Hello
My Name Is... Mrs Kim Tyeson
I have been teaching since back in the early 1980s, beginning on the West
Coast of Tasmania in Rosebery, being at Beaconsfield Primary for four years,
Evandale Primary for two, then I had some leave while I stayed at home with
our son. I then spent 14 years at Riverside Primary during which time I also
had some leave to be at home after our daughter was born. Next I had seven years at
Summerdale Primary and this is my seventh year teaching at Westbury.
Outside of school, in normal times, I enjoy heading off camping in our traytop
camper, gardening, bike riding, kayaking, going to a gym and especially doing yoga based
classes but some others too.
We have 44 acres of land, mostly bush, which takes some time to maintain also. We have a small
flock of sheep, two alpacas –Pinot and Cointreau and a sixteen year old chocolate Burmese cat
called Chokito who is very affectionate and has good table manners. He sits on a chair at the
table while we eat most evenings and doesn’t attempt to touch any food.
I have enjoyed my years at Westbury and enjoyed getting to know some of the community. Let’s
hope this year eventually regains some more normality later on.
FUN RUN
At this stage, the FUN RUN is still going ahead on Tuesday 31st March (subject to weather and further advice from Dept of Health & Dept of Education).
The school aims to allow students to complete the Fun Run in class groups throughout the day, rather than as a whole school activity. All students will receive a motivational wrist band for participating.
Given the cancellation of a number of P&F fundraising events over the last week (Rotary and Probus catering, Bunnings BBQ, cake stall at St Patrick’s Festival, pizza & movie night) and into the foreseeable future, we would like to encourage all students to collect sponsorship for the Fun Run. This is likely to be a major fundraiser for the year, and with the option of online fundraising it is still able to proceed at this time.
No matter how big or small an amount is raised by individuals, it all contributes to fundraising for our school. Profits from Kinder to Grade 3 will be used for whole school projects, with profits from Grade 4-6 classes going towards camp fundraising. And remember, simply by raising $10 or more will entitle the student to receive a prize.
To date just over $1600 has been raised, and we thank everyone for their support so far.
Lets keep that going over the next week and see what amazing things our school can achieve!
