactreproductionoftheVedicMahavakya"Aham Brahmasmi"foundinthe
BrahadaranyakaUpanishad,wheretheSelfisviewedasGod.
John10:34Jesusansweredthem,Isitnotwritteninyourlaw,Isaid,Yearegods?Thisisthesameas
anotherVedicMahavakya"Tattvamasi"foundinChandogyaUpanishad.
John1:12Yettoallwhodidreceivehim,tothosewhobelievedinhisname,hemadethem the
childrenofGod.
John4:24Godisspirit,andhisworshipersmustworshipintheSpiritandintruth.”.
John8:12AgainJesusspoketothem,saying,“Iamthelightoftheworld.Whoeverfollowsmewill
notwalkindarkness,butwillhavethelightoflife.”.
Thus,thesereferencesstronglyshowhowJesusattainedSelf-Realization,identifiedHimselfwith
God,butwasalsoreadytoconferthesameonanyonewhowascapableenough.
TALKINGINPARABLES
TheloftyconceptsofSelf-Realizationareoftenfounddifficultformanytograsp.Nodoubtsuch
messageswerenearimpossibletoreachthegeneralpublicofIsrael,whowerethemselvestormented
bytheRomansandthecorruptJewishpriests.
ThusJesusreservedthehighestprinciplesofAdvaitaonlytotheapostlesandsomediscipleswhohad
somedegreespiritualprogress.Tothemasses,Jesuspreachedgoodconductandgoodlivingwhich
wouldpurifytheirmindsandelevatethemtoattainingSelf-Realization.
Withthisobjective,Jesusencodedtheprinciplesoflove,tolerance,forgivenessetcinparables,while
alsogivingsuitableinterpretationstotheTenCommandments.Theseformthecruxofthefamous
SermonontheMount.
HoweverJesuspreachingthroughparablesdidnotescapetheattentionofHisdisciples:
Matthew13:10ThedisciplescametoJesusandasked,“Whydoyouspeaktothepeopleinparables?”
11Hereplied,“Becausetheknowledgeofthesecretsofthekingdomofheavenhasbeengivento
you,butnottothem.12Whoeverhaswillbegivenmore,andtheywillhaveanabundance.Whoever
doesnothave,evenwhattheyhavewillbetakenfrom them.13ThisiswhyIspeaktothem in
parables.
ItisawellresearchedfactthatthepreachingsofJesushavemanyincommonwiththeBuddha.
Afterall,BuddhatargetedtheVaishyasandSudras,whowerediscriminatedagainstbysome
priestlyHinduBrahmins,whoweren'tunlikethecorruptJewishpriestsofthetimeofJesus.
Buddha'steachingsresonatedwiththemassesandsodidthoseofJesus.MarcusBanghasgivena
versebyversecomparisonin"JesusandBuddha:TheParallelSayings".

Hewillhealtheblind,butthatalsopicturesthecomingoflighttothoseindarkness(1:78-79).The
healingoftheblindmanin18:35-43alsopictureswhatJesusdoesforZacchaeusin19:1-10.Jesusis
thephysicianwhocomestohealthesick(5:31-32).EventuallytheministryofJesuswillbringtotal
restorationandreleasetothecreation(Rom8:18-39;Rev21--22).TheSonofDavidbringsnotonly
afuturerulebutalsopresentreleasefromsinandareversaloftheeffectsofSatan'spresencein
theworld(11:14-23).Inshort,thisisthebeginningofthefulfillmentofGod'spromise,andJesusis
thesourceofthatfulfillment.
CRUCIFIXION
ThenarrativeofhowJesuswascrucifiedandtheeventsleadingtoitarewellrecordedintheBible.
Luke22:1NowtheFestivalofUnleavenedBread,calledthePassover,wasapproaching,2andthe
chiefpriestsandtheteachersofthelawwerelookingforsomewaytogetridofJesus,forthey
wereafraidofthepeople.3ThenSatanenteredJudas,calledIscariot,oneoftheTwelve.4And
Judaswenttothechiefpriestsandtheofficersofthetempleguardanddiscussedwiththemhow
hemightbetrayJesus.5Theyweredelightedandagreedtogivehimmoney.6Heconsented,and
watchedforanopportunitytohandJesusovertothemwhennocrowdwaspresent.7Thencamethe
dayofUnleavenedBreadonwhichthePassoverlambhadtobesacrificed.8JesussentPeterand
John,saying,“GoandmakepreparationsforustoeatthePassover.”9“Wheredoyouwantusto
prepareforit?”theyasked.10Hereplied,“Asyouenterthecity,amancarryingajarofwaterwill
meetyou.Followhimtothehousethatheenters,11andsaytotheownerofthehouse,‘TheTeacher
asks:Whereistheguestroom,whereImayeatthePassoverwithmydisciples?’12Hewillshowyoua
largeroomupstairs,allfurnished.Makepreparationsthere."13Theyleftandfoundthingsjustas
Jesushadtoldthem.SotheypreparedthePassover.14Whenthehourcame,Jesusandhisapostles
reclinedatthetable.15Andhesaidtothem,“IhaveeagerlydesiredtoeatthisPassoverwithyou
beforeIsuffer.16ForItellyou,Iwillnoteatitagainuntilitfindsfulfillmentinthekingdomof
God.”17Aftertakingthecup,hegavethanksandsaid,“Takethisanddivideitamongyou.18ForI
tellyouIwillnotdrinkagainfromthefruitofthevineuntilthekingdomofGodcomes.”19Andhe
tookbread,gavethanksandbrokeit,andgaveittothem,saying,“Thisismybodygivenforyou;do
thisinremembranceofme.”20Inthesameway,afterthesupperhetookthecup,saying,“Thiscup
isthenewcovenantinmyblood,whichispouredoutforyou.[a]21Butthehandofhimwhoisgoing
tobetraymeiswithmineonthetable.22TheSonofManwillgoasithasbeendecreed.Butwoeto
thatmanwhobetrayshim!”23Theybegantoquestionamongthemselveswhichofthemitmightbe
whowoulddothis.24Adisputealsoaroseamongthem astowhichofthem wasconsideredtobe
greatest.25Jesussaidtothem,“ThekingsoftheGentileslorditoverthem;andthosewhoexercise
authorityoverthemcallthemselvesBenefactors.26Butyouarenottobelikethat.Instead,the
greatestamongyoushouldbeliketheyoungest,andtheonewhorulesliketheonewhoserves.27For
whoisgreater,theonewhoisatthetableortheonewhoserves?Isitnottheonewhoisatthetable?
ButIamamongyouasonewhoserves.28Youarethosewhohavestoodbymeinmytrials.29AndI
conferonyouakingdom,justasmyFatherconferredoneonme,30sothatyoumayeatanddrink
atmytableinmykingdomandsitonthrones,judgingthetwelvetribesofIsrael.31“Simon,Simon,
Satanhasaskedtosiftallofyouaswheat.32ButIhaveprayedforyou,Simon,thatyourfaith
maynotfail.Andwhenyouhaveturnedback,strengthenyourbrothers.”33Buthereplied,“Lord,I
amreadytogowithyoutoprisonandtodeath.”34Jesusanswered,“Itellyou,Peter,beforethe
roostercrowstoday,youwilldenythreetimesthatyouknowme.”35ThenJesusaskedthem,“WhenI
sentyouwithoutpurse,bagorsandals,didyoulackanything?”“Nothing,”theyanswered.36Hesaid
tothem,“Butnowifyouhaveapurse,takeit,andalsoabag;andifyoudon’thaveasword,sellyour
cloakandbuyone.37Itiswritten:‘Andhewasnumberedwiththetransgressors’[b];andItellyou
thatthismustbefulfilledinme.Yes,whatiswrittenaboutmeisreachingitsfulfillment.”38The
disciplessaid,“See,Lord,herearetwoswords.”“That’senough!”hereplied.39Jesuswentoutas
usualtotheMountofOlives,andhisdisciplesfollowedhim.40Onreachingtheplace,hesaidtothem,
“Praythatyouwillnotfallintotemptation.”41Hewithdrewaboutastone’sthrowbeyondthem,
kneltdownandprayed,42“Father,ifyouarewilling,takethiscupfromme;yetnotmywill,but
yoursbedone.”43Anangelfromheavenappearedtohimandstrengthenedhim.44Andbeingin
anguish,heprayedmoreearnestly,andhissweatwaslikedropsofbloodfallingtotheground.[c]45

sorrow.46“Whyareyousleeping?”heaskedthem.“Getupandpraysothatyouwillnotfallinto
temptation.”47Whilehewasstillspeakingacrowdcameup,andthemanwhowascalledJudas,one
oftheTwelve,wasleadingthem.HeapproachedJesustokisshim,48butJesusaskedhim,“Judas,are
youbetrayingtheSonofManwithakiss?”49WhenJesus’followerssawwhatwasgoingtohappen,
theysaid,“Lord,shouldwestrikewithourswords?”50Andoneofthemstrucktheservantofthe
highpriest,cuttingoffhisrightear.51ButJesusanswered,“Nomoreofthis!”Andhetouchedthe
man’searandhealedhim.52ThenJesussaidtothechiefpriests,theofficersofthetempleguard,
andtheelders,whohadcomeforhim,“AmIleadingarebellion,thatyouhavecomewithswordsand
clubs?53EverydayIwaswithyouinthetemplecourts,andyoudidnotlayahandonme.Butthisis
yourhour—whendarknessreigns.”54Thenseizinghim,theyledhim awayandtookhim intothe

“Youalsoareoneofthem.”“Man,Iamnot!”Peterreplied.59Aboutanhourlateranotherasserted,
“Certainlythisfellowwaswithhim,forheisaGalilean.”60Peterreplied,“Man,Idon’tknowwhat
you’retalkingabout!”Justashewasspeaking,theroostercrowed.61TheLordturnedandlooked
straightatPeter.ThenPeterrememberedthewordtheLordhadspokentohim:“Beforethe
roostercrowstoday,youwilldisownmethreetimes.”62Andhewentoutsideandweptbitterly.63
ThemenwhowereguardingJesusbeganmockingandbeatinghim.64Theyblindfoldedhim and
demanded,“Prophesy!Whohityou?”65Andtheysaidmanyotherinsultingthingstohim.66At
daybreakthecounciloftheeldersofthepeople,boththechiefpriestsandtheteachersofthelaw,
mettogether,andJesuswasledbeforethem.67“IfyouaretheMessiah,”theysaid,“tellus.”Jesus
answered,“IfItellyou,youwillnotbelieveme,68andifIaskedyou,youwouldnotanswer.69But
fromnowon,theSonofManwillbeseatedattherighthandofthemightyGod.”70Theyallasked,
“AreyouthentheSonofGod?”Hereplied,“YousaythatIam.”71Thentheysaid,“Whydoweneed
anymoretestimony?Wehavehearditfromhisownlips.”
Luke23:1ThenthewholeassemblyroseandledhimofftoPilate.2Andtheybegantoaccusehim,
saying,“Wehavefoundthismansubvertingournation.HeopposespaymentoftaxestoCaesarand
claimstobeMessiah,aking.”3SoPilateaskedJesus,“AreyouthekingoftheJews?”“Youhavesaid
so,”Jesusreplied.4ThenPilateannouncedtothechiefpriestsandthecrowd,“Ifindnobasisfora
chargeagainstthisman.”5Buttheyinsisted,“HestirsupthepeoplealloverJudeabyhisteaching.
HestartedinGalileeandhascomeallthewayhere.”6Onhearingthis,Pilateaskedifthemanwasa
Galilean.7WhenhelearnedthatJesuswasunderHerod’sjurisdiction,hesenthimtoHerod,whowas
alsoinJerusalematthattime.8WhenHerodsawJesus,hewasgreatlypleased,becauseforalong
timehehadbeenwantingtoseehim.From whathehadheardabouthim,hehopedtoseehim
performasignofsomesort.9Hepliedhimwithmanyquestions,butJesusgavehimnoanswer.10
Thechiefpriestsandtheteachersofthelawwerestandingthere,vehementlyaccusinghim.11Then
Herodandhissoldiersridiculedandmockedhim.Dressinghiminanelegantrobe,theysenthimback
toPilate.12ThatdayHerodandPilatebecamefriends—beforethistheyhadbeenenemies.13
Pilatecalledtogetherthechiefpriests,therulersandthepeople,14andsaidtothem,“Youbrought
methismanasonewhowasincitingthepeopletorebellion.Ihaveexaminedhiminyourpresenceand
havefoundnobasisforyourchargesagainsthim.15NeitherhasHerod,forhesenthimbacktous;
asyoucansee,hehasdonenothingtodeservedeath.16Therefore,Iwillpunishhimandthenrelease
him.”18Butthewholecrowdshouted,“Awaywiththisman!ReleaseBarabbastous!”19(Barabbas
hadbeenthrownintoprisonforaninsurrectioninthecity,andformurder.)20Wantingtorelease
Jesus,Pilateappealedtothemagain.21Buttheykeptshouting,“Crucifyhim!Crucifyhim!”22For
thethirdtimehespoketothem:“Why?Whatcrimehasthismancommitted?Ihavefoundinhimno
groundsforthedeathpenalty.ThereforeIwillhavehimpunishedandthenreleasehim.”23Butwith
loudshoutstheyinsistentlydemandedthathebecrucified,andtheirshoutsprevailed.24SoPilate
decidedtogranttheirdemand.25Hereleasedthemanwhohadbeenthrownintoprisonfor
insurrectionandmurder,theonetheyaskedfor,andsurrenderedJesustotheirwill.26Asthe
soldiersledhimaway,theyseizedSimonfromCyrene,whowasonhiswayinfromthecountry,and
putthecrossonhimandmadehimcarryitbehindJesus.27Alargenumberofpeoplefollowedhim,
includingwomenwhomournedandwailedforhim.28Jesusturnedandsaidtothem,“Daughtersof
Jerusalem,donotweepforme;weepforyourselvesandforyourchildren.29Forthetimewillcome
whenyouwillsay,‘Blessedarethechildlesswomen,thewombsthatneverboreandthebreaststhat
nevernursed!’30Then“‘theywillsaytothemountains,“Fallonus!”andtothehills,“Coverus!”’31
Forifpeopledothesethingswhenthetreeisgreen,whatwillhappenwhenitisdry?”32Twoother
men,bothcriminals,werealsoledoutwithhimtobeexecuted.33Whentheycametotheplacecalled
theSkull,theycrucifiedhimthere,alongwiththecriminals—oneonhisright,theotheronhisleft.
ItiswellknownthatJesuswasonthecrossforamere6hours.Forallpracticalpurposes,everybody
presentintheareaincludingJesusHimselfthoughtthatthelifeofJesuscametoaclose.Luke23:
46Jesuscalledoutwithaloudvoice,“Father,intoyourhandsIcommitmyspirit.”
WehavealreadyseenhowJesuswasaSelf-RealizedsoulwhodidnotidentifyHimselfwiththebody
butwiththespirit.ThismeansJesusdidnotcareforHisbodyoritsimminentdeath.RatherHe
caredabouttheMissionforwhichHewassentintothisworld.Itisthisdespairthatisseeninthe
followingverses,alongwithbeseechingGodtoforgivetheactofRomanswhoidentifiedthemselves
withthebodyandwerethusstilldeluded.

Aspertheletter,atthispointJesusstoppedrespondingtotheexternalworldandwasforall
practicalpurposesdead.TheRomanswererequestedtoremovethebodyfromthecrossespecially
asthenextdaywastheSabbath.ToascertainHisdeaththeRomanspiercedHissidewithalance.
Bloodandwaterflowedout.YetthebodydidnotrespondconvincingtheRomansthatHewasdead.
JosephofArimathaea,awitnesstothisimmediatelyrecognisedthegushingofbloodasasignofa
beatingheart.
John19:38Later,JosephofArimatheaaskedPilateforthebodyofJesus.NowJosephwasadisciple
ofJesus,butsecretlybecausehefearedtheJewishleaders.WithPilate’spermission,hecameand
tookthebodyaway.39HewasaccompaniedbyNicodemus,themanwhoearlierhadvisitedJesusat
night.Nicodemusbroughtamixtureofmyrrhandaloes,aboutseventy-fivepounds.
Itiswellknownthataloeandmyrrharehealingherbs,notembalmingherbs.Aspertheletter,the
bodywaswrappedaftertheseherbswereappliedandwaskeptinatomb,wherefewEssenes
attendedtoHim.
Afteraboutthirtyhours,Jesusregainedconsciousness.Heheardabouthowwhathappenedafter
Hispresumeddeath.JesusunderstooditastheWillofGodandbecameveryemotionaltoknowthat
GodhadsavedHim.
ThenthelettersayshowaneagerJesuscameouttomeetHispeoplestartingwithMaryMagdalene,
andhowthenextfewdayswerespentinrecuperatingandmeetingdisciplesamidstthesuspicious
Romans.WeknowfromtheBiblehowtheresurrectedJesusshowedHimselfinfleshandbloodtothe
disciples.John20:26Aweeklaterhisdiscipleswereinthehouseagain,andThomaswaswiththem.
Thoughthedoorswerelocked,Jesuscameandstoodamongthemandsaid,“Peacebewithyou!”27
ThenhesaidtoThomas,“Putyourfingerhere;seemyhands.Reachoutyourhandandputitintomy
side.Stopdoubtingandbelieve.”
TheletteralsotellshowJesuswasdisappointedtoobservethattheIsraelipeopleweremore
interestedinpoliticalrevengeandoverthrowingtheRomansratherthaninspiritualtransformation.
FinallytoavoidanotherRomanpersecutionJesushadnooptionbuttoescapethelandandtravel
elsewhere.
BASISOFCHRISTIANITY
Beforeweproceed tofurthertravelsof Jesus,weneed topausehereand reflectonthe
implications.TheBiblesaysin1Corinthians15:14AndifChristhasnotbeenraised,ourpreachingis
uselessandsoisyourfaith.
So,throughtheeventsofCrucifixionandResurrection,whatmessagedoesGodconveytous? And
doesanyofthischangeuponourknowingthatJesussurvivedandtravelledtoaforeignland?
WhywasJesusputtotheordeal? Romans4:25Hewasdeliveredovertodeathforoursinsandwas
raisedtolifeforourjustification.
WemustrememberthatJesusHimselfwasnotawareofHisressurectionpriortocrucifixion.Thus
HisressurectionisdefinitelyanActofGodalone.Therecanbenodoubtsonthis.
WhydidGodraiseJesusfrom death?ThisActofGodwastoprovethatJesuswasHischosen
messenger.EventhoughJesuspreachedextensivelytothepeopleofIsrael,theResurrectiongave
them concreteproofthatJesussurvivedthepersecutionofRomans:atriumphofgoodoverevil.
ThiswasproofthatHisteachings,justlikeJesus,wascommissionedbyGodHimself,andthatthey
willemergevictoriousoverevil.
ThereisalsothebeliefthatGodraisedJesustoheavenandthattheChristsatbesideGod.This
formsamajorpartofChristianfaithandbeliefinthegloryofJesus.
Acts7:55ButStephen,fulloftheHolySpirit,lookeduptoheavenandsawthegloryofGod,and
JesusstandingattherighthandofGod.56“Look,”hesaid,“IseeheavenopenandtheSonofMan
standingattherighthandofGod.”.ThesameismentionedalsoinLuke24:51,Acts1:1and1:9,
Matthew26:64,Mark16:19,John20:17and6:62,1Timothy3:16,Ephesians4:10and1:20,Philippians
2:9,1Peter3:22andHebrews4:14.SomanyreferencestothisAscensiontestifytoitsimportance
inChristianity.
Hereweneedtoaskaveryimportantquestion.JesusascendedtoheavenandsatwithGod.Where
exactlyisthisheaven?
Andmostimportantly,wehavetheanswertothisquestioninthewordsofJesusitselfinLuke17:21
norwillpeoplesay,‘Hereitis,’or‘Thereitis,’becausethekingdomofGodiswithinyou.
SoitisclearthatthisAscensionissymbolicandnotphysical.ConsiderRevelation3:21Totheone
whoisvictorious,Iwillgivetherighttositwithmeonmythrone,justasIwasvictoriousandsat
downwithmyFatheronhisthrone.
ThusJesussittingonthethroneofGodisnotanaccountofHisphysicalascensiontotheskiesbut
ratheratestimonytoHisvictory:avictoryofgoodoverevil,avictoryofHisteachingsagainst
persecution.InotherwordsthisisatestimonytoHisSelf-realizationwhereJesushadmergedHis
identitywithGod.ThoughHealreadyattainedthisstateandpreacheditinHissermons,itwasthe
resurrectionalonethatgaveconcreteevidenceofHisSelf-realization.ThatwasHisvictory,and
thatwasHisAscension.
InfacttheaboveverseshowshowJesusaskseachoneofustofollowHisteachings,andemerge
victoriousourselveswhereonwhereuponHepromisestheThroneofGodforustoo.Inotherwords,
thisisChrist'smessageforallofustostrivetowardsSelf-realization.
OnecanseethismessageofChristinJohn14:12VerytrulyItellyou,whoeverbelievesinmewilldo
theworksIhavebeendoing,andtheywilldoevengreaterthingsthanthese,becauseIamgoingto
theFather.
ThisversecorrelatedwiththeaboveinRevelation3:21andLuke17:21clearlyshowshowthe
AscensionisSymbolicoftheVictoriousSelf-realization,mergingofChrist'sidentitywithGod,and
howJesusaskseachoneofustoemulatethisourselvesandattainthesamegloryasHim.
Thus,iftheAscensionofJesusissymbolic,itisimportanttounderstandthathistoricaleventsof
JesusafterResurrectiondonothaveanyeffectonthefundamentalChristianbelief.
HereitisalsoimportanttonoteJohn14:6Jesusanswered,“Iamthewayandthetruthandthelife.
NoonecomestotheFatherexceptthroughme.
ThisisanothercornerstoneofChristianity.WasJesusspecial? Hedefinitelywas.IsHetheonlyway
toGod?
Here,oneseeshowJesustraveledallthewaytoIndiatolearnandconsolidatevariousphilosophies,
andcamebacktoIsraeltospreadthewisdomtoHispeople.Sincenobodyinthatregionundertook
suchamissionorhadfoundtruewisdom,itwasimperativethatthepeopleofIsraelfollowJesus.
ThustheaboveverseholdstrueforthepeopleofIsrael.
Also,onemustkeepinmindthesimilarityofTeachingsofChristwiththoseofBuddhaandAdvaita
Vedanta.So,ifonesincerelyfollowstheTeachingsofChrist,theyarealreadyfollowingBuddhaor
Advaita,andviceversa.Thusthisstatementappearstothesepeoplealso.
HowspecialwasJesus?HeconsolidatedwisdomfromIndia,attainedSelf-realization,preachedthe
wisdom tothepeople,and offered them thesameexalted statusasHimself.Thisiswhat
characterisesaGuruinIndiantradition.AndinHinduism,onestronglybelievesin"GuruSakshat
Parabrahmam",thatisGuruisGoditself.ThisisatestimonytothespecialtyofJesusChrist.
Thusinessence,aspertheaboveversefrom 1Corinthians15:14,ourbeliefinJesusdeathand
ressurection,theimplications,Hisuniquenessandthus,thefoundationsofChristianitydoesnot
changewiththeknowledgethatJesusChristsurvivedcrucifixionandtravelledtoaforeignland.
THEKINGOFTRAVELERS
HavingunderstoodtheimplicationsofResurrection,wenowcontinueexploringChrist'slifeafter
thisevent.WestartwithhowtheletterofcrucifixionbyaneyewitnessmentionshowJesustravelled
toescapethepersecutionofRomans.Nowtherearetwoquestions:whyandwhere.Firstweaddress
thewhy.
WenotethatJesusHimselfthoughtHewoulddieatthecross.ThussurvivalafterCrucifixionproved
toJesusthepowerofGod'sWill,butmoreimportantlythemessagethatHisMissionontheEarth
wasnotyetover.
ThefearofpersecutionbyRomansaswellasthematerialisticdesiresoftheIsraelipeoplefor
establishingakingdomprovedtobothJesusandtheworldthatHismissionwascertainlynolongerin
Israel.ThenwhatwasremaininginthemissionofJesus?
ChristHimselfanswersinJohn10:16AndothersheepIhave,whicharenotofthisfold:themalsoI
mustbring,andtheyshallhearmyvoice;andthereshallbeonefold,andoneshepherd.
HeadvisedthesametotheApostlesinMatthew10:5ThesetwelveJesussentforth,andcommanded

TurkeyborderingSyria.
TheActaThomaeofThomastheApostletalksofamarriageinTaxila,PakistanwhichJesusattended
alongwithThomas.WealsonoteinpassingacertaintombbelievedbylocalstobeofMaryinPindi
PointinPakistan,inatownsimilarlynamedMaryorMurree.
ItisclearthatinPersiaandKashmir,JesuseitheradoptedorwasgiventhenameYuzAsaf,meaning
"LeaderoftheHealed".
Asanevidence,thereisaquartetofinscriptionsintheShankaracharyaTemple/ThroneofSolomon
inSrinagar,whichwasrenovatedbythenrulingKingGopadattausingtheadviceofJesus.
Theinscription,bythecommissionedPersianarchitect,capturedinimagein1869,clearlytellshow
YuzAsafwasindeedJesus,prophetoftheBeneIsraelwhodeclaredprophethoodintheyear54.
TheHindutextBhavishyaMajapuranadatedtosecondcenturydescribesJesusencounteredbythe
kingShalivahanainthePratisargaParvaChaturyugaKhanda.JesusdescribedHimselfastheSonof
God,bornofavirginandtooktoprophethoodinthedegradedMlecchaland.Christthendescribed
hisphilosophyasfollows:
"Thelivingentityissubjecttogoodandbadcontaminations.Themindshouldbepurifiedbytaking
recourseofproperconductandchantingoftheholynamesofGod.Justastheimmovablesun
attracts,fromalldirections,theelementsofalllivingbeings,theLordofthesolarplanet,whois
fixedandall-attractive,andattractstheheartsofalllivingcreatures.Thusbyfollowingrules,
speakingtruthfulwords,bymentalharmonyandbymeditation,oneshouldworshipthatimmovable
Lord.Havingplacedtheeternallypureandauspiciousform oftheSupremeLordinmyheart,O

TothepeopleofIndia,thesimilaritiesbetweentheteachingsofJesusandBuddhawerefartoo
obvious.TheysawJesusasanotherBuddha.ThisisseeninthetwocoinsreleasedbyKingKanishka,
onedepictingBuddhaandtheotherdepictingJesus.
THEROZABALSHRINE
StayingforalongtimeinKashmir,Jesuseventuallypassedawayattheageof80.Histombisthe
modestRozabalshrineofSrinagar.InthelatertimesaMuslimbythenameSayyidNasruddinwas
alsoburiedheremakingitasharedgravesite.
Whiletherearetwosarcophagialignednorth-south(theconventionalMuslimburialarrangement),
theactualtombofJesusisintheundergroundcellaralignedaccordingtoJewishcustomasEast-
West,andhasbeenphotographed.
Nearthetombarecarvedfootprintsinstone.Thesefootprintsshowwoundsofcrucifixion.These
arenotalignedinthesamepositioninbothfeet,butratherdepictthewoundmarksiftheleftfoot
wasplacedovertherightandasinglenaildrilledthroughthem.Thisdescriptioncompletelymatches
theTurinShroudevidences.
Therearemanydocumentswrittenthroughouthistorythataffirm theRozabalshrinetobethe
tombofYuzAsaforJesusChrist.ThedocumentKamal-udDinwaTmam-unNimatfiAsbat-ul-
GhaibatwaKashf-ul-Hairetwritteninthe900sADnarrates:
"YuzAsaf,afterroamingaboutinmanycities,reachedthatcountrywhichiscalledKashmir.He
traveledinitfarandwideandstayedthereandspenthis(remaining)lifethere,untildeath
overtookhim,andhelefttheearthlybodyandwaselevatedtowardstheLight.Butbeforehisdeath,
hesentforadiscipleofhis,Ba’badbyname,whousedtoservehim andwaswellversedinall
matters.Heexpressedhislastwilltohimandsaid:‘Mytimefordepartingfromthisworldhascome.
Carryonyourdutiesproperlyandturnnotbackfrom truth,andsayyourprayersregularly.’He
thendirectedBa’badtoprepareatomboverhim (attheveryplacethathedied). Hethen
stretchedhislegstowardstheWestandheadtowardstheEastanddied.MayGodblesshim".
TheTarikhiKashmirofMullahNadiriin1420ADdescribesJesusasYuzAsafandconfirmsthe
referencesinBhavishyaPuranaandGopadatta'sinscriptions.AinulHayatofthe1600sAD
mentionsin2:2:177aboutYuzAsaf,HispartingmessagetoHosdiscipleandtheEastwardalignment

ThusthetravelofJesustoIndia,HisministryinKashmirandHistombinRozabalofKashmirhas
beenextensivelyreferencedthroughouthistoryinbothinscriptionandliteraryevidencesbyPersian,
Hindu,BuddhistandArabictexts.Onthebasisoftheseevidencesonecancertainlyconcludethat
